Probably long wall of text, so TL;DR, You're doing good, don't feel pressured to keep doing Splatoon if you want to do variety more. You've had my attention and my trust that whatever it is next, it'll be good. Splatoon 3 was probably the best thing to jump-start your channel. Happened to be at the right place, right time, and YT didn't fail you. Likely I wouldn't have gotten interested in the channel if there wasn't a focus on Splatoon, unless there was some game I either played or was interested in trying that you made content on (likely Singleplayer). I do admit that there is an intrinsic connection to your channel and Splatoon, but its not inseverable. You just happen to be a funny person that managed to gain some market share on Splatoon 3 (You, GFromMD, and Sourbraix are my big 3 for Splatoon 3 content creators). I'd def give whatever variety you do a chance simply because I know it'll be quality based on your previous work. Also, I personally understand the blood, sweat and tears that goes into this stuff. And by understand, I mean that constant struggle to find something to make, put in the hours to make it, and then see all that hard work be for nothing, and then struggle to convince myself to do that cycle all over again thinking it will be different this time. The least I can do is humor a niche internet person who really wants to do content and has gotten through the door. I became very self-deprecating about my voice when I started to make content, thinking it's not good enough for people to hear me out and watch what I make, (and I know probably everyone says this about other people's voices) but your voice and personality is pretty good. I can listen to you talk and not feel annoyed by it and click off, especially when a large part of the video is the person speaking. I also feel disappointed but not surprised that Side Order received no additional updates, despite the marketing wanting people to constantly replay the rogue-based mode. Especially when it comes to more chip types to make gameplay more interesting. It's upsetting I can't change base slosh to function like any of its counterparts with varying properties. More bosses and enemies would've also been cool, and like obviously the lack of 4 being in the game in general is really fck up. I guess I could say it about the whole of S3, being not enough existing potential going to good use. Almost a guarantee I won't get Splatoon 4. I'm more of a PC gamer and we usually don't get every new generation of consoles. (Our first and only other "home" console bought was the Wii, excluding a passed-down PS3 that no longer exists.) Adding to that, the Switch has largely been regulated as just a Splatoon machine for me. And I kinda don't trust the people who are responsible for the overall state of Splatoon 3's development and life cycle to make S4 and learn the right lessons and not make the same mistakes that were born from S3 (which also didn't learn from some of S2's flaws and just generally not fixing glaring issues with stuff like matchmaking, balance, map design etc etc.) More personally though, the choice to start content creation with S3 soured my experience of the game. What started as something I could get enjoyment out of by both playing the game and then sharing that experience with others, just turned into "Why did I think this was a good idea?" I just can't get back those 2 years lost to... this. It sucks when it feels like both your hard work and general life does not matter, or more accurately, doesn't even exist. ...But I think that's enough out of me on something that isn't about me. Tl;dr I wish nothing but the best, of you. You have what it takes.

Don't apologize for long comments. Stuff like this is exactly what I love about reading what others have to think, as well as reassuring and amplifying my motivation to do other things. It's viewers like you that makes creating content and the future of this current passion so enjoyable. The section that specified the struggle of trying to find what kind of content I could make from S3 hits the nail SO hard on the head. While I agree with the sentiment of "S3 is the best game in the series," it's also easily the most frustrating from a potential standpoint due to so many issues that have literally been constantly repeated from so many other people (myself included) that going into detail about it is just tiring in it itself. That and I've been playing this one franchise for almost 10 years now and having my channel be kickstarted via S3 was super great for the short term, but personally fell off really hard. Side Order (as well as whatever will become of this format if it's repeated in S4) is the one thing I can consistently stomach from, so that's why I had the idea of just having some more lukewarm but chill videos about it like this (there's more that I've recorded). Outside of that though, I'm just... tired of Splatoon lmao But yeah, thank you so much for this response! Really hope to see you and other commenters/viewers/chatters/etc stick around. I am and will try my best.

I’m with them! It’s not the gameplay, it’s the personality and the passion you give to these videos. They’re the reason I keep watching because it’s just so dang entertaining! Just keep doing whatever you want and trust me, someone out there is gonna enjoy it!

