The town that I live in NJ, police dept. never contacted me. After getting finger printed I waited a whole month for an email/phone call. Decided to take a trip to the PD and they said they had my paperwork and mention they don't send email notifications to come in and pay for the fee. After paying, it took almost 4 months to get that ID card.

How did you know when to get your ID? Did they contact you or did you contact them and set that meeting up?

​@eyadfromthesky I received an email that I was approved. My FID was in a link which let me print it out and take it to the gun store.

The form has changed since this video, they allow you can use your family for a reference.

Thank you for that feedback. Gun laws in New Jersey are changing a lot and are fluid, which makes it even harder to remain in compliance. It is a problem we have here in New Jersey.

Yes, the FID can use family members as references. However, the PCH (CCW) requires four non-related references.

Greetings Daniel , I have legally owned firearms in New Jersey for over 20 years. I recently make application for another purchase permit. I have been waiting for the purchase permit since September when I applied .It's been over 60 days. I have been calling my local PD and they always say that the application is in the detective brutal and that they are only up to July with the applications , and to keep checking my email. I have purchased firearms in the past and it never took this long. My question is,is this because the number of firearm purchases have increased ? Thanks

I think you can use family members now, please temporarily take down this video, check the laws for accuracy and then repost with edits where applicable. Personally, and I think I speak for a lot of people out there. If you can find the time we would love an in-depth video on the process for receiving a handgun permit. Thank you

The town in NJ I live in wiil send police to neighbors and your place of employment if nearby just to inform them that you are appling for a firearm permit. Some amti gun employers will fire you for doing so.
