Jay Leno's garage, a Pur Sang, quality craftsmanship and beautiful film-making. This should get an Oscar. From the UK, dig these vids.

I have not been able to stop watching this video. No joke, I've seen it probably 100 times in the last week. I have always thought older cars were boring and lame but something about the Type 35 is just so right.

The prewar era of racing was the most dangerous, intense, and fascinating. Our producer wanted to do Pur Sang after watching a video on their work. The fact that everything is done by hand makes it the purest form of auto enthusiasm we've encountered thus far.

To be fair this isn't even a replica. If every part of the car is made exactly the same as the original, then they are building brand new bugatti sports cars from an original design. So in essence they have actually continued it's production rather than replicate it :) I wish there were more people building cars like this. What I also like seeing is when people restore old Aston martins and jaguars, but electronically tuning the original block designs with better timing components. So the engine designs are being fully utilised

I like your films and the subjects you pick, but the soundtrack is always, always so intrusive, distracting, clashing with the the visuals... I'm seeing a wood steering wheel and leather belt fastened hood, but I hear Roland TR-808-like 'clap' samples. There's a pre-war Bugatti on my screen, but what is coming out of my speakers is a stanced AE86.

Any word on how Bugatti feels about it?
@ElectricFederal10 жыл бұрын
We'd assume VW (owner of the Bugatti license) is not happy, but Ettore Bugatti built these cars in the tens--not hundreds, not thousands, just tens. Most Bugatti replicas are, like it or not, VW kit cars.
@joevanseeters28739 жыл бұрын
+Christopher B I am thinking Bugatti is probably OK with it. They created a new Bugatti Veyron "Pur Sang" Edition. Anyone that can replicate the EXACT, and it is EXACTLY the same car that Bugatti built when he was alive is a true craftsman. Even Bugatti himself would probably have a hard time knowing the difference although, yes, i'm sure he probably could have figured it out. But we are fortunate to have Pur Sang building these replicas for the, I dare say, "the everyday man", albeit a RICH everyday man at $300,000. Still not bad for essentially a true Bugatti. Even Jay Leno said that these Pur Sangs are probably even better than the originals because you can drive them very hard and they perform excellent!
@j-tuned19558 жыл бұрын
Joe pur sang just means pure blooded. I doubt Bugatti meant it in reference to the company.

the details on the cr doesn't deserved to be called "kit" or "replica" more like tribute.

@eugenefong171510 жыл бұрын
that is somewhat an insult to Pur Sang. But yes it is, a very expensive and accurate recreation. This is the God of Replicas.
@lordzevallos10 жыл бұрын
I feel "continuation car" might be the better term to associate Pur Sang with. Eugene Fong
@ElectricFederal10 жыл бұрын
Pur Sang started as a restorer of prewar gems. There are restorations in which 99% of components are fabricated by the shop because all that's left of the original is part of a chassis or even just an engine block. The logic Pur Sang had was to go ahead and finish up that 1%.
@RadRidesByCru3 жыл бұрын
If you want to be accurate... it's a kit car... It comes in pieces and you put it together (or they can put it together for you). Then it's titled as whatever your state deems most appropriate. Just like all those Porsches and Cobras Jon talked down about.

It's miles better than a fibreglass Cobra kit car. But in the end it's authenticity and originality that makes or breaks a car.
@Loafy2310 жыл бұрын
Do you have tens of millions of dollars to buy an original? Do you even have the slightest hope of ever even seeing an original? While I may not be a fan of this car it does look to be a very well done recreation. This isn't some VW bug stripped down with a fiberglass tub screwed to it, this is a lovingly recreated duplicate that embodies everything that is the original but at a price that is not cheap but still achievable by those with the means.

Wait, they make a replica of an Italian car and they use an English wheel? What the?! As far as my knowledge goes, and this is from a Dutch classic automobile restorer, is that the Italians always hammered their metal body panels while the English rolled them in the English wheel. Sure hammering is more time consuming, but it's the authentic way of replicating what once was. Besides the results are noticibly different to the keen eye, which is something car enthusiast have that are into these cars and this level of restored or replicated cars. So why the use of an English wheel in an Italian car?

You have to be pretentious. It's a freaking bugatti. The guys who are buying these are spending 250-400k on these things. A non-pretentious car guy would half ass it. When you pay that much money, the devil is in the details.
