@@blackvial Think about it, even if she didn't become a huntsman she probably still received the best training if not from her father then from the Atlas Academy. She also could have just been talented. Maybe she was on that path but something traumatized her. It also could be from any abuse from Jacques. But he seemed to be more of heartbreak & disgust. She fell to pieces as soon as the Grimm was mentioned. Could be PTSD.

@@blackvial Yeah, but not everyone who unlocks their aura becomes a huntsman. Some unlock their aura/semblance without training, a la Ren when the Nuckelavee attacked his village. Though, she would have had to face a boarbatusk at some point to summon it, I guess.

@@Lolamy Yes thank you! It has been indicated that the ability to summon is on willows side of the family not jaques, and she has been known to be able to summon! She is absolutely out of practice from years of alcoholism but you can see it in her throughout this episode by putting the bottle down she worked up the strength to summon an Alpha Boarbatusk

My reasoning is based on Maria's flashback to her fight with Tock. I think Cinder is a first attempt at adding Grimm parts to a human to see if it's viable and the Fox/Hound is the first experiment to see what would happen if Grimm was added to a silver-eyed warrior.

I think there mY still be a chance. Tock did say that Salem wanted maria dead, but, she was the only one who said specifically that. Hazel only mentioned that we have "dealt with their kind before". It's possible that Tock wanted to kill maria. But that wouldn't explain why Tock didn't kill Maria then, she was going to show her mercy. I dunno, I just think that if summer was one of salems grimm luitenents, it would be incredible for Rubies character development. Imagine how emotional that scene would be! What if it's possible to revert from grimm to human again? That could be a huge thing for Ruby, Ruby us unbreakable and I love that about her. But I think that seeing her break down like that would be upsetting. But in a good story telling kinda way. Also, Salem has never mentioned "killing" summer. Onyk that she had a run in with her. I also don't think that that's going to be the case, but it won't stop me from hoping! Hell, I still holding on to hopes if Roman's return.

I think Ruby using her Silver Eyes is less about her getting better and more about her frame of mind and the situation she's facing. When Ruby is in a situation where the Grimm she's fighting are just a general threat, she'll need a moment to concentrate to make anything happen. And even then her eyes might not go off. But she's able to use her eyes without really think when someone she cares about in in immediate danger. Or, in the case of Cinder last season, when a visceral reaction to the Grimm she's fighting. Also, does the hound remind anyone else of Venom from the Ultimate universe?

Holy shit I now fear for Summer's fate MORE than ever before... Given she tried to confront Salem alone and has been gone for years. If this is just one Silver Eyed Warrior who Salem turned into a Grimm...that is obviously leaps and bounds more dangerous than most Grimm...What kind of Grimm could she make out of Summer? Who was an experienced huntress and team leader of her own team, Team STRQ no less? How many Silver Eye Warriors does she have to experiment with and how long has she been doing this?! I mean think back to V4 really quick with me here. Hazel mentioned they was use to dealing with Silver Eye Warriors in the past AND Salem sent Tyrian to capture Ruby with orders to bring her to Salem ALIVE! Where as Tock wanted Maria dead, BUT Summer Rose's body was never recovered OR seen. Salem even admits to hearing the same words Ruby said from Summer. Meaning these must have had a face to face confrontation before when she went off on her like Qrow told Ruby about in V7. Summer's secret was that she went off to face Salem alone...and for all we know, she could easily be another possible test subject. ESPECIALLY if you seen the next episode, trust me. Salem's expression says it all in the next episode as she converses with Yang. THAT is the only hint I will give. If Salem ever felt the need, she could even send Summer to go after Ruby, to emotionally and psychologically break her even MORE than she has... I doubt we seen the last of these Grimm Hybrids.

