GOOD Stuff, Michelle. I added a second external battery to my Nanrobot D6+. Despite the weight mounted to the stem, which is stable and almost better, it increased torque by 20% but better, it extended my range by more than double. The two batteries are wired in parallel. Full charge is 58.2 and after 30 mile run, it reads 54.0 or "one bar" of energy. So much fun!

I think you guys should design a portable battery that can charge the scooter while you eat or rest somewhere!
@Huwtube72 Жыл бұрын
Nice idea but sadly not practical, as the power bank would have to be huge to put anything meaningful back into the scooter. It would be very heavy and you would need a rucksack just to carry it with you. So not worth it. What would revolutionise eScooting would be a rapid charging battery that would take minutes to charge instead of 5 hrs, then you could just carry a lightweight charger with you and recharge your eScooter during that lunch stop.

Great tips - my battery and scooter are only A couple of weeks old, so this was very timely. I’ve been putting the scooter on the charger as soon as I arrived home - so the battery is definitely well used as my rides are typically about 20 miles - a couple of hours as I usually run Gear 1 for more than half and switch to Gear 2 for the more significant uphill climbs coming home. I’ll start waiting a bit before plugging in.

Good video. Regarding charge level during storage, your advice is in line with the manual that came with my Hybike / Bosch mid-drive equipped mountain bike... Charge to about 60% for long term storage and yeah, check the level once a month. Also, my always plugged in MSI Gaming Laptop keeps the battery at around 50 to 60% so that's more confirmation of your advice.
@grablife2 жыл бұрын
No need to overthink it. All decent e-scooters will have a battery management controller to prevent depleting the battery or overcharging. In general, it's not good to drain lithium batteries to zero but the scooter should not allow that unless you leave it idle for months. It's also not ideal to keep your batteries topped off at full capacity. Lithium batteries last longest at 50% charge. If you're not using the scooter, don't leave the charger plugged in. Also, trickle charging is a waste of time. Once your scooter says it's charged, you're good to go. Squeezing that last 1% is not worth the time unless you have OCD.
@gonzocrunch83562 жыл бұрын
Actually the battery in our phones are very similar to those in our scooters. The ones in our phones are lithium polymer batteries. The polymer lets you form the battery in different shapes, so it can fin in this slim piece of tech. In the scooters are lithium ion batteries. These are cheaper than polymer but offer a very similar experience to the polymer. They are only in a cillindrical shape but the size and thikness cam vary from one to the other model. The most famous of these types is the 18650 Li-ion battery. The charging habit should be the same with both, meaning it is best to stay between 20-80% charge and it doesn't like the cold so if under ~5°C you should store it inside.
@vicoycoytv6516 Жыл бұрын
indeed your correct 80% is the lit hello my escooter has 5 bars so how many bars is equivalent to 80%
@kevin-hp7vg5 ай бұрын
Yes it's a similar technology, except that the phone batteries are high density batteries intended to charge up to 4.35-4.45v depending on the battery (now they are 4.45v the vast majority), the 18650 batteries of scooters are basic density lithium and charge at 4.2v

I play the 80/20 rule. I try to keep it charged UNDER 100 percent when not riding it - I never let it fall below 20 percent. Lithium batteries are like rubber bands. If you keep it stretched for a long period of time, it will eventually weaken or break. If you leave it under charged for a long time, the battery will lose energy and weaken. If I charge it fully, I ride it immediately, to decrease the battery strain. I charge in my home, where it's regular temp. I usually have a window open or my fan running. Never charge immediately after riding, LET it cool. I do this with my Jackery and westinghouse generators that use the same type of batteries. Generally, try to keep it above 20, and below or around 80.

Good video but the bit about keeping the charge above 50% and then in the next breathe saying to fully discharge every 5/10 charge cycles doesn't make sense to me. Other people have asked the same question but I am afraid I don't fully understand your reply. You suggest for optimum battery life keep it above 50% charge. And for maximum longevity fully discharge and recharge every 5/10 cycles. Is optimum battery life not exactly the same as maximum longevity? Could you explain the difference please? I note that one is more longer journeys with more battery usage but it isn't clear at all. An explanation rather than just reciting text from the presentation would be helpful. BTW all your videos are great, but this charge/discharge fully thing is doing my head in

Had to stop the video at to VERY point. I just got a gen 2 Ninebot Max. Most reviews seem to mention the 1st gen scooter dialing back power at the 50% capacity in the battery. Haven’t had much time before the snow fall to see any performance drop below that halfway mark of this is the same with gen 2. I feel this might be a factor involved with a specific fail safe in a certain model a brand brings to market that conflicts making the most out of that full change when using your scooter.

The "fully discharge tip" is a holdover myth from the ni-cad battery tech days. Lithium batteries should never be discharged completely. Doing so may destroy the cells. That's why the battery management system will tell you the battery is drained while still maintaining a safe charge level. Lithium cells are happiest at 50%. That's why mobile phones ship with 50% charge and not 100%.

To be fair I love the air3 pro but it only lasted 9 months, they struggle with hill climb but are able, not excellent like it claims, but they are one of the only scooters that actually are able to handle British rain. Mine may not of lasted but it didn't stop me from getting another one, I'm keeping the old one and fixing at a later date for a back up. They really are imo the best out there within the same category, smooth and easy all round, if I were to change anything, it would be to add suspension, as the rides can get quite bumpy, overall I'd give this a 4star, for 5, would need to bit better on the wire finishes, as in, some of the rubber isn't touching so water will eventually get in, hill climb to be a bit more power, as it struggles on 16% hilclimb claims wheight up to 120kilo I'm 49 kilos, when terrain is smooth, and suspension as some cycle tracks are bumby and can leave your wrists and knees with a vibration feeling after. I've got 8 scooters, ranging from chaos 1600,, chaos freestyle 2800, and 1 pure air3 pro, 1 air3 pro+ and a couple of segways, the air3 pro's are by far the most reliable and don't need as much maintenance as the faster ones, and even though the others claim water protection of some kind, they are not, pure are able to handle the rain.

I’m confused someone commented only charge 80% My Segway Ninebot F30S is new it’s been well over another hour since my display said full charged….the brick is still in red. So do I wait to see if brick charger will go green….or 80% like my Apple phone …..not maxing the charges for longer life….I’m just confused 🤔 Update finally almost 2 hours later the charger turned green…that was a lot more of an additional charge than the scooter display stated….WOW.

How can I remove speed limiter on the pure scooter?
@l750z_62 жыл бұрын
You can’t. All scooters have a speed limit lmao

@@l750z_6 no shit but alot of scooters u can remove the limiter on
@thesecret11124 күн бұрын
Ommit tip no. 6 because some chargers will not indicate correctly the full charge. Use an app to display the full charge. Remember Bluetooth, Flashlight and Tail light also discharges.

I've owned escooters for 3 yrs now and never did tip #4. But it seems a good idea and I will try to let mine cool down for 15 min before recharging

@@RidePureElectric Amazingly, I've owned my Zero 8 since April 2019 and currently have 900 miles on it. And the battery is even stronger now than when I first rode it. I weigh 185 lbs and it goes 25 mph on fresh battery and flat terrain. The range is still the same

Just got my Air Pro so very helpful tips! I have noticed the battery performance is down about half of what it was in this very hot weather. I got a very annoying flashing E800 on the display when switched on!

Also noticed this today on mine. Does this mean the battery is on it's way out?

@@cutefacejay6703 I was told by Pure that the E800 code sometimes causes a battery issue!
