Rare that a player is so great on offense and also puts in the same effort on defense one of the many reasons he is the goat, Glad you made these videos

Fact of the matter is that Jordan’s defensive mechanics were elite on its own, but his reflexes and timing were just out of this world. Very active hands very good timing. And greatest of all he had amazing court awareness, he knew when to leave his man and fully commit and slap the ball away from someone else. Or even just times when someone could come down with a rebound or do a turn around he knew just where to swipe

Even playing defence, MJ is still "attacking" the opponents.

He was great fighting through screens. Today not many players like to fight through screens they just die in screens and they switch.

A very attacking defender, but a lot of those active hands and chances he took could lead to easy buckets for the other team also. But that was his style and it suited the bulls. If you wanted some to ‘make a play’ on defence MJ was the guy, should show some of the full court pressing the bulls did, like high school ball!

Important question , if you meet someone that has some of MJs features in defense like cutting you off and being really active with their hands, how do you counter it and what is the rigth way in figuring out the weaknesses of a defensive player or at least what I could take advantage of? ( Please don't say "as you play more you will figured out how to do that". I've been playing ball for 2 years and I know technique and observation is crucial to really set yourself apart from the good players to an amazing player. Thank you!)

Michael Jordan has 2,514 career steals (3rd all time) in 1,072 games with an average of 2.35 steals per game. Pippen has 2, 307 career steals averaging 1.96 steals per game and has played 1,178 games....Mike was far Superior on ball defense. Those who say Scottie was a better defender are only trying to take jabs at Mike but the stats and the game play tell the true story!

Great video Drew. I have an important question. I have been working everyday consistently two workouts for two hours and a strength workout in the evening. Ive seen great results, but about once a week I have a day where I feel low on energy or a little "weak" and I have a bad workout. I feel like if I eliminate these bad workouts and stay consistent I could improve a lot more. Do you recommend anything for this? Thank you.

PRECISELY THE REASON MIKE'S THE GOAT: WATCH THE DEFENSE HE'S PLAYING (AND THAT WAS PLAYED AGAINST HIM). YOU CAN'T DEFEND LIKE THAT NOW - YOU'D FOUL OUT IN THE FIRST QUARTER. IF LEBRON HAD TO FACE THAT KIND OF DEFENSE - NOT SAYING THAT HE WOULDN'T HAVE THRIVED BACK THEN - BUT YOU JUST CAN'T COMPARE THE ERAS IN TERMS OF WHAT WAS ALLOWED DEFENSIVELY. FOR ME ANY COMPARISON BTWN LEBRON & MICHEAL WILL ALWAYS HAVE ASTERISK.

These are 90% uncalled blocking fouls. He was constantly in foul trouble taking these risks until Phil Jackson started moving him to less aggressive offensive players. His on ball defense was actually mediocre. His off ball defense, especially against big men, was better. But, these clips show jzst how poor his defensive discipline and fundamentals were.

Mike was great on both ends but in this video the dudes he was guarding had absolutely no moves they were very basic in their skill set granted they were pro players but with the exception of a young grant hill most of players showed in this were very inferior offensively most cases 5x...pipped did the heavy lifting on defense more so then mike! Against real offensive players with real individual offensive skills gave Jordan many buckets!! Penny hardaway, Mitch Richmond, Chris Jackson aka Mahmoud Abdul rauf, rod Strickland, Dominique Wilkins, Allen iverson, to name a few mike couldn’t do anything with!!!
@jasonturner6459
@jasonturner6459 4 жыл бұрын
Elite offense Will beat elite defense in the long run. This idea that Pippen always was better than Jordan or always took the best player is false. They usually alternated. Jordan was one of the best perimeter defenders ever. Those players you mentioned were elite scorers. You won't stop them totally, you just try to make them work.

Mike did his thing with those players as well but you fail to realize, Mike also has to put great amounts of energy on offense. He had to fight around picks, keep moving, and oftentimes box out to get the ball. That is what people don't get. No one is gonna play that way on every play and then play insanely on offense.

😂😂😂😂😂 really? "but with the exception of a young grant hill most of players showed in this were very inferior offensively most cases 5x"... here is a list of the TEN (yes 10) HALL OF FAME players in this video: Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Isaiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Vlade Divac and Grant Hill. Plus add Ron Harper, Mark Jackson and Danny Ainge. Yes... surely a lot of players gave MJ trouble, but what did they do against him when it counted... in the playoffs or finals? Penny Hardaway? 1996 ECF 21 times he matched vs MJ in 4 games: 1 point, 2 assists, 2 turnovers (2 direct steals from MJ), 0/5 FG 😂😂😂😂 Rod Strickland??? 1997 1st Round. Games 1 & 2. He got buckets alright. He had ONE good quarter in Game 1 and then got shut down 😂😂😂😂 Abdul Rauf, Wilkins or AI were not going both sides of the court against MJ. The only player from your list that went head to head against MJ on both sides of the court was another Hall of Famer Mitch Richmond and that guy was a beast!! They both respected eachother a lot.
