Kinda reminds me of how there's no official ending where Ib dies but Garry and Mary escape. There is an UNofficial one, but Kouri doesn't like it and refuses to put it in any future updates.

There's like a lot of people in the comment section wanting the ending of all three escaped, or discussing how they like one ending over another. I want an ending where ib, knowing that only two could escape, sacrifice herself so the other two can get what they want. i.e leaves the place & go to the real world. After ib's death we switch to either Mary or Garry's POV, whom both escapes. Mary wanted to kill Garry during this awkward time of escaping (yeah because she don't like him anyways duh) but didn’t do so because she did not want to be alone again, and on the other hand Garry didn't kill Mary because he knows ib do not want that to happen after her sacrifice. Coming back from the world both of them could not recall what had happen. Mary, in ib's place, become ib's parent's daughter (that sounded weird). This time ib's portrait is displayed at the art gallery. Mary met Garry again, who is staring at the portrait with an unknown feeling of grief. “I’m not sure why, but this painting make me feel that I have lost someone important to me.” says Garry. Despite the happiness and excitement she felt when she first came to this world, Mary felt the same unknown grief. She cried uncontrollably into Garry's coat, and while Garry was overwhelmed by the fact that he had made a little girl cry, he felt tears filling up his eyes as well.

Emily Cao Possibly, but it's implied that Ib and Garry, or Garry at least, are dead. A Lady in Blue is playing "Loves Me, Loves Me Not" with Garry's rose, and there's little chance that he would be able to get it back in time should he wake up. The Red Rose, however, is lying on the floor near Ib's head, and there's no sign of red pedals on the floor anywhere; There's still the same amount of pedals on Ib's rose as there were when she entered the room. If she were to wake up before Mary or the Lady in Red finds it, (Or possibly the Lady in Blue after she's done with the Blue Rose) she could escape, assuming she wanted to.

Theory: Maybe Mary was Guertena's daughter, and not the last painting of Guertena's life. And when her parents died, she often visited the gallery in their rememberance and came across the Fabricated World, where she met Garry, or 'Forgotten Potrait'. Garry went insane in the gallery and was desperate to escape from the dreaded world, so he switched with Mary. While Garry gained sanity in the real world and forgot about the switch, Mary just lost all of her sanity in the Fabricated world and wanted nothing more than: 1) get revenge on Garry 2) see the beauty of the real world again - Now... what if Ib's parents... were the reincarnations of Guertena and his wife?! That make's Ib kind of like Mary's sister, which is why Mary is fond of her. And the reason why she hates Garry is because of the switch.

that makes her much more tragic, I thought of writing something like this, have Ib (one way or another) know about the switch and at that point when you reach the point where you can choose to kill Garry or not(by letting Mary take his blue rose), have Ib reveal that she knows about 'what he did', which could cause him to panic. The Forgotten Portrait, found out, and getting what he had coming. With Mary getting her revenge. On her return to the real world, it could feature Mary's sanity being restored, after this the 'Forgotten Portrait' becomes part of urban legend, the portrait that beckons people in to the Fabricated World to take their place(almost sounds like the set-up for an SCP doesn't it?)

Maybe a close friend, or even ex-wife/girlfriend, and before he died she left him and married Ib's father, so as an act of grief, he painted the love of his life alongside her now husband, which would explain why there's a portrait of Ib's parents on the fabricated world

@@Cosmicdaydreamer the way I came to it was the existence of the portrait which led me to ask why, and after using logic I was able to create the whole 'Guertena is Ib's maternal grandfather' idea, we can even mix this into the original theory, and give a potential reason for Mary's name in the Together, Forever ending(of course, we know the actual reason): Guertena had 2 daughters, Mary(who died young) and (this name is a placeholder I found in a Harry Potter Crossover of all things) Ilona (Ib's mother), so if we use the Together, Forever ending would it seem too outrageous to imagine naming a potential sister Mary so to remember her deceased aunt?

Mary being a painting, remembers Ib. Garry, however, does not. When speaking to people, they can come across Ib's parents (who of which never had a child and Garry said: "Seemed familiar") and a man (Who says: "Your little sister looks like one of those beautiful girls from out of a painting! Could I have a picture?") until Garry notices a pining of a girl wrapped in a red rose's thorns. When Mary sees the picture she bursts into tears. The picture is titled "goodbye" and the girl in the painting is Ib. -Not all details are included, and there IS a song for this ending, with fan made lyrics. The maker requested earphones, as do I, because the song ((Seka) puppet (Ib All Alone) (Fanlyrics)) includes Ib's cries. This could alert family members or friends nearby. I have made that mistake. Try earphones. Ib, the most badass RPG horror character eva bishes Not in my eyes. Mary actually HAS character; and an amazingly well- done character too. Why? Look at what I sent to you a little while ago. People DISAGREE on whether she's evil or not, and which side you take speaks leagues about yourself. Garry, on the other hand, is just a strong guy that follows you around and gets scared of everything. The only substantial character development I saw in him was trading his rose for Ib's.
