Totally a 90s film in the best way. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are gold in this. This is the first film where Keanu Reeves becomes more of a major action star and heartthrob. I'm from La so I remember when they were filming this off the 105 freeway great memories

I’m so jealous you got to see filming of this movie! I’m also from LA, but was born one year after the movie came out. I treat this movie almost like a time capsule of an LA that I wasn’t around for. I even bought myself a model of the bus from this movie c:

I love how this movie is basically all mundane stuff we hate doing made into an action movie. Taking an elevator, taking the bus, waiting at the airport, taking the train. We do those things all the time, just add some music, a few booms, and you got a movie

Watching this movie as a kid back in the 90's made me fell in love with Sandra. 🥰 Keanu and Dennis(RIP🙏🏼) became 1 of my fav actors and de Bont became 1 of my fav. directors next to Steven Spielberg. This movie was just awesome, I didn't mind it took longer than expected, it was 1 of those action popcorn movies you just didn't want to end, so thrilling and the cast was just perfect. Twister by the same director should be your next movie to react to! 🌪

YES!! Ome of my favorite Keanu Reeves action movies! Originally John McTiernan was going to direct the film, but was too busy working on Last Action Hero and DIE HARD 3, so Cinematographer turned director Jan De Bont was picked. De Bont was even considered for Directing a GODZILLA 1994 movie, but Sony cancelled the project due to budget concerns. De Bont would direct SPEED instead. Before Keanu Reeves was cast as the hero, Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kurt Russell, Wesley Snipes, Woody Harrelson, Jeff Bridges, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Richard Gere, Charlie Sheen, Tom Hanks, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, and Stephen Baldwin were considered. Before Sandra Bullock played Annie, Meryl Streep, Anne Heche, Halle Berry, and Ellen DeGeneres were considered for the role. Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro were considered for the villain. Joss Whedon, Buffy, Firefly, The Avengers, had rewritten th action scenes for the movie. 11 GM NEW LOOK Buses were used for the film, 2 of them were blown up, while one was used for the Interior scenes, one was used for the "under bus" shots ,and another one was used for the jump scene. The film was a box office and critical success, $350 million dollars against a $40 million dollar budget. It won 2 Oscar for Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

Fun Fact: The freeway this movie takes place on is Interstate 105, then still not yet completed. It's the newest freeway in Los Angeles. Being from there, I remember this being built at the time and have travelled it many times since. Among the casualties of its construction, the house where the Wilson brothers grew up and formed the Beach Boys in Hawthorne was demolished, though there is a historic monument where it once stood.

"Pop quiz, hotshot!" Inoffensive and fun action flick. 😎 👍 Fun Fact: The birds flying through the gap in the freeway were digitally added visual effects. What Script Fact: The bus jump scene was not in the original script. Director Jan de Bont came up with the idea one day when he was driving around Los Angeles and noticed one section of the 105 was missing. Budget Fix Fact: The film literally ran out of money before it was completed. When the film was first previewed for an audience, the subway scenes were animated storyboards. A producer realized they might have a hit movie on their hands when he noticed that, during test screenings, audience members would walk backwards when they needed to go to the bathroom, so they would miss as little as possible. The audience loved them so much, the studio came up with the funds to shoot the scenes properly. Power Couple Fact: Sandra Bullock actually learned to drive a bus for the film, passing her test on her first attempt. The scene in which Annie takes the chewing gum out of her mouth and pretends to put it on her seat in order to have an excuse to change seats and move away from the obnoxious Stephens (Alan Ruck) was improvised by Bullock. Keanu Reeves did approximately ninety percent of his own stunts. Reeves breaking the glass on the bus door in the beginning of the movie was an accident, however it was left in the final cut. Jan de Bont insisted that Keanu Reeves get a sensible haircut as would befit a hard-working cop. 20th Century Fox executives were horrified when they saw the buzzcut he adopted for the film, going so far as to threaten postponing the film so he could grow his hair back.

SUCH a fun movie! Loved it from when it was first released. Sandra Bullock is awesome in this, and so incredibly likeable. But, as a gay man, I was all about Keanu with the newly (at the time) short haircut. The father of this movie's screenwriter was the legendary Elwy Yost. He hosted different long-running programs in Ontario, most famously Saturday Night at the Movies. He was like Robert Osborne on TCM, decades before there was a TCM. Elwy Yost is the reason I fell in love with old movies when I was quite young. So it's no surprise Graham Yost wrote such a tight screenplay, he was raised by a man who had a lifelong passion for film, and shared it with countless people over many many years. ❤

They did really jump a bus for that scene. Some ramps you dont see and stuff, and everyone on board would have broken spines, but they did jump it. The nose going so high was a miscalculation from the bus having a rear rather than a centre placed motor making it a bit back heavy on the ramp

When the bus jumped the missing section of road, the way it suddenly lifted up was baloney. It would pass through the air in a parabolic course which would ultimately impact the ground. However, if the road had been at an ascending angle (45 degrees would have been ideal) and its speed had been sufficient, then it might arrive at the other side with its wheels higher than the street and would have been alright - physicist.

Now you know why in Jumanji: welcome to the jungle the guy who gets sucked into the game back in the 90s said “Alan built this place, I just live here.“ That was an incredibly touching tribute to not only Robin but to the original movie. Although I love the movies you mentioned, I think my two favorite non-kids movies for Robin Williams are What Dreams May Come and Final Cut. They are both extremely deep and as always Robin brings his A-Game to them all. And TBH, the monkeys never looked good. 🤣 But that is entirely forgivable because they were still fun. 💙💙💙

The bus jump was horribly shot if they wanted anyone to believe it. but it was otherwise a fun movie. The only problem being they failed to tell us of all the people Jack carelessly killed on the plane in his effort to save all the people on the bus. I mean shouldn't he have had the presence of mind not to leave the bus until it was pointed in a safe direction? And this is not to mention all the people he certainly must have known he'd have to kill in the subway to save Sandra Bullock a 2nd time. But as you say. Best not to think too hard about this one. @@CasualNerdReactions You should check it out anyway. There are a lot of people who really like that movie, myself included. It is, in fact on my top ten list for modern movies and it had an enormous amount of buzz when it came out. But since your Patreon voters didn't vote for it, if you do ignore them and react to it anyway, it it will likely also draw new Patreons to your channel, the kind with tastes even more in sync with your tastes than the Patreons you have now. And I say that with confidence because I am absolutely certain from what I have seen on your channel that you ae the perfect reactor to review this movie and that you will absolutely love it. Getting back to Jack, Yeah I know the plane was empty but did Jack really know that? It's doubtful. And I know the director wanted a big explosion. But c'mon if it was a true story there would be a lot of people very angry with him for gettting off the bus with no concern about what direction it was going when he abandoned it. @@CasualNerdReactions You watch a very eclectic mix of movies so I am not going to impugn your Patreon patrons who vote for them. I mentioned before it is on my top ten favorites list for modern movies, but it is also on my top ten all time list in another category (and one that I will not name so as to not spoil the movie). But don't take just my word. Here's what some of your competitors have said of it. "Promising Young Woman is he most underrated movie I have reviewed!" ReelOz "Another hidden gem!" ItsaPrimate "I don't think I am going to recover from this one." ZZAVID "This movie has been stuck in my head for days now. I keep finding more details in the subtext the more I think about it." Well, the movie couldn't have ended after the bus situation was resolved, because the plot wasn't, so you needed a strong finale. (In my opinion the actual finale wasn't as strong as it could've been, but tastes differ.) And the reason Keanu's lines came across as corny is that he's a pretty lousy actor and completely banks on his likeability. 😉
