mieko kawakami is my new favourite japanese author and i look forward to more works from her! she is such an excellent writer, especially how she depicts normal events we go through into something so beautiful. i haven't read all the lovers in the night yet, but so far heaven is my personal favourite. not many people talk about kawakami on their channel so appreciate your thoughts on her!

Wow we have such similar book tastes! I really loved Breasts and Eggs, it broke me in a similar way to The Idiot. Pure Colour is my favorite Sheila Heti, her others have similar musings on life, but I feel like Pure Colour is her masterpiece. Definitely need to read Leave Society now after you talked about their similarities! Also, if you want more Cronenberg I recommend eXistenZ, it’s my favorite of his and Crimes of the Future looks like it’s going to have some similar imagery/themes. Looking forward to more videos from you ✨

Oh wow! I definitely need to read Breast and Eggs next! Would it be weird to go backwards from Pure Colour? 😭 Ahh! I just watched eXistenZ the other day and I have to say, it's my fav Cronenberg so far!! And yes!! Super stoked for Crimes of the Future!

@@nathansnook I don’t think it’s weird to go backwards haha, they’re all really good, well I’ve only read Motherhood and How Should a Person Be. If you are an audiobook person, I do recommend them on audio because she narrates most of them herself which I always love!

@@cloudslikethis I'll definitely try to listen to an audiobook! Which of her books do you recommend I read next? :)
@cloudslikethis2 жыл бұрын
@@nathansnook How Should a Person Be is slightly more straightforward but I enjoyed Motherhood more (and it’s more about her not wanting to be a mother)
