I knew Donkey Kong was a secret boss in Punch Out Wii, but I didn't know he was found in a _boss rush you can only attempt ONCE PER SAVE FILE._ That has got to be one of the most hardcore final challenges I've ever heard put into a video game.

@@DesigningFor If you don’t mind me saying, but I kinda wish Donkey Kong ‘94 was used as a subject for a “Designing For” video, as the Donkey Kong presented in the Game Boy game is a major contrast from Arcade DK, not only in design, but in animation too; I wouldn’t put him in the same topic as Cranky Kong, but he does resemble more to Modern DK, as the design was initially for Donkey Kong Country… I wouldn’t be surprised if Illumination DK was based on the original idea, given the more cartoony design and facial features that not even Rare DK could even match.

Having a fight against a gorilla is a pretty tame move at this point. I wouldn't find it weird if Mac's next fight was against a totally hypothetical queen who also likes potassium.

Not gonna lie, at the time I played Punch-Out!!, I didn't like how DK was so much arrogant, especially considering all the stuff Mac has been through and how important this win streak challenge is to him. But with time I began to appreciate that moment even more: taking down one of the biggest icons in the history videogames really means that Mac would have "put his place in history". It's like the final realization of his character and I really love it. Not to mention that I like the headcanon that DK is the one that gave Mac an invitation to Smash Bros, hence why the reason why Mac left the ring at the end. It almost feel too poetic in my head. But enough fanfictions. Amazing videos as always: This is an incredible start to DK Month and I can't wait to see more :DDD

I like to think the canon loses in Mac's last stand are Glass Joe, Super Macho man, and DK in that order. Glass Joe gets the belt and founds his own boxing school, Super Macho Man releases the rats and regains his glory, and DK kidnaps Little Mac and brings him to Smash were he is forever immortal but trapped and forced to be a low tier for the rest of time. Super punch-out is then a sequel to Wii punch-out. This is means the DK Little Mac is fighting is some metaphysical, platonic version, or some powerscalers toy of DK rather then dk from his series.

The only reason she was replaced with our beloved boy Donkey DONG is because producer Kensuke Tanabe said that the thought of punching women out made him give up his idea. And honestly makes sense because if they did go through with this idea, it would be an unfair matchup. A well-trained boxer versus a twiggy-armed princess who can’t even defend herself from a giant anthropomorphic turtle who kidnaps her every other week. And also because like Peach has like no fighting experience with her bare hands. Closest is 2/5 of her weapons in mario rpg involving her repeatedly slapping enemies. Otherwise she uses a parasol, a fan, or a fucking frying pan, or even a golf club. (Oh yeah also fun fact: The model of peach’s golf club in melee actually secretly has a gun on the texture so if peach has a gun on her why not use it?!) But then again peach’s forward aerial in smash bros exists which is insanely strong so… idk 🤷‍♂️

I swear when DK kidnaps Mac after you lose he’s taking Mac to smash bros. Like he appeared in smash 4 right after punch out wii released and he also was an assist trophy in brawl, so DK has gotta be taking Mac to smash, and is fighting him as a test of skill, bravery, and patience. Think about it, dk fights like a smash bros player. He strings combos (very important in smash bros) the slam might sorta me air fighting (also important in smash bros) and he spams taunts (which smash players do). Also a lot of his attacks are reminiscent of his smash move set. Body clap = F-smash Jump Slam = F-air Roll = dash attack Double hand slam = down smash So yeah, DK took Mac to smash bros.

The main thing that highlights the "only a showboy" style DK brings, is the fact that he pulls some obviously illegal moves for all his attacks. Backhands, side hand smashes, earclaps, and jump strikes all cannot be done in a professional match, with the fact that the WVBA isn't kicking him out because of these (among other obvious reasons) just goes to show he's there for pure entertainment purposes.

True, DK in particular was hilarious, but to me, Punch Out Wii as a whole was enough of a laugh riot to make even the most nerve-racking fights that much more bearable. All the foreign boxers speaking their native languages, the over-the-top animations and facial expressions, the weird sound effects that accompany the tells for their attacks, the flagrant rule violations that'd never fly in any real-world boxing association... A nearly perfect balance of funny and frustrating, I think.

