Ren's semblance is genuine and true empathy seen in a way how some people claim to see aura (in flower petal form). Hes someone who can help others hold themselves together by seeing their emotions like that. The first part of any empath is me backwards afterall

They can give Cinder all the sob story origins they want, Emerald is the _only_ one alongside Neopolitan who deserves redemption. Not even Mercury deserves it.

I think there will be confrontation between Tyrian and Mercury and some of our boys from Vacuo...maybe with all of team SSSN but in the next Volume? I believe Ren is in big trouble, in the worst "I've got a bad feeling about this way...Emerald and Hazel are both going to try to get the Lamp, but only one is going to ask the question. And we will then see a full on Salem rage and slaughter. Penny is still going to be hacked by Watts in a delayed programming process, but it will go badly for everyone involved. And Neo is going to hurt or even kill someone in her quest for revenge. February seems a long way away...{heavy sigh!} (;]D.

I don't know how likely this is to happen, if only because we don't know the second half's direction yet, but perhaps Penny being hacked is a red herring ^Sure, it happened and she's vulnerable AND it's easy to assume the worst, but what if ultimately nothing 'majorly serious' comes out of it? What if it just interferes with her system functions, forcing her to be unconscious and/or at limited capacity for a time, before they then get Pietro to fix it and she later joins in on the hero efforts?

I think it would be really Nora’s semblance to evolve because it both mirrors Ren and it would tie in wonderfully with Nora learning who she is outside of Ren and “Be strong and hit stuff”, since being strong and hitting stuff is all her semblance is currently good for.

I assume they all will eventually. I mean presumably stretching their limits is what helps them evolve, Rens been pushing his constantly over the last few volumes, Nora just vastly OVER stretched her limits so it evolving (or at least changing slightly) after she heals wouldn't be out of the question. Jaune hasn't really seemed to hit his limit yet, but if they keep having him amp people up constantly the "exercise" is going to add up eventually. Ruby's has steadily grown because she uses it almost casually while Blake's has shown improvements but nothing earth shattering. Its hard to tell with Yang since she's basically a battery, and while Weiss' has obviously grown her growth path is already mostly known since its hereditary.

The only Maidens we've seen in the show so far are Amber, Cinder, Raven, Fria, and now Penny, of which only Penny and maybe Fria had any real acts of self-sacrifice. Also, I think it's important to note not just that Marrow replaced a previous Ace Op, but _who,_ specifically, he replaced; Tortuga, the Tortoise to Harriet's Hare. We can infer that they were probably pretty close, and if how quick Winter took over from Clover is any indication, Marrow was probably pretty quick to be added in after Tortuga's death. Imagine if, the day after the Fall of Beacon, Oscar was slotted into Team JNPR, and Jaune was told he wasn't allowed to mourn for Pyrrha, that he needed to suck it up, and work with her replacement. Perhaps it's a bit of an exaggeration, and I doubt they were romantically involved, but it's probably not too far from what Harriet (And the others, to a degree) went through. For one, it explains (Though not excuses) why she's so critical of Marrow all the time, and for two, it practically spells out why the Ace Ops as a whole lost to Team RWBY, for all those who didn't get it. The thing about repressing your emotions and not properly processing and coping with them, especially in regards to grief, is that they don't go away, they just build up, and explode out when you don't want them to. Ruby played to Harriet's temper expertly, and practically led her around by the nose the entire fight, until the other three were dealt with and Weiss was able to just destroy her with an ice wall. And then, aside from that blow to her pride, she also finds out that Clover is dead, and again, isn't allowed to grieve, and has to just work with his replacement. Except not only does Winter replace Clover, she's also granted leadership over the entire squad, despite being easily younger than any of them except maybe Marrow. At the end of the day, Harriet is still a hypocritical, arrogant cop, but when you look at what she's gone through, what Atlas' culture has done to her, is it any wonder she's just a ball of repressed rage? For bonus points, if we assume Tortuga had a Semblance that slowed things down to compliment Harriet speeding up, then Marrow must've stung even worse, cause he didn't just take their spot on the team, he filled their _exact_ role.

@@johnyshadow Well, I believe WInter has been confirmed to be in her early to mid twenties, and while we don't have anything concrete on the Ace Ops' ages, they all (With the exception of Marrow, who is clearly younger) seemed to be in their late twenties to early thirties, like Robyn. Clover, at least, seemed to be closer to Qrow's age than Winter's, but I suppose that's a moot point.