-Chapter 8: Dark Talk about ominous… especially for a mid-season episode… Oh, and 100 episode!!! RWBY quote of the chapter _“Take. The. Girl!” (The Hound Grimm)_ -One step at a time Is it my imagination or did Whitley sound a lot like Jaune at that scene, not just the fact that he came up the plan, but also in his tone and gestures? At that moment, you completely forgot his previous persona. But it’s great that he’s taking an active role in helping people, which is a surprise in itself. Maybe helping Nora and the response he received from both Klein and Weiss made him realize something more, why his sister wanted to be a huntress? Particularly good to see was the bit of banter between him and Weiss, which is just the type of behavior you see with siblings. Like many others in this, Willow’s name is very apt to her character. Regularly shaky and nervous, except when she’s inebriated. And even then, it shows how damaged her psyche is as the current situation has her grasping the wine bottle like a lifeline. However, she was able to keep herself under control (point for her throwing away the wine bottle in order to focus) enough to help Weiss and save Whitley with her summon. And the fact that she was able summon means than she mastered her semblance to that point past glyphs. Likely she learned from her father, but I wonder if she was a Huntress (or whatever equivalent would be for her to be ‘combat-ready’) before she married Jacques? And suddenly I’m interested in background information of the Schnee family before Jacques… Also, isn’t it amazing how these two managed to finish off the Hound? Yes, Ruby did weaken it, but still…two civilians taking on one of the most dangerous Grimm around. -Ladybug Moment With everything progressing from bad to worse, it’s no wonder Ruby is becoming more and more disheartened, so it was nice that Blake help her up. And while this was their main conversion since the first volume, Blake does bring up a word or two to Ruby in those brief moments (as per her nature; _Kali: “You have never been very talkative…”),­_ particularly in recent times. Her words at the beginning of Volume 7 for example, “We’ll follow your lead” are repeated here, which also shows the trust she has for Ruby. A small, yet significant moment. Something also the note, with a team that, with regards to their individuality, they draw close to their partner, it is often limited with regards to their counter-partner (Ladybug & Freezer Burn). This scene is perhaps the equivalent to the scene with Yang and Weiss on an earlier volume. Yang spoke about her troubles and Weiss was there to listen and comfort her. A nice change of pace… The interaction was further seen when Ruby was knocked out and in danger and Blake had to fight the Centiaur, all the while encouraging Ruby further to let her know that she was still needed. And not just at this moment with their current/immediate situation, but for the future and the trials to come. -Grimm Evolution _“Can you be more disgusting?!”_ So now, in addition with the Hound, another new Grimm emerged, the Centiaur, which seem to be an advanced version of the Centinel, dangerous enough that Blake was almost killed. Funny how the Grimm are basically grouped between mobs and bosses, much like a videogame. Mob - Centinel/Cenitaur - Boss Mob - Lancers/Queen Lancer - Boss Mob - Chimeras/Sphinx - Boss -Resistance is futile It’s good to know that the hack that was controlling Penny isn’t complete and that she was still fighting it. Also, a nice moment with Nora to help him settle down (echoing Blake’s words earlier: _“It’s just a part of you. Don’t forget about the rest.”_ ). But she ultimately, she succumbed and began to follow the program (at least she didn’t go _Terminator_ on anyone; that would have been _really_ bad). It seemed odd at first that Penny’s order was to self-terminate after she opens the vault, but maybe Salem is covering up her bases. She knows that both her Hound and Cinder are going after her, but in the event that if either fail to reach Penny, she has Penny herself as an option. Ultimately, Salem doesn’t care who gets the Relic as long as someone gets it. It may explain why Cinder doesn’t just rush out to reach Penny like before, but rather to use her time to retrieve Watts (likely for her own schemes). -Horror of the Hound I could not have been the only one who say a scene or two and thought specifically about the kitchen scene in _Jurassic Park_ with the velociraptors. Even creepier was whenever it spoke as well as well and its mannerisms and movements. Add that it has all the elements of other Grimm and that it can call about others; clearly Salem created a monster. Which leads to its true horror; its identity… A faunus with silver eyes… There is so much to that. I believed that silver-eyed warriors were just like the Maidens and thus generally were female (Ruby, Summer, Maria), so this is first time seeing a male with silver eyes. Further was the Hound was a fox faunus, going with the theme of _The Fox and the Hound._ And then the fact that it had a skeleton shows that it was a hybrid; a melding between a creature of light and darkness. A Grimm with a human/faunus soul… And such the theory-mill runs wild…

Your reaction is great, glad to see you back, with the show. It was good episode, the hound and all the horror done nicely. Blake and Ruby had nice talk, but I think the party, aside Oscar and Jaune, don't really helpful, when it come to Ruby. They only put more pressure over Ruby, instead take form her pressure. Although the young age made it hard to understand the situation, I think kids able to cope better then adults with these kind situation. They view over the world are less fixed then some of adults.

Seriously, Whitley comes through! Not only did he call Klein for Nora, but he's come up with a plan and way to save the people in the Crater, hopefully before Salem drops Atlas on top of it! Whitley got it started under the pressure of hacking Jacques computer, and had the presence of mind to "click" to start it while the Hound was in the room before escaping! And Willow saved him with the Boar Summons. So Willow comes through too. Whitley has started his journey toward the right side! And since Weiss and Winter are now completely dedicated as warriors against the powers of death and darkness; Whitley can actually be the one to remake the Schnee Dust company into a something that can really serve all its workers and it's community, and not just it's shareholders and profits margin. Like good companies used to do: pay their people well, take care of their workers and their families, and care for the communities where the company is based. A real "people first" corporation, because if you take care of your people, the profits will take care of you both!

Funnily enough, by bringing up the resemblance to the Brood Mother from Dragon Age, you've made another thematic link the two series like to employ, and one I always love to see in fantasy, horror etc - Brood Mothers are horrific to behold, even worse when understood. See, Darkspawn often don't kill everything they raid on the surface, they take prisoners. It's often regarded by the people of Thedas that these poor souls are to become food. And, most do, but not in the way assumed. The Darkspawn like to take women of species (humans, dwarves, elves, and Qunari), then...turn them. They will, it's heavily implied, forcefully fill their female victims with their taint (a dark, highly toxic substance/ichor they radiate and protrude), and keep their victim alive by feeding her the flesh of her own species. This goes on for a long time. The process eventually causes a mutation in the victim, who has devolved into a bastardisation of her own race, and by proxy been forcefully transformed into a Darkspawn herself, whose only remaining role is to birth more Darkspawn so the process can begin anew. The Darkspawn know the best way forwards is to assimilate the best traits of their enemy, and consume their very identity. And now, it's clear, Salem and the Grimm - whilst not going as diabolical as the Spawn on Thedas in method, do agree with the same principle...

I clicked off after the reaction since I had to go finish some artwork/animation, but I'm surprised that yu didn't notice that the "Hound" has a silver eye, therefore, a silver eyed warrior. My head theory is putting two and two together, and it's actually getting me anxious if it comes true, but I'm not gonna say anything here. Anyway, stay hydrated everyone. Ah shit, this reminds me to do some updated artwork of my RWBY OC too...that's collecting hella dust, and not the awesome kind of dust -___-

About Willow’s summon, of what I understand all Schnees (at least the females) can summon. :) Also, am i just overthinking it or is it something special in Willow's voice when she said hi to Cline? Like she did had a crush on him but had to go with the the Jaqueass? (And bad joke I know)

Also grandpa Nicholas, so it's more that Whitley has no talent for fighting. He presumably has the semblance but not the skill to unlock it (Weiss struggled with summoning until she was like 17 and a half, after all)