Tbh there's only so much a person can do in Splatoon before things start to get repetitive. I'd love to see you play more games or make other types of content. You have a really chilled out vibe and I like to watch your videos after long work days. I'm in a creative industry, and having to be creative for long stretches of time can be really exhausting. Imo, just do what you want to do and go with the flow.

Background watcher here. Don't hesitate to branch out if you want to! To be perfectly honest I won't watch EVERY video if your games are not for my taste, but that has nothing to do with you as a person or the quality of your videos. As long as you keep yourself happy with your art, you will be doing good. That's all that matters. Fun fact: every time a YTber or streamer worries about branching out, I used to tell them to check out Mr Beast's very first vid (he was a Pokémon Showdown player), but since he's on hot waters now, here's a word of advice instead: Don't lose sight of your values for content, no matter how big or small you get. Wish you the best!

psychologically, they say using a lot of filler words ("um, like, yknow..") can be a sign that you're not used to being listened to and heard, or you've been spoken over a lot. or you otherwise feel the need to keep people listening to you and entertained with your words so they don't lose interest or interrupt you. this is one of the reasons the majority of women tend to use many filler words. alternately, though its more common to neurodivergent or fast-thinking people (like gamers and avant yappers), your brain simply has too many thoughts or too obscurely constructed thoughts to form coherent words right away when you need to speak in a rush (for example, keeping a youtube audience entertained) yes i did just psychoanalyze you

Now that Splatoon 3's finished it's 2 years, I'd say it's the perfect time to move on to greener pastures. I let my NSO sub expire the day after the Grand Fest ended, and haven't looked back.

if you want a chill game to yap about while playing, with rogue style gameplay, awesome ambiant music, and is kinda new so is still fresh in the mind of the viewers, may I suggest Balatro ? I'm barely playing splatoon anymore too, now most of my gaming time is taken by balatro, but my youtube time isn't filled with balatro content yet, and you could change that ! (I tried watching the popular balatro players, I don't really vibe with them, appart from Grayfruit's streams, those were fun, but he's not even a big balatro player I don't think he counts lol)

You don't have to burn yourself out with Splatoon content. If your audience really really likes it, you can upload one "challenge" or silly vid every once in a while without having to constantly play just one game. Even Prochara does other stuff when Splatoon feels stale to him. XD Then you branch out into other stuff and build a broader audience for more types of content. Veedotme primarily played Dead Cells for a very long time and then finally branched into Hades, Hades 2, Binding of Isaac and other stuff that were rogue style. I think you could even play chill games like Stardew Valley and you would have plenty of watchers just putting it on in the background.

@astrochicken82692 ай бұрын
Please don't feel pressured to continue making Splatoon content if you don't like it! There is nothing sadder than scrolling through a channel's upload feed and seeing them try a new idea for once, only for those videos to get x0.1 the usual views, followed by a return to the regular content, like "welp, that didn't work out..". Builing a new foundation for your channel is hard, but I assume there is no other way to do it than just try it until it works. And forcing yourself to continue playing the games you don't like will only lead to more frustration, burnout and increased hatred dircected to that game - something that's both unpleasant for you and your viewers, if they care about you as more than just a video upload machine. I went through a similar journey with minecraft, until I was literally spiting the moment I was going to turn on that game again for my daily session of playing. I kept telling myself "I'm fine. I'm having fun, look, isn't that fun?" but, no, if you are at a point where you have to convince yourself that you have fun, then you are not having it. Forcing yourself to enjoy something is simply paradoxical. And there was no greater rerlief for me than when I finally let go of that franchise and told myself "No, I don't have to pretend that I'm a minecraft youtuber and play this game every day just to feel like I belong somewhere". Being able to acknowledge that you both have had great moments and a lot of genuine fun with this game in the past, but that things have changed and you have moved on in the present, and that letting go of it now will not make those past moments any more valuable (and that you don't owe the game anything, but that might be a me thing) is the best realization about a game that burnt you out you can have. And, in my case, I could not be gladder that I did not jump on the bandwaggon of content creation with the next games I though about. What I actually wanted were just some people I could share my experinces with, but, I realized, content creation is something different. And making your hobby into an obligation has the potential to make you loathe it regardless of how much you used to love it before.
