Scott Weiland was an extraordinary lyricist. He explored themes like addiction, loneliness, and betrayal. Sadly he never really recovered from his addictions and died. He did try to recover but wasn't successful. "Fall To Pieces" with Velvet Revolver was probably a last ditch cry for help. He was most definitely a modern day poet.

Speaking of the album art, the title "Purple" is as bizarre as the cover art itself. Nowhere on the cover is the word "Purple" printed nor is purple even the predominant color of the album artwork. If anything, the title should be "12 Gracious Melodies" as there are 12 songs, that title is printed on the back cover, and the hidden track on the album shares that same title.