12:05-12:46 Now that Got me thinking about How Rest of the Kongs Fair up in this Category. 1.Diddy being more Willing to take risk and actually somwhat think about his battle, being quick and Nimble while protecting his weak spots, Issue he's just as much of a Baffon as his best pal Donkey Kong. With higher respect and willingness to take Mac seriosly, as his heroism would apply, Maybe Handshaking Mac's knocked out body as appreciation for his best. 2.Cranky a bit weaker and older type fighter(he really shouldn't be here but he wouldn't stop talking about he used to be a renowed boxer in his old days), mostly tactical unlike his those Monke brained Kongs he has experince and knows how hit, block move and predict, Adapting to Macs fighting plan overtime, and adding in his own old tricks with his Staff, catching you when you messup. But his age gets to him, making have occesinial Pains in his body messing him up, making something he would Won in his peak, ontop of his Ego leading to be similary a buffon as his son, Rarely but does Taunt occusanily sometimes it's comparing you to his youngerself, sometimes is him being oblivious to his own flaws. 3.Dixie(Appereantly her wiki only says as much personality as Mario, just Saving the world for her Family but thats really it, not really giving her more nuance outside of that. Maybe it works for her i'm not sure) She'd be similar to Diddy in Fighting style just higher Trickery with her Ponytail, with a bit more Playful dimener like Donkey kong and a bit Critical of your skill which brings annoyance. But she means little harm from it, she Genunely studied, did her Training and effort to outmatch Mac, she's Confident But also Humble like Diddy, being on her toes and working to be the best at everything, Master of none. as while she is quite capable in her own ways, shes still kind of basic, somewhat predictable of her moves, and if you pay attention she becomes though tough, kind of an easy match to deal with, as unlike the others who have insanity levels of pressure at the cost of their protection, DIxie is using both with has her be good at both. Just like Diddy she Takes you seriously if the honesty in critizing your efforts was anything to go by. 4. The Master Legend next to Donkey and DIddy, Funky Kong. (Hes too perfect for me to think of a Gameplay way to add him into Punch out So i'm gonna need a team help for this one, send in the replies an Idea for him and I'll see if it could be implimented. from what I got of his character he's a maniac Cool Dude whos up for anything, Challenging any obsticoluse with a shiny smiles the entire way through. Even though the Super Punch-Out!! speedrun contains a lot of RNG, almost all attack patterns are consistent, for example, nick’s one hit knock down attack is at 0:25, 0:45, and 2:00. Whereas bald bull in the original mtpo has a lot of randomness added to it, like there’s a chance that he’ll start to do his rolling jabs again after the 2nd hook he throws. You should really watch the in-game tutorial, it can show you a lot of things.

Hehe just marathoned these videos and loved them all. I’d say the next one should be on the challenge mode where all the fighters turn into one punch man. That way all of them have 10 times the intimidation. Even glass joe sense if you mess around or even slip up against him congrats your on the floor now, don’t do it another 2-3 times maybe 4 if your button mashing god and can save Mac twice on the ropes (you can do that btw. Good luck getting it a second time. Not sure if beating mike Tyson is harder then saving yourself twice on the ropes)

The thing about fighting DK is that you have 3 losses total in Mac's Last Stand. 3 opportunities to learn his shit in the field. And since you have to fight him to get him in Exhibition Mode, you'll have little idea of what to do when he gets onto the ring. His surprise and lack of WVBA standard moves make him that much tougher.

I still remember the absolute blindside I got when playing the game at launch. I beat the first 2 campaigns, get to Last Stand, & then this ape shows up & WRECKS MY SHIT. Even on future save files I never beat him because I just couldn't get the tells down. 10/10 please keep up the practice of other Nintendo characters stealing the belt from Mac.

You’re actually guaranteed to fight DK after your first loss in Macs last stand if you haven’t yet. So it’s not possible to fully beat without fighting him.
