This album is so underrated! This is one of the key albums that changed me into a rock/metalhead when I was young. Great reaction dude.

Still my favorite band from when they came out. I listen to them at least once a day. To me they have a Zeppelin sound if you are deep enough into Zeppelin to hear it.

Maybe against the even more popular bands at the time, but STP was still huge, and is remembered today right after the biggest 3 of Nirvana, AIC and Pearl Jam

All three good songs, Sex Type being my favorite also. Though, I think my all time favorite from this album was Plush.

God I f’n love this. I was 13 when it came out. Rock was so much more mainstream back then but this was so heavy and melodic mixed with Scott’s insane vocal capability which made it stand out. I suggest moving in chronological order for the remaining albums. You need to see how their sound changes through the 90s.

The Deleo brothers have an extensive palette of influences to draw from. It shows when you move from one album to another and even from song to song on each album. And then throw in one of the best front men of all time- Scott had an extensive palette for his vocals too. It’s hard to beat them.

STP was great when they came out with this album. I seen them in concert on the purple album and they sounded just like the CD. They were clear, loud and just great performers. Scott was great live as well. Scotts drug addiction unfortunately like most people in that situation finally got the best of him. They were great.

lol the lil johnny thing. It is funny because my friend had it on tape, we were about 12 or so. Also, Dead and Bloated sounds killer with a subwoofer. That riff on the postchorus of Wicked Garden is so tough, I could tell you enjoyed that too. haha Core is supposed to mean the apple from adam and eve, so Wicked Garden could very well be about that.

Core is great and it definitely hits harder but it's also way more derivative than Purple, which is where they really found their sound. There are some great songs on Core but some of the hooks sound lifted from other bands like Nirvana and others like Van Halen haha. Nice production too

I remember when this album came out, blew me away with the first track. Saw them many times, but I remember the Purple tour best because that was their first headliner and they DESTROYED. In the 90's I went to countless shows and they stood out as one of the best live acts I've ever seen I'll never forget it. It's really a shame that Scott couldn't pull it together they could have made so much more music.....STP is one of the bands I really miss. Don't forget to listen to Tiny Music as well it's their best album imo.

I miss the grunge era of music. Most consider Stone Temple Pilots to be "post-grunge". But STP had that legit grunge angst. Unpopular opinion...vocally, Scott Weiland was better then Eddie Vedder, which is a common comparison. That's about all...

"Grunge" is NOT a thing!! I'll bet you have no clue what they mean by "grunge". It has NOTHING to do with the music. Critics didn't know how to describe it, so they described the MEMBERS of the bands!!! Calling THEM "grungy" and that was taken as disrespectful then and still is today!! STOP with the "grunge" bullshit!! There is no such thing.

John how dare you compare Scott to Nirvana who are definately grunge. And Stp more animalistic rock. I couldnt imagine kirt singing sex type thing and meaning it. Plus he was definately a showman and dancer. Kirt nahhh. Ok I'll break it down Scott was hot, Kirt was not! Except maybe to Courtney but I doubt it. But Rip anyway both ya loved ya!