Nice that penny is now back with Ruby, but that also means that colosseum is slowly falling back down from orbit. However, Penny not showing any physical damage from falling and burning up like a meteor is a bit odds. Two of the biggest highlights to me in this episode was Ren's semblance evolving and the hug between Schnee siblings.

Now, I’m aware that it will take a couple of months before the next chapter. And I’m aware that RWBY is well known for cliffhangers. That being said… GGGGUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Now that that is out of my system… -Chapter 6: War RWBY quote of the chapter _“I outrank you.” (WInter)_ -Attack on Atlas So we’re taking the _Lord of the Rings_ route to the war, eh? Nice. Ironwood seems to be becoming more and more unhinged, seemingly more enraged rather than neutral or worried. In some ways, this is his element as a general, but the battle is happening right in his backyard and more so, he had been trying to avoid this by moving Atlas away. But Salem made her move before he could make his and now he’s upset. The attack on Atlas also shows the type of lifestyle the people in Atlas. Due to their positioning in the sky, it’s likely that the Atleaseans rarely encounter any of the Grimm, if at all (with the exception of Huntsmen/Huntresses and soldiers). So their reaction to the threat is much more delayed, at least in comparison to those in Vale, which will lead to a greater rise of panic, which in turn will attract the Grimm even more strongly. And Salem is reveling in it, in an orchestra of chaos… -Oscar’s Gamble Honestly, Hazel’s motivations conflict with his actions and words. He says that it would it be easier for Ozpin to just tell him the truth and when Ozpin does tell him the truth, he doesn’t trust him. It is crazy that Salem let Hazel kill her (over and over again), but then you remember how she recruited others in the _Lost Fable_ , letting soldiers kill her just for her to revive and convince them to her cause. Also, when Oscar does tell Hazel the password as well as the one question remaining, he was oddly upset that he seemed to just give up. He may hate Ozpin, but there is a hint of respect from him regarding Oscar. Which is why it’s weird that he seems to forget that are (almost) one and the same… Oscar is definitely taking a chance, but he has shown that, like Ozpin, he knows that unity is the only way to defeat Salem. He is just now trying to bring in Salem’s subordinates to do the same against her. Plus, this shows the contrast between Oscar and Ozpin. While Ozpin (and all the lives prior) believed in keeping his secrets, Oscar sees that the truth is far stronger. And he is learning when to reveal such secrets from his previous experiences with team RWBY and the others. The downside of course is that Hazel may just give Salem the password and she obtains greater power, depending on her question. But despite what Hazel said about Salem bringing in a new world order, he knows deep down that isn’t Salem’s plan. Earlier on, he described Salem as a force of nature, and those are typical things that bring destruction. Granted, those also open a way to rebuild again, but he has to know that Salem isn’t that type of a person who is looking to rebuild anything, especially considering that she controls the Grimm, which only exists to destroy. -Unexpected developments Emerald overhearing the interrogation is an open door, showing an unexpected result from Oscar's gamble. Even though her devotion is to Cinder, she is perhaps the most sympathetic person of the group (her response to the destruction of the Fall of Beacon). Mercury is simply going on as he has a boss to give him orders, but now he may have second thoughts upon learning what Salem’s true motive is. Confirmed from Tyrian… Once I said that Tyrian is _The Joker_ of RWBY and this just proves it. He is perhaps the only person out of Salem’s group that knows what Salem really is and what she wants to do. Destruction incarnate... I’d imagine that everyone else in the group knows this, but choose to believe otherwise, despite the obvious. But with Tyrian, he, like his goddess, just wants to watch the whole world burn. Their trip to Vacuo also shows why Salem wasn’t worried about Ruby’s speech and in fact, seemed pleased with it. If everyone is going to Atlas, then Vacuo is vulnerable to a sneak assault, such as from a killer and an assassin. How they will work together or either how they’re going to get the Relic there isn’t said, but I’d imagine that the side story would help to clarify (sorry, I haven’t read it yet). -Semblance evolution Initially, it seemed to be that he could see a person’s emotions and in some ways, read them. Then he looked at himself and saw the same thing, it appears that it focuses on _suppressed emotions._ It seems to be indicated since you do not see Yang or Jaune, showing that there wasn’t emotions to suppressed with those two. Of great interest is Winter’s conflicting emotions. While the other four have a specific emotion that is concealed, Winter is holding back multiple emotions. That may be an issue, given that Winter have moments where her emotions cause her to snap. _"If you don’t mind your tongue, then I will gladly remove it from you!”_ -Hope and despair at Schnee manor It seems that despite Ruby’s speech, Salem’s attack has caused the young Huntress to feel downhearted. And while this isn’t the first time she’s had those types of feelings, at this critical time, it seems more potent. She’s still putting on a brave face, continuing to remind everyone that the only way through this is by working together, but this battle/war is something she never truly expected or experienced to this degree. The scene with Whitley shows for the first time that he may just beginning to realize that he is not just his father’s puppet, just like Weiss felt about herself years before. And Klein's pat on his shoulder seems to indicate that he may be the only one who had given him any real affection, which was further emphasized by his surprise at Weiss' thanks and embrace (which was just the sweetest thing ^_^). This may be the first time that may have happened to him regarding his sisters. To that point, it also shows Weiss' growth as well, taking to heart what their mother advised her as well as her own experience with team RWBY and the others on her journey. Penny! With the cliffhanger comes the question, what happened to her? It’s unknown whether or not either Cinder or the Hound got to her. Maybe she is fighting the hack and hurt herself in the process? Or maybe both things happened. Either way, it’s safe to assume that Cinder doesn’t have the power of the Winter Maiden since Penny is still alive and Atlas is still afloat. But if she was attacked, then it also safe to assume that she is being tracked, at which case it’s only a matter of time before she is found again and Ruby and her team will have to deal with either the Hound or Cinder. Maybe both… (shudder) A random thought/theory. What if it found out that the only way to defeat Salem is with the power of both light and dark? A person with traits/abilities that corresponds with the two gods? For the god of light, a being with silver eyes, a.k.a. Ruby. For the god of dark, a being who either can use magic, or someone with some of the traits of the Grimm. A.k.a. Cinder… If that comes to pass, then that would mean that somehow, Ruby and Cinder would have to join together to defeat Salem. Like I said, a random thought, but the possibilities of it…

