As an electrical engineer, I can confirm that there is no “best” or “perfect” - only a series of well-executed compromises. For example, I could crank up the amount of negative feedback to get you better distortion measurements, but in the time-domain I am introducing time smearing effects. Signals don’t move from A to B instantaneously. The propagation delays of taking a signal from the output, sending it back to the input for comparison is working off the textbook assumption of immediacy to keep the math and models simple. In reality, feedback is comparing a new signal at the input with an ever so slightly older and distorted signal at the output. The art of the compromise here is to balance the nastiness of frequency distortion with the undesirableness of so-called time smearing. Each circuit topography and set of components has its limitations. Nothing is perfect. The wise designer understands that even with an unlimited budget, the Universe (physics, materials science, thermodynamics, etc) is the ultimate master that humbles and constrains.

I love my Purifi monoblocks. NAD modifies the modules. I use the real unmodified Purifi modules as Bruno intended with the factory Hypex NC500 input buffer. What the Purifi does makes my jaw drop everyday. The detail on the macro level is stunning.

I've got a Buckeye 2-channel Purifi 1ET400A power amp that I like very much. It's very clean, quiet, and powerful.

Been a fan of the Purifi transducer. Obviously comes in many iterations. The higher end transducers are expensive. You get what you pay for! The transducers are usually the cheapest component in a cabinet. Internals make up a portion of cost if they are quality. So now we have the cabinet build. Bracing, dampening, thickness of mdf or hdf…internal dampening paint like borosilicate. Real wood veneer and so on. The Purifi woofer is exactly what you say it is. Incredible! Take the Totem Forest. Incredible cabinet with the very best internals. 5000.00 Canadian a pair. What driver do you think they use? The Hi Vi D6.8. Great speaker for sure. But if only they would incorporate that Purifi in that build. Thanks for another great review.

Audio shrink, do you ever feel the urge to relapse on selling buying , etc…?, and how deal with it if ever felt. Great content, keep it coming.

oh man do I ever but not to change the system just the compulsive action of buying.Wanting to buy to make myself feel good.It never works.The high is gone very quickly then rinse and repeat.I just say to myself “why am I really doing this” the answer is clear because I do not like the way I feel inside so a material escape becomes an option and its a huge victory to not give in to insane thinking because in reality I can buy big without consequence.I am here to help the suffering and your question was one of the best! keep em comin🙏

I have booked a demo for the new Danish speaker Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2. Its a bookshelf speaker with a Purifi driver and 2 passive Purifi drivers and an amt tweeter.
@greatlookinglandscapАй бұрын
they look nice but if your room is large go big driver! more effortless and realistic.Small speaker can only do so much
@justasimplefoxАй бұрын
I agree but the advantage of a closed design with 2 Purifi drivers (1 active + 2 passive) is the very, very controlled, fast and tight bass. It simply never gets ´wooly´...but I have added a quality subwoofer anyway to fill in the lowest octaves (crossover point around 40hz) Good luck with the Clarity 👍🏻 (make sure to burn in these drivers, they need it!)

@@justasimplefoxindeed.I still say big speakers😊I have the 6.5 purifis in action here but still no match for effortless bass and speed of the spatial in my room.I will say the it is an incredible driver very powerful sounding and big sounding and fast also.The issue even with dsp and room correction they seem like a bass dominant tune presentation which isnt my favorite I need more balance again the Spatial provides all of that but thats 4 15 inch drivers
@justasimplefoxАй бұрын
@@greatlookinglandscap I understand and never heard a Spatial 😊 (not many dealers in Europe). I think it depends a little from the design because my speakers are definitely not bass dominant.

I believe its the basis of my Lyngdorf tdai3400 amp/dsp unit and once I realised you really have to do a lot of setup with this unit I finally got a sound that was musical in a very difficult room but also for the first time in my grown up hifi life I am not using a NAIM amp not that current NAIM are of the same ilk as Julian Verekers. I changed because the sound was much more detailed while stating relaxed and still fairly lively and musical although my old NAIM Superuniti had more raw grunt. I highly recommend auditioning amps with purifi technology with the caveat that with the Lyngdorf using the room correction and other dsp settings is a must and not an option

Purifi has been on my radar screen for awhile and they appear to be leading edge on Class D power modules and high excursion woofers with very low distortion. But there are a lot interesting trends in audio. Class D has gone from a joke to something to only power subs to now being a legit consideration to power your entire system. There is also a discussion in the market place about what speakers should be and do. Should they be fully active? I suspect audiophiles will fall into 2 groups: one that likes to mix and match equipment (traditional audiophile) and the other that just wants to listen to the music and has minimal interest in changing equipment. But this question of integration is not limited to speakers. There are streaming DAC preamps, streaming amps, etc. Be interesting to see where it all ends up, but I suspect stand alone components will occupy an increasingly smaller (and more expensive) niche. But there is another issue emerging that few want to confront. Are we getting to the point in electronics where equipment is still being made technically better, but not audibly better because you are already beyond what we can hear? And then there is the related question: even if there are audible differences, how good does your system have to be to have any chance of actually hearing the differences??? And to add the cherry on top: the people who can afford hi-end systems tend to be older and we know your hearing gets worse with age. So maybe the difference would be audible if you were 25, but not at 50 or 60. And for reviewers, are the differences real or imagined? You rarely see a reviewer do a blind comparison of equipment. I think some interesting questions will come to the forefront in the coming years. If most equipment is not below the threshold of human hearing now, it likely will be in the future.
@greatlookinglandscapАй бұрын
great comment! yes I just feel after coming from years if swapping and trying that the vel canto engages me just as the best systems I have compiled over years.I didnt think it was possible.
@ccdccd8615Ай бұрын
@@greatlookinglandscap The danger of reading reviews and mixing and matching is that you can easily lose sight of the objective: a musically satisfying system. Instead you can get caught in the trap of changing equipment because the new piece is “better” even if your present equipment does not present any issues you feel the need to address. At some point, all of us get off the merry go round. I mentioned that I was having an OB speaker built, but never mentioned the electronics. I plan to mostly stream music. The core system will be a Roon Nucleus feeding into a MiniDSP SHD (which is Roon ready, preamp/DAC/electronic crossover/Dirac room correction) into 2 Schitt Audio Gjallahorn amps (each bridged for 30 watts per channel) for the tweeter/midrange, and an old big Class AB amp I have on hand. That amp may be replaced in the future with something like the Topping B200 mono blocks or gan fet Class D amp. Also, in the future, I might consider replacing the Schitt amps with a tube amp that is around 20 watts per channel. This setup would be considered mid-fi at best, but it doesn’t matter if it meets my needs and makes me happy. (Also, I suspect the difference between this and a “high end” system will not be that great. I believe this is probably the case because each component was selected for my particular speakers and my specific objectives). And I’m not going to go out changing anything unless I perceive deficiencies in my system AND figure out the best way to address them. I have my baseline system. ANY candidate for my system has to serve a need that the existing equipment does not meet AND it has to be placed in my system and show me that it is a material improvement on what is there IN MY ROOM. Otherwise, I intend to sit back and enjoy my music

I currently have purifi amps love it.... but I recently obtained my first tube amp(Rogue audio CM3) and it's just something else... I am now a Tube believer... the tube power(current capabilities ) and sound staging is on another level ... only downside to the tubes is that the bass o/p is not the best.... u definitely need subs... but if you already have dual subs, the tubes are a no Brainer imho
