What a fascinating fim! At what point did you piece it together?
@odinsahn7648 Жыл бұрын
Never pieced it together until it was revealed as a great film should be able to do. I saw this in theatres when I was in high school and it was a mind blowing whodunnit thriller. All the characters were great especially the late Ray Liotta. The setting, atmosphere and music were on point. Although I had seen Copland prior to this, this film is what put James Mangold on the map for me and makes sense why Logan is such a great film.

I have to admit, I'm one of those people nobody wants to see a movie with. I tend to figure out things too quickly because I'm actively looking for answers rather than just sitting back and enjoying what I'm watching. I have learned to keep my mouth shut, though. 😅 While watching the intro, and they were talking about multiple personality disorder, I have to admit, I immediately wondered about the many "people" in the situation. That did not lessen my enjoyment of the movie. And it was great fun watching you unravel the mystery. You made me chuckle when you discounted Timmy as the killer, because when he got his mom killed at the start, I pegged him as the killer. (I mean, what the heck is a little boy doing in this thing anyway, right?) 😆Plus, most trauma that causes DID occurs in childhood. You're a hoot to watch with. I've got to go back through your library. Have you watch Memento, or Johnny Mnemonic? Just an aside, my hubby doesn't like this movie, but he doesn't know why. 🤔 He thinks it might be the whole "dark and stormy night" setting, but he's not sure. He was still willing to watch you watch it, so that's a definite compliment to your reaction.

I cleverly pieced it together... uhm... at the reveal. 😁 I sure was groaning at the accumulation of so many unusual characters in the same place at the same time, but at that point I was so used to lazy scriptwriting that that's what I chalked it up to, and of course I was pleasantly surprised. Little did I know how stupid movies were gonna get in the tens and twenties.

Glad you enjoyed it. I remember seeing this in the theater and the constant rain on the surround sound really kept the mood of the picture going. It immediately reminded me of a great film you might enjoy called "And Then There Were None". It was first done in 1945 then remade a couple times the last was in the 60's and called "Ten Little Indians". The movies were adapted from an Agatha Christie novel of the original name. I think you would enjoy any of those film versions.

The biggest clue that Timmy was the killer was when Edward was being told about Malcolm in the scene with the doctor, its mentioned that "when induced with extreme trauma, a CHILDS mind can fracture." Also fun fact that there are Eleven identities in the film however Dr. Malick only has 10 case files because Timmy never showed himself to the dr.

What a unique hybrid of neo-noir and psychological thriller; it's like watching two separate movies fuse together seamlessly towards the end. Everyone's acting was superb. Ray Liotta had me torn between liking and distrusting him. I really enjoyed his character's plot twist. The back and forth close-up shots between John Cusack and Pruitt Taylor Vince was beautifully done. Alfred Molina was very convincing as the overly optimistic doctor who wanted to save his patient. I watched this movie after seeing Pruitt in Jacob's Ladder (which also has a mind-blowing twist in the end). He's one of the most underrated actors out there who deserves more leading roles. Thank you for the very enjoyable reaction. I was so pumped when I saw this movie in the line up; ngl, I was waiting for it last Thursday. 😅

The reveal didn't occur to me while watching ... the rug was pulled out from under me in the climax of the film. identity has the vibe of a thriller/slasher, and also a whodunit, and sometimes a psychological movie. We can try to figure it out but we don't really get it on our own (well, I'd be surprised if someone knew exactly what was going on and where things would go, just from watching the flick unfold before him/her). Very good reveal in the story. Plus, the whole "strangers converging at a remote motel during a wicked rain storm" was a super setting for this.

"As I was going up the stairs, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. I wish, I wish he'd go away." Fun Fact: Several endings were filmed to keep the real conclusion a secret. Bollywood Remake Fact: Khamoshh... Khauff Ki Raat (2005) is a critically panned remake. Final Bow Fact: This was Frederick Coffin's final acting role before his death on July 31, 2003, at the age of 60. Under The Weather Fact: According to James Mangold, when shooting the film in the studio and using a heavy rain backdrop, a water system was used to simulate the cold rain. As a result of working on such a water-drenched set for long hours, it wasn't uncommon for the cast to become afflicted with the common cold.

I LOVE THE ENTIRE CONCEPT OF THIS MOVIE!!! That the motel is just his mind, and each of the characters is a different part of his personality. Then the TWIST AT THE END WAS FUCKING CRAZY!?!?!? WHO THE HELL WOULD'VE FIGURED THE LITTLE KID WAS HIS MURDEROUS PERSONALITY?!?!?! I loved John Cusacks character though... That was the "good" in him, always trying to help someone, or figure a way to get them out... I LOVED TIMMY TOO!! He won the battle royale of personalities by STAYING IN THE BACKGROUND, so nobody noticed him... Just like you did!! He wasn't even on your list of suspects...

This movie reminded me of the Bad Times At The El Royale in so many ways (and so many ways it was different). I've owned this movie a long time (bought it cheap) but never watched it. I went ahead and watched it since you were reacting to it. I had no idea which one was the killer until Timmy went in to check on his mother and the next time someone checked on her she was dead. I liked the overall concept of the film but I'm conflicted on the ending. I like how Timmy showed himself but I don't like how Malcolm/Timmy wasn't executed and we now assume he kills both escorts and ends up free to kill more. I think I would have preferred that we see the van pull over and hear gun shots, assuming Timmy was just executed.

The problem with your reaction at the end is that I can tell you were definitely impressed with what you just saw but you were obviously still processing it and unable to really give the film the props that it deserves as a result. I don't blame you, this is one of those movies that really demands a second watch in order to get the full impact. The first time you're just soaking everything in the texture of the film but the second viewing is where the full meaning and implications of things really sinks in.

What I use love about this movie - separate from the story and suspense - is that the place she mentions, Polk County, that she wants to move to have citrus grove is the county I was born, raised, and will sadly probably die in. The theaters here went wild when it was mentioned. And yes, that is exactly what we're known for is our citrus groves. Now, not as proud of it as I use to be... it's become a right-wing Hxll hole. Now we're known for arresting R. Kelly, and Legoland Florida.
