PureAudioProject Duet15 [Sound Demo]

First attempt ever! This video is taken using a RODE mic. I was speaking behind the mic, hence, the echo and reflection. I reviewed the video and realised the sound quality doesn't reflect how the system sound like in real life. Anyhow, enjoy the sound demo!
I will invest in a better mic in the future!

Beautiful room and sound system. The speakers are doing well. My impression is this is a mono recording and that limits our understanding of the in room experience. I think just using your phone could give a sense of the stereo illusion which is a big part of your system but missing in this demo. Thanks again for sharing and keep up the great work.

Thanks Alvin for demoing those having the Quintet 10 and listening to your sound demo. does demonstrate the open baffle sound. You’re missing the decay in the attack of the music but that’s not gonna come through in KZbin even in well done HIFI sound demo music. Also, class D amplification pairs quite well with open baffle speakers.

The base is good, but I listened to the same track from Roon, on an old I Mac with USB out to a Schitt DAC and Schitt headphone amp using a pair of Sennheiser HD800 headphones. Thit method provided a much more musical presentation.

Open baffle speakers are quite difficult in the room, and recording them with good bass is extremely difficult. And full range drivers are very directional in the highs - they probably need to be pointed right at the mic?

Not familiar with that recording, but to me the bass sounds tight and full, vocals are smooth and pleasant, high end sounds somewhat muted and almost not there at all. Thank you for shairing.

I agree, smooth and tight but the highs do sound rolled off in the recording. Makes me wonder if the mic is too far forward.

You're absolutely right! The mic is not in ideal position. Spot on :)

Bass - agree but the subbass is missing. Mids, vocals are Ok. Hmmm, highs - I hear them differently, quite present and a bit sharp at times. But I think the direction is good. It would be good that you listen a bit with headphones and share what model(s) we use - listening thru a mediocre TV speaker or tablet speaker is not right, while with a popular headphone we may try for better feadback.

Thanks for sharing the video Alvin. I’m wondering if the woofers are too big for the room. The thumping overpowered the clarity of everything else to me. I’m hearing very little bass definition, I’m hearing mid bass however nothing in the lower bass region where it fades off into the distance, I think some call it extension. I’ve listened to a fair amount of sound demos. Hope this helps.

Not easy to evaluate from this recording but it seems off when the music is measier. The bass is tight but not deep and the treble do not expand. Not a speaker for me. Thanks anyway

Hi Alvin, you might find your phone mic does a more balanced sounding job for recording - try it (I used a Rode video stereo mic - only once)
