A good counter to Protestant work ethic talking points is David Graeber's book "Bullshit Jobs: A Theory", which I SERIOUSLY can't recommend enough. It absolutely destroys the concept of trying to justify your existence via hard work by pointing out jobs that are completely unnecessary and pointless, yet because we money to survive we have to go through this stressful ritual of pretending what they do is necessary.

You speak so comprehensive and clearly of the problems faced in this dark age of capitalistic slavery. It is unfortunate that so many people are conditioned to blindly serve this evil whilst the hour grows late. In Capitalism there is no future.

Capitalism itself isnt bad, its just bad if we allow it to become a monopoly which we have become.

Finally. I've been thinking about this for years and see no one talking about it. My goal is to make as much money as possible doing as little work as possible dealing with as few people as possible - not to be rich, but to be financially independent working less hours and free from wage slavery. "Sanctity of suffering" indeed. It's why you get these thought leaders like Jordan Peterson saying the purpose of life isn't to be happy. Like, what? I don't know about you, but happy people are a lot nicer to be around, and typically have more empathy and openness than those who choose misery and suffering just to feel virtuous. I also have decided to not get married but to be partnered up with the man I love, living close to him but not together, as this is easier, more fun, we spend quality time together, etc. Like, why make our lives *harder*, letting our convos devolve to trash and dishes and vacuuming? People do the same thing about relationships and marriage - they add this moralizing element to it, as though folks like me who technically want to stay single forever are childish. Um, no. I just want to be happy and live a life on my terms, not the terms of antiquated religion.

Lol yeah right. That sellout.

Sowell is a Neoliberal idiot who needs to look at some living-standards graphs from the past 40 years (since Reagan/Friedman took over)

Luther wasn’t a Puritan. You didn’t mention a single Puritan. Puritans believed in obligatory sabbath rest. Also that Greed is a sin. Your anger toward Christianity is misguided.
