An extra tip, if I may add, encourage strangers who meet your puppy to give them a treat! Socialize them when they're young!
@bubblyperson18285 жыл бұрын
Spooky Potatoes that’s not a good thing because someone can give them a treat and take them. So it’s kinda good because of the fact that they are socialised. It’s bad because of the fact that someone could take your dog. Just a tip 😁.

I think that is for human children

Spooky Potatoes , great advice but I agree with the comments as it’s such a gorgous puppy if you teach him to trust creepy strangers like that then it’s gonna be super easy for them to steal her 😪

Excellent pointers! I would add to the list learning clicker training and making sure the behaviorist teaching any puppy/dog classes is using positive reinforcement techniques.

Beagle Baby Beastie thank you and great tips yourself!:) I haven't looked into clicker training but it sounds cool! 🐶❤
@BeagleBabyBeastie6 жыл бұрын
Once the dog associates a 'click' with getting a reward, it becomes a 100% standard way of telling him "Good Job! Get ready for a treat!" It takes a little practice to get the hang of, but Beast learned everything from Sit to house-training to being a good copilot in the car with it. A good trainer can help you with doing it right (most of the time when it's done in movies they do it wrong)
@AlexandriaRobinson6 жыл бұрын
Wow that's impressive! Daisy is a wiggle worm copilot! She wants to be looking out the window and putting her paws on the wheel and getting in the other seats. I might need to try that!

Great tip! I'll try this with my 8 y.o. granddaughter's 5 mo. old Pom that I'm helping to train. Sprinkles loves peas so I'll use those.
@GretchenVaughn5 жыл бұрын
The power strip in a box is a really good idea! I'll have to try it. I'm on my second pom and can only watch this because my ten week old puppy is tuckered out today. Using a harness with a leash is vital, even if the Pom doesn't pull. I've seen people asking about where to get them for super tiny puppies. Dinky Dog Club has ultra choke-free harnesses, tiny collars, balls that are easy for little mouths to fetch-my puppy is a walking ad for them! It's clear you have a wonderful trust and rapport with Daisy so she will let you bath, brush and teeth brush her. I use either gauze or cloth finger brushes. A teenie sized Greenie once a day does wonders as well (when the pups are old enough).
@briankriens56455 жыл бұрын
Absolutely correct on the oral care for your pom. It will save you a LOT of money when your furball gets older. The better you care for their teeth, the healthier they will be. :)

Hi!! You have some nice tips there! My Pom died last year in September at the age of 14. Her name was Judy and She was my best friend!😊 2 things I'd like to add. 1. A harness is not necessary. I never used one and my Judy was small even for a Pom. A well fitted collar is actually the best you can get. Don't put the collar on the throat but at the verry top of the neck. (A harness is designed for pulling for. I'm a dog walker so I have experience with other small beteeds as well.) 2nd. I'm not so sure about. I live in Germany so maybe it's different here... or it's just me! The pad... A dog peeing in the house or a pad in the house?!? Is a BIG NO NO!! A puppy needs to go potty within 10 min after a meal or drink and every 1 to 2 hours during the day in adult dogs a bowl movement takes approximately 30 min. Thx for the video nice to see a happy Pom every now and then!💓
@AlexandriaRobinson6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for these tips! and I'm sorry to hear about your pom. They really are the perfect best friend! I haven't used her collar to walk her. I hardly make her wear it and I'm worried she will slip out when I walk her! She loves to run when she gets loose lol! About the pee pad, Now that I don't live in the country and more in the urban area. I don't have a fence so it was just easier and I don't think much of it now. Thank you for your tips

False info... harness is safer espec with pom and ppl can peepad train if it suits their needs dont judge
@saramations5 жыл бұрын
@@ND-oz5lt well, dog owners need to chose their own battles on this subject. poms and toy breeds are susceptible as older adults to form a collapsed trachea. sometimes it's completely genetic and unavoidable, harness or not. problems start accruing because the dog pulls on it's leash continuously and it damages the throat; we're talking years here. So it's just best to teach a dog how to walk on a structured walk first and use a harness later. but harness can also cause problems too. it can irritate their chests and armpits.
@arleenbor3614 жыл бұрын
You definitely need a harness with Pomeranians. They are a breed that are known for collapsing tracheas. Also if a dog pulls a lot, a harness is always recommended so you are not putting pressure on their throat.

This is a great video for people who are fairly new to pet ownership. Other tips are choose raw dehydrated or frozen food for health and longevity. Peas should not be in the first 3 ingredients. Oatmeal or grains should not be in the ingredients, liver from beef, chicken, turkey are some of the best ingredients for the top 3. The less meat meal the better though it is hard to find food without these fillers. Make sure the foods have mixed tocopherols. Add fish oil as a supplement (salmon is best) for healthy teeth, nails and coat. Just a few added tips to compliment an amazing video. Also, never train a pom to dance, hop, walk on hind legs. They will do it some naturally and thats ok but it should not be encouraged and of it becomes a huge habit should be discouraged to prevent patella Luxation, a painful condition requiring expensive surgery that is very common in Poms. Always provide steps for climbing to discourage jumping.

My Alex is adjusting, sometimes grumpy sometimes plays with her but they will be fine : ) Very good info on your video, never thought of the shoe box idea!! @callmemayonakanohitogomini18084 жыл бұрын
If you’re getting a puppy make sure to always take her out after she plays, sleep, eats , drinks ect. Just wait until the puppy did her thing outside, give her some treats afterwards and that’s it. (Don’t go out for too long because the puppy is just a baby and doesn’t have the best stamina when it comes to long exaggerated walks but you can start with that as soon as she gets older.

Hey, just so you know, dogs have varying degrees of tearing and tear stains. I’ve had many dogs over the years and two of them were white Pomeranians. One of them had terrible tear stains. The doctors told me that she had blocked tear ducts and her eyes were going to water and there was not much I could do about it. I just wanted to mention this. It’s not necessarily neglect or gross if you see a dog that has tear stains. Sometimes these little dogs have blocked tear ducts and they’re going to have tear stains and there’s not a whole lot that can be done about it besides keeping it clean. I tried angel eyes, I tried all the different wipes, I tried withholding foods that were known for increasing staining like sweet potatoes, and in the end my routine was this: I used a wet cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide on it to try to lighten the stains daily. Hydrogen peroxide can burn the skin if it’s straight so I diluted it by putting it on a wet cotton ball. 30 minutes later I would clean with a warm wet washcloth. I also put Aquaphor on her tear stains every three days or so.

one good thing to note is when dairy is okay, when you have a pregnant dog you dont want to give calcium pills until they are whelping so they can get extra calcium to help with colostrum making is to add cottage cheese to their afternoon feeding.

also it appears daisy still has some retained puppy teeth, its important to get those pulled as they can cause a lot of problems because a lot of times in poms some puppy teeth refuse to fall out

You know, I always wondered that because she never really lost any of her teeth. Should I take her to the vet?

usually it's best to take them to get to get any baby teeth left in their mouth to get pulled at 6-8 months so as a breeder yes I would recommend you take her to the vet to get the last couple pulled.

Good advice. Maybe replace peanut butter with "peanut butter without xylitol" avoid confusion. Regular peanut butter has xylitol in it.
