My dachshund Yumi just passed away last night due to heart attack, I didn’t see it coming. She was the sweetest thing, she always protects me, from rats, from strangers. She was just so territorial and very caring. She was my best friend, and always there when I’m crying and not feeling well. Dachshund are the best breed out there. They will love you unconditionally and will alway be there through ups and downs. 12 years but it is never enough. I wish I could spend more time with my Yumi. But life goes on. I wish dogs can love even more longer like humans. Because they deserve to. They’re more loyal than humans. Kiss your dog and always cheer them up. Like they do with us.

Dear Brit, you surely were crying when you wrote your comment. I have dachshunds but I had also rescued a couple of poodles 10 years ago and one of them, Penny, was the dog love of my life. She passed away in October and I still cry. I had lost other dogs but penny’s death crushed me. I couldn’t even talk to people for three weeks. All this to say that reading about you and your Yumi immediately brought tears to my eyes. George Carlin said we are supposed to know when we get our pets that “it is going to end badly. We are purchasing a small tragedy.” I know that and I have lost other dogs but Penny’s death broke my heart. It just means now whenever a friend, an acquaintance or a perfect stranger (like you) tell me their little girl or little guy died, the tears start and my heart breaks again for whoever has newly suffered a loss. About twenty years ago a book came out called “the lovely bones”. It was about a girl who was narrating the story from heaven after she had been murdered. It wasn’t a very good book at all but there was one passage that tells about ten years after she died, her dog passed away from old age. In the book she writes about seeing her dog come bounding across the field to her as they meet again in the afterlife and how the dog is so happy to see her, it knocks her down in its excitement.. I cry every time I tell someone about it. Take care. Stay safe

I lost my Dauxie about 11months ago and it was heart breaking. But we just got a new Dauxie she is the best and brings us so much joy. She has a similar routine as your pup. I love this breed so much. Yours is adorable as well, I wish the best with your pup!! Also sorry for your loss its so hard when they are a huge part of your life. It'll get easier, just remember the amazing life you provided for your pup!!

Yes for sure. My brother and girlfriend each have a dachshund, few years apart but you wouldn't know it. They go just about everywhere together, including fishing on a boat.

Enjoyed watching, I have a Dauschund, he came to our door in 2007 , we tried to find it owner, but after few days, we adopted him and he became ours. He has been a very loving addition to our family. He has brought us joy, and laughter. 😀💕

Yep looks about right, all the things these pups like sleeping, breakfast, playing , sun, and the most important cuddles. Lol we've had dashound for 25 year and just added two new soles to our family. Just doesn't seem like a home without 8" height terror ripping through the house. Lol thanks for sharing 🙂

Isn't it funny how every dachshund is different... but the same? My mini blonde long hair Miss Cherokee had the same morning routine as Sully...almost. First thing she'd go out to stretch and pee, then back in for breakfast while I showered, then outside again after my shower to poo and chase a squirrl or a bird, then back inside to her favorie spot on the couch for a nap until I left for work. Then outside one last time to pee and into her crate until her caretaker arrived midday for her potty break. She passed 5/20/20 from cancer and I still miss her terribly. She was my baby, my gal. She gave me 12 incredible years. Gawd I miss her still.

She reminds me of the standard dachshund my family had. Got her just after she was weaned. She looked just like this precious mini. Had her for 13 years. She was my best friend. Zach W my 7 year old short hair mini sleeps in bed by my left leg as if it were a birthright since day one. Gets a mid night drink of water in bed. In the morning happy, sweet, cute, lovable....need I go on.

@Zach W sounds like my hubby. He thought our "poor wee girl" was lonely, so he brought her in to bed. Suffice it to say, a Cal King bed wasn't big enough for the 3 of us. She'd sleep horizontally, so I ended up sleeping on the edge of mattress.

Karen K He’s stubborn and very spoilt and yes I’m old enough to remember the movie unfortunately lol But a little concerned now as little Arthur is losing his hair underneath on his chest and it’s creeping to his ears now. Been looking it up and I’ve found out it’s incurable

@@kennethbarnes2297 I'm glad you mentioned this, my Barney had hair loss (starting under his arms but spread), constant itching, and odor. I took him to the vet and, if this is the same thing (an allergy), it can be managed with a daily Apoquel pill (you can cut it down to 1/2 a pill a day after a bit) and frequent medicated shampoo baths. The vet prescribed CK Phytovet by Henry Schein, you can get it on Amazon. It's the only shampoo that works for him.

Karen K thank you for this advice and will be taking him vets this weekend It’s such a shame on him as he’s only 9 months old and his ears are nearly bald and underneath is hairless At first I thought I may be he’s a pup and his hair is still growing but it’s the opposite now I’ve had to buy him a few jumpers and coats just to keep him warm

I love my weenie hounds! Best hunting dogs there ever was. My weenie hounds have the best noses, smart, and really loving to people. Not loving towards critters though, they can find a deer that didn't buckle at the shot faster than a guided missle.

You're a great parent to provide a ramp for Sully! Many dachshund owners are unaware of the need to protect their dog's long and fragile backs. I've seen too many dachshunds in pain and suffering due to IVDD.

My Scooter boy Dashchund passed two months ago today. I am still heartbroken. He was a sad stray who came here shortly after I moved here to help a friend. He was so happy to be brought in and loved and treasured. He became very sick and I'd do it all again. 8 years was just not enough time.
