RIP, Beloved Master, Beloved Zakirji. Thank you very much, for everything, for your gifts, for being a vehicle for music

this is an amazing instrument - and an inspiring player! I'm a middle-aged lady who now feels like trying this myself!

the hand strength required to do that is just intense. Those, professional tabla players are out of this world

Beloved UstadJi. This video catures everything you had - technical skill, tempo, creativity, passion and most of all enjoyment. We all miss you. Rest in peace

This is completely surreal. You really have to listen to it to believe that some of these sounds are even achievable. Hussain uses tablas to speak an impossible alien language. There are no effects happening here, it was actually filmed live. Stunning!

unbelievable... this guy is inspiration, ive been playing table for 7 1/2 months now, I hope to get to this level after years of playing...

love the quintessential zakir hussain sound combined with very serious tabla matter.

Dhene Ghere tekdhin tekdhin nanakete is one of the most sweetest kaida I have ever played and when it is from Zakir , just wonderful.
@pranavkukreti20467 жыл бұрын
Do you know what is the composition he starts playing at 3:30? I have been looking for it for a long time.
@soumenb227 жыл бұрын
Pranav Kukreti this is basically laggi or two by two matra drut used in thumri and bhajan at the end part or returning to Som. in slow style it would be dhene ghere tekdin tene kete tendin then he does the ulta or reverse starting like kete taka tekdhin
@pranavkukreti20467 жыл бұрын
Thankyou. Could you also tell me some variants of this theka?

Zakir...the passion with which you play is palpable. As with every Master, you become one with the music and your instrument. I am inspired. Thank you, Dear One, for sharing your music and talents with the world. :) Bhakti

zakir was my teacher when i was taking tabla lessons at the ali akbar college of music in san rafael, california, and what was very obvious to me was that he had rhythm in his dna even more so than he could communicate. this is the most amazing thing about him.

Amazing!! I myself play tabla and can therefore really tell and relate to how difficult it is to play this.BUt the real beauty is that he can do it with such ease and such a relaxed and meditative face. It shows true mastery.

WOW pure genius-- this guy has got at least three brains all working at the same time in a different place---how they manage to know where they are is beyond me. Most drummer have to know where the "ONE" is. but these players just seem to get into another zone.. simply amaazzzzing.

Listen to Ustad Tari Khan's Teental solo (on youtube) when he was only 16. His performance then was extremely enjoyable and he has grown in his innovativeness. Ustad Zakir is excellent in his own way, but I find Tari sahebs performances to be far more enjoyable, and he shows his own enjoyment during performing.

SSGKashmirSoldier, just by the choice of your nickname we can see how your mind is enlightened. There is no point in comparing tabla players like "Tari is better than Zakir". Tabla players, thanks God, are all different, with different sensitivity and feelings when they play, that's what make music beautiful.
@albundie313 жыл бұрын
@HareDeLune and dont forget aloke dutta, if zakir hussain and aloke dutta got together and played a composition, time would stand still
@tablameister15 жыл бұрын
Zakir-bhai is no doubt one of the greatest tabla players and he has elevated the tabla player's role to that of an equal rather than a subordinate to the main artists. However, when playing solo, Zakir-bhai never lesiurely explores the composition, but rather always wants to start playing relas, laggis, etc. within the context of peshkar.
