I know this is a rather dated series, but I thank you Fir the Sloth Series. I use it for a reference nearly every step through my sock process since I am not a natural knitter, but a forced knitter. Thank you for the time and care that you took way back six years ago.

Watched this video just today while knitting socks for my grandson’s birthday. I, too, hate gusset holes and tried your trick of knitting into the back of that bar pick-up. Wow. Now I want to hug you and your cows and cute goats and the dog and ...

I may be late to the party but I just wanted to make a public comment on how wonderful this entire series on knitting socks has been! I have been knitting 55 years and have made oodles of pairs of socks but always had a hole in the gusset which I had to go back and "fix". I have learned so much from your videos and now my socks are flawless! Thank you on sharing your farm and your skills. I truly appreciate it!

Im so jealous that you have goats. My family had them when I was a kid (haha) and I want them again once we have more property :) Thanks again for walking (I did it again lol) us through this sock knitting thing. When I followed your heel flap tutorial, I discovered that the original pattern directions caused the reinforced heel turn to be off-centre. So, I frogged back to the end of the heel flap and followed your "2 stitches past the centre" rule for the beginning of the turn and adjusted the numbers to work for all subsequent rows. It worked out perfectly centred!! Thank you for your clear instructions. I will remember that tip for my future sock knitting.

Hello! I’m a confident beginner when it comes to knitting, but I’m confused with how the numbers would work out utilizing the original pattern. Any tips with that would be greatly appreciated

Greatly appreciate your sock videos. Although I’ve been knitting socks for years, I’m self taught and have only followed the same few sock patterns. Your videos are teaching me a lot that patterns don’t offer. I love when you say “you are the boss of your knitting”. That comment was very enlightening for me and now I’m not afraid to make changes that have improved how my socks come out. My socks are turning out so much better, now. Thank you for your time and sharing 💕

I am so glad I found your videos. I actually understand more about sock knitting. I am still the heel and going to fo contrasting color. I am doing my sock on 9 inch circulars. Is it possible to pick up all those stitches and finish the heel?? I live using the 9 inch as it is not do hard on my hands. I do question getting the heel done Your videos are wonderful and very easy to understand.
@PurlTogether6 жыл бұрын
I think you may need to switch to a longer circular needle or dpns, just for the heel section, since I don't think all those stitches will fit on a 9" circ. Glad you're enjoying the videos!
@allycochran84876 жыл бұрын
First of all, thank you so much for your videos. I’m a visual person and these have helped me tremendously. Second, would it be ok to continue the heel reinforcement all the way along the bottom of the foot? Is that something that would be beneficial for the sock wearer? Also could it mess up the rest of the pattern at all?
@PurlTogether6 жыл бұрын
You can totally continue the reinforcement along the bottom of the heel. I regularly do that. Just be sure that you alternate rows between the slip stitch and then knit a plain row. Since you're only knitting the Hermione chart pattern on the top of the foot, it won't mess anything up. I usually stop the heel reinforcement after I finish with the gusset decreases.

Why was it when you did the slip, slip, knit, did you knit normal right to left? In you’re toe up socks you did the sky but did the knit awkwardly left to right? Just wondering! 😉👍

@PurlTogether5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you alternate the slip stitch reinforcement with a plain row
@sallykazoo61213 жыл бұрын
When I picked up the chain stitches and closed the gaps, I don’t have the same number of stitches on the sides of the heel. When and how do I resolve this? I have an additional 2 stitches on one side. 🤦♀️
@PurlTogether3 жыл бұрын
Just decrease them away. Knit a couple of extra decrease rounds (alternating with plain rounds as before) and just only decrease on the side that needs it. Hope that makes sense.

Jana, is there a pattern for the Hermione's Everyday Socks with the changes you made in your video? I have a copy of the Hermione's Everyday Socks pattern that I used when I did your video but I don't think it has your changes. I want to print out the pattern with your changes so I can make another pair of socks. Thanks!

Are you referring to the slip stitch heel reinforcement specifically? Or the way I make the toe? Or both? Are you a member of our Facebook group?

I was referring to both so that I could just look at the pattern and follow it for the whole sock. Yes, I am a member of the Facebook group.
