Charlie shows us all the care, work and expense that goes into raising a healthy happy dog. This is why we should support responsible breeders! Well done BlackFire Cavaliers!

I love all these videos so much. I don’t get to see my cavalier as often as I would like because I share him with an ex, so these bring me a lot of comfort to watch before I go to bed. Thanks for sharing :)

Congratulations on your puppies! I'm happy for you. We lost our precious almost 9 year old tri-color Max to congestive heart failure this past Saturday. It's been heartbreaking - you've been there, I'm sure, so you know how we feel. He was the sweetest dog ever. I'm sad, but it makes my heart happy to see Miss Apple and her babies! Thank you for sharing your Cavalier life with all of us.

I know exactly how you feel. We have been through the loss of a beloved Cavalier more times than anyone could imagine. It's never easy.

I lost a beautiful Cavalier in the past as well. Her name was Gracie and I still think about her everyday. I have a male Blenheim now (Teddy) who is a joy as well. I don’t think I’d ever have another breed of dog. Cavaliers are so beautiful, inside and out. Know that God is holding your pup warmly to be sure. May it bring you comfort knowing you will be together again someday.🐶🐾

@@chaskat35 but the pain of loss is worth the love they give, isn't it? Thank you for your comforting words. And may the puppies thrive!

@@dawnmendez8375 Thank you for your kind words of comfort. We do know he's in heaven (after all, Jesus returns on a horse, so there's got to be animals there). We are the same - we've lost 2 Cavies over the last 13 months, but even with the health issues, their love is worth it. We really want to get another sweet Cav in time, but want to know we're working with someone who watches blood lines and genetics carefully. A while back, we went to meet a 2 yr old being retired but he wasn't "the one". I said it's like finding the right man - you know it when you see it, LOL! May you continue to be blessed with Teddy.

Don’t worry about all the “poop” talk, my boyfriend gives me daily updates on our cavalier’s poop on a daily basis, whether I ask for it or not. It’s an obsession. I bet when I tell his about yr recommendation to drop off a sample for lab every six months, he’ll do it today and put it in his calendar 😂 Poop is everything 😆😉

Seeing this reaffirms that I don't want to have a litter of puppies! They're a lot of work--and a lot of worry!! But they certainly are adorable. Thank goodness we have good breeders who go through the work and worry so the rest of us can have dogs in our lives.

Thank you so much for your update on Sherlock and Watson... I learned so much and really appreciate your extraordinary care and love for these dogs. Seeing the entire experience you go through as a breeder and how you handle such scenarios (such as the puppies not gaining weight at the rate you'd hope etc) is such a great window into all the care and knowledge needed to raise such beautiful dogs. There is a lot that goes into breeding that we are not aware of and again I appreciate you educating us and showing us how you manage. Love your videos and thank you yet again. Kisses to all the pooches!

Thank you for sharing this process with us. No cav owner will be weirded out by poop talk ;) Also wanted to ask; how is Teddy doing? He was such a pretty and interesting little fella. Hope he found a lovely home.
@chaskat3528 күн бұрын
Teddy is now living in a wonderful home in California. The new owner flew to New York to meet with the breeder, and to take Teddy home.

My first cavalier was a complicated pooper throughout his life. I tried so many things. New boy is pretty consistent. Interesting to see how you're adjusting to address the puppies' needs. I shudder to think what would happen with Apple and her pups in less skilled and vigilant hands. Does this mean Apple won't be a candidate to breed again? Just curious.
@chaskat3528 күн бұрын
This would not necessarily rule her out - I've bred girls who had problems with one litter, and did fine with the next. The big factor would be whether or not WE have the stamina to do it again.

I was thinking how do you get milk to increase- for women giving formula is the worse thing to do. I was going to suggest a request for puppies from a dog who had too many. But I wonder if you could have a mammary pump -
@chaskat3528 күн бұрын
We have tried everything to increase Apple's milk production, all to no avail. At this point, we have to accept the fact that, although the pups nurse regularly, they will get no more than a few drops from her. When I commit to full-time formula feeding, I am accepting the responsibility to continue it until weaning. The benefit, however, is regular growth, which they have not had for the first week. By the way, I do have some homemade breast pumps, but they don't do any more than the pups do.

I do not know much about dogs or puppies. Isn't he way too young for a vet?
@chaskat3510 күн бұрын
We generally don't take our puppies to the vet until they are 9-10 weeks old, and that's just to establish that they are in good health. On occasions like this, we have to bring them in at a younger age, and we are careful to take precautions so that they are not exposed to any disease from other dogs.
