The magic of Knopfler's guitar is that he can put a hundred different little riffs into the flow of the song, and each is so beautifully played and fit so smoothly and so perfectly

The studio version of this is one of the best songs for cruising. Including road tripping. It's nice that you enjoyed it so much. What I love about this clip is how much fun they're having. Making a living like that wouldn't suck.🤑🤑🤑🤑 Shout out to the production crew. The filmography of this LIVE concert is incredible.🤩🤩

I was at Hammersmith in 1983, when this was filmed and its still one of the top concerts I've seen. Mark Knopfler is top drawer, they're all world class, Hal Lindes on backing guitar, Alan Clark on Keys, with back up from Tommy Mandrel (dancing in the background) John Illsley on bass in the white suit. Terry Williams on the, on the drums stole it for me, absolutely the best live drummer I've seen, better than Phil Collins and just ahead of Chester Thompson. His drumming was mind blowing, its the bit I remembered, 39 years later! Peyemi, I knew you were going to love it when two bars in you had a huge smile on your face and they haven't started yet! You need to watch Telegraph Road from Alchemy as well, I think its better, judge for yourself ❤❤

Peyemi, I almost envy you for hearing Dire Straits for the first time. I got into the band long before you were born. In 1978, when I was 15, I used to frequent a record shop called _Kithaeron_ in my home town of St Albans, Hertfordshire, UK. Knowing how I was into rock, the proprietor invited me to don the headphones and listen to a track from a new band. The song was "Down to the Waterline", the first number on Dire Straits' first, eponymous album. I had never heard anything like it in my young life. I was more than happy to blow my paper-round (route) money on the Compact Cassette version of the album. Later that year, DS did a gig in St Albans Town Hall, and I made sure I was there. I have been hooked ever since. I have bought every DS album up to Love Over Gold on CC, then got them all on CD: now, of course, they are accessible through the cloud on my phone, tablet and laptop. My major passion is heavy metal, but that doesn't mean I ignore greats from other genres. And Dire Straits are greats.

Great reaction and it was obvious you were feeling it. Telegraph Road from the same concert is mind-blowingingly brilliant demonstrating the musical prowess of the whole band. For me it is the greatest song ever written and the performance of it at this concert is better than the studio version which is also brilliant. Thank you and warmest wishes from the UK. Take care.

Very likeable that you mention also the amazing keyboard work of Alan Clark. The extraordinary qualitiy of this performance include all band members, the bass playing of John Illsley, Hal Lindes on rhythm guitar and the second keyboard as well, unfortunately I don't know his name.

A great example of why history is safe in the hands of the young, like Peyemi, to repeat it and pass it on......history of ALL things mind you, not just music. I'm heartened by your enthusiasm Peyemi. As for this small segment of history, this is one of the greatest performances ever of one of the greatest songs ever by one of the greatest bands ever!!! I do fear that it will soon be banned in Florida.

Hello ! Just came across tfhis reaction video and liked it a lot. I just wanted to ask if you take requests from the comments and uf you would react to a special request that I have for you ? Have you ever heatd of Aurora ? he is a 26 year old singer / songwriter from Norway and I am sure she will captivate you within a few moments, like so many others, who reacted to her for the first time. Would you please take my special request and react to "Autora - Lucky (Live at Nidarosdomen)" ? She wrote this song at the age of 9 years and the lyrics are so deep and meaningful... it's considered her anti-suicide-song. It was filmed on November 2, 2017 in Nidarosdomen, the most important and oldest cathedral in Norway, situated in Trondheim, where every King and Queen of Norway has been crowned so far... it is also the most northern cathedral in the world. So it's a very special and also beautfiul place. I hope I caught your attention and raised your interest in reacting to my suggestion. Best wishes from Germany : Gerry
