I was so stressed knitting sock heels I almost gave up until I found your video. I can now knit an entire sock on a single 9” circular with no problem! You’re a wonderful teacher! Thanks for the video!!!

I knit continentally so I hold the yarn in my left hand. I usually run the working yarn over my left index finger, under my middle and ring fingers, and then over my pinky. I try to keep my index finger generally close to the needle rather than holding it out like other continental knitter’s sometimes do. It’s not as tiring to me and it also helps me keep a more even tension.

Check out vids for the Fleegle heel , the gusset comes nicer in my opinion when you use "mirrored" increases and the same with the heel turn, having them mirror each other.

@@NYKnitter I agree. This is based on the Fleegle heel.If you read my reply above to the other question regarding increases, I explained that this video was done for my beginner class and some students have difficulty with the M1R increase, so to keep it simple I opted to let them use just the M1L. I definitely encourage them to practice doing mirrored increases for their future socks.

Great technique I've never seen before (even if it was a little frustrating to watch)

What the name of that heel? Also, left leaning increases and right leaning increase...how would that look instead of just right leaning increases???
@merful Жыл бұрын
This is the Fleegle heel, which is available on Ravelry. You can absolutely use mirrored left and right increases. I am using a M1L increase mainly because I made this video for my beginning sock knitting class and some students have trouble with the M1R increase. When the sock is being worn, the increases are on either side of your foot and aesthetically don't make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things, but I totally get that the more correct way would be to to mirror the increases.

Do you have written instructions for this?
@merful Жыл бұрын
I am currently working on combining my patterns that I have written for my sock classes, which will include several weights of yarn, and eventually publishing it on Ravelry. If you are asking about just the heel and gusset instructions that I am showing here...this is the Fleegle heel, and there are several patterns written using it on Ravelry. This is the one I based it on if that helps... fleeglesblog.blogspot.com/2006/11/leegles-toe-up-no-flap-no-hassle-sock.html