It came in his moment of clarity. It's fitting for him, someone who suppresses his own emotions and has trouble reaching out, to have his semblance that involves feelings evolve further in the moment of high emotional tension. @@LumeanTV we have seen Emerald doupt, they didn't, as far they are concern Emerald is 100% a villain tool (she told them she doesn't care about Salem but is 100% a Cinder pet in Vol.5 finaly). About Ren clarity, I think it is deeper than that but it would take a wall of text to explain and I'm not in the mood of arguing with people atm. I was just amused by the obvious plot bridge/shortcut that is foreshadow right in front of our eyes. A preparation for an "I told you so" moment, if you will.

So. Thoughts. What if the way to save Penny is to pull a full-blown Pinocchio on her? She needs to get to the Vault of Creation and open it. Okay. Fine. Snag the Spear of Creation, use it on Penny before she blows herself up, and turn her into a Real Girl(tm)! Then quickly switch it back to keeping Atlas afloat so everyone doesn't die, but Penny was a girl and thus not hacked because hacking people isn't a thing, and the magic of being a Maiden keeps Penny as a Real Girl(tm)!

Emerald's semblance works on machines, apparently, so I guess it's no surprise it also works on grimm. Makes sense that Tyrian is the only minion who knows Salem's true purpose. I theorised that he was interested in Jaune because he could tell he hadn't unlocked his semblance, and Mercury never got his back. Ren's emotional turmoil triggers an evolution in his semblance; I think it looks like petals because his symbol is a flower. My expectation of an endoskeletal P-101 rising from the flames has been denied! Great chapter, it's only a shame that three of the four main character's don't do much.

Bisexuality is about who you're attracted to, meaning that you're attracted to two different genders. Non-binary is a gender identity, meaning that you don't identify as male or female.

Not rude at all! Bisexual is a sexuality- who you are attracted to. While usually applied to "boys and girls" it can also be "any two genders or your gender and another" where as non-binary is a gender ! Or rather an umbrella term. Gender is usually portrayed as binary, "boy or girl" where as non-binary is an umbrella term for not one of those two rigid options! Hopefully this isn't confusing!

To tack an extra bit onto Puns' explanation, where sexuality is about who you are attracted to, gender primarily about how you identify yourself. That's why something like being trans"gender" is about a person is usually about a person undergoing a social and/or physical change to transition from one gender to another (e.g. female to male), but is not related to who they are sexually attracted to. Similarly one can have a gender identity of non binary (which includes lots of different kinds of more granular gender identities other than male or female), and have any kind of sexual preference. The simple way to remember is gender is how you identify yourself and sexuality is who you are attracted to.
