most powders should be washed off every 1-2 days. Could only cause damage if you use too much, you can use shampoo AND conditioner. The shampoo will get rid of all the built up gunk like hair products and general scalp residue, and the conditioner will moisturise the scalp, and rekindle the hair fibres :)
