Brilliant video. I have never had a GSD as a puppy, had to work with rescues. My Danny, who was a Jack Russell, picked up his name basically without lure, just got praised as he was paying attention to me. Same was with Oliver , our Vizsla / whatever mix. In hindsight I was lucky- never taught them their name, yet they picked it up. :) Your explanation is brilliant and priceless! Can't wait to start your perfect puppy course once we get our little Shepherd puppy:)

So my pup isn’t interested in food, toys, etc. He just keeps trying to play and bite and jump around. I got him today but he is starting to chew things up, and I can’t get him to look at me at all. What do I do?

My gsd puppy keeps on biting my ankle how can I stop him doing that?
@trevormerivale68824 жыл бұрын
Pliers? Noooooo don't do that. You need to have appropriate things for your dog to chew on hand. So if it's a specific toy keep that close by AT ALL TIMES until you puppy understand that people are not a chew toy. The moment your puppy decides to bite ANYTHING INAPPROPRIATE that could be your ankle or it could be the chair leg or the couch or the cat whatever as soon as the puppy bites you give a correction which a simple ahhhh uhhhhh or just uhhhhh, no, anything like that, (but always be consistent you could say always be a calm and consistent leader) this should break puppies focus on what they want to bite then you give them the toy that you want them to chew on as a replacement, when your puppy is biting the right things then praise your dog. You have a gsd, so it shouldn't take too long for your puppy to grasp what you are wanting it to do. Remember a dogs jaw is like our hands they need strength in their jaw to eat, and pull and as a just in case so biting helps that, it also helps scratch that itch of the natural instincts to bite, and I believe psychologically it can help them too but I'm not certain on that one. If you watch German Shepherd Man one thing he always says is correct within a second, and praise within a second. If you let your dog chew your ankle for a couple of minutes and then try to correct it, it doesn't understand why now it can't chew your ankle but it could for the last couple of minutes. Goodluck with your issue, but always remember your dog needs your guidance to know what it can and can't do and your dog will learn quicker and be more confident if you set it up to succeed, if your dog has failures and is punished (not corrected but punished) you will probably make training harder on yourself and especially your dog

@@johnspalimattom9093 that's fantastic. Just in case anyone else that reads this was wondering, how quickly did your puppy stop chewing and what method did you use to help your puppy stop, was it just different toys specifically for chewing?
@johnspalimattom90934 жыл бұрын
@@trevormerivale6882 Yeah I used a set of rope toys available in Amazon... I would show him the toy and distract him when he bites me.. I used to switch each toy in 3 days so that he doesn't get bored with one.. I took a while like more than 1week...But it sure did work now he doesn't bite me ever! Just licks me(a lot) ... Thanks for spending ur time in replying to me.

@@johnspalimattom9093 not a problem that's awesome that you have corrected your dogs behaviour so that he knows what you expect from him. That's great what you done and hopefully your experience helps more people 😊 you said thank you for me time to respond, but you have done far more for anyone that reads this than I could have done, so thank you for you time and effort. Have a great day my friend

Do gsd pups bites hurt i don’t have one but i want one
@Be_An_Esther2 жыл бұрын
They can cut skin very easily, and bruise. It's not aggressive, just puppy play which needs correcting, but their teeth are tiny razors 😂
