I wish I would have known this with my first. 3 hours of pushing as hard as I could and pelvic floor trauma resulting from it. I hope as many momma’s as possible see this video.

I delivered my baby naturally and pushed for only 25 minutes in a side lying position (it was what was most comfortable for me) a week ago thanks to your videos. No tears and feeling like myself! She is my first child and she is preemie born at 34 weeks but she is so strong! Everyone is so surprised by her abilities at her age. Even though she wasn’t full term and little, I don’t think I could’ve delivered her so quickly without your tips! Thank you!!

Side pushing can you describe how
@alicealice084 ай бұрын
@@DilaraBegum-vh6rg Sure! I was just laying on my left side and had my right leg bent and elevated. I remember they asked me if I wanted to rest it on the stir up and that was super helpful because I was getting tired from holding up my legs like a clam shell. I also asked for the nurses to shove a pillow behind my back so I wouldn’t fall flat on my back.

I just can't wrap my head around why information like this isn't the norm for birthing. I feel like I'm going to become a nuisance patient just because I want to follow my body's lead. This makes me feel so stressed about birth :( Like how has "hours of pushing" become a thing ?!

I’m due my 4th at the end of September.. my first ever planned free birth/home birth after 3 traumatic hospital births. I’m so scared about it thinking I’ll be in so much pain I won’t cope without intervention but your videos keep me confident in knowing animals can do it, so can we! You keep me feeling strong ❤

I had on my birth plan for intuitive breathing/pushing. My certified nurse midwife saw it and said it all seemed good. In the moment she had me purple push. I had been vocal about unorthodox positions and was given some push back. I was also so over it by that point that I didn’t say anything about the breathing/pushing. I even heard someone in the room say “don’t make noises”. I know this isn’t trauma some experience, but it’s the part I most wish I could change. I also tore and we can all guess a big reason why.

I told the OB that I was nauseous and needed more time, they left and 30 min later the FER kicked in and I pushed for less than 45 minutes ❤️🔥 your course was so so sooooo integral to my VBAC

I feel like doctors want to bring baby out on their schedule and as fast as possible. I’ve given birth 5 times. Each time the Doctor get everything they want. They have induced me, check my cervix several times, broke my water and purple pushed when they felt it was time to. This time around (baby #6) I want to be in control. No petocin. No breaking water. No cervix checking and no purple pushing. I’ve been treated so badly, over the years like “you’re not even trying” comments and “do you even need pain medication?” or “don’t push until doctor comes in” This time. I’m READY for them. 🥹❤

This is so helpful and great! I do know somebody who just gave birth, on her back and got a epidural 8 cm dilated and her body was able to go into fetal ejection reflex and she didn’t have to push her baby out at all! Our bodies are so cool!

Purple pushing is totally what happened with my last birth. My mom was there for it and that is exactly how she described how I looked. I remember thinking “oh ok Dr wants me to push??” I was not ready for the mental game of pushing and was not sure I could do it in the moment. Also ended up with a prolapsed bladder after for the first time. Did not know it was a result of the purple pushing. Good to know.

I popped a ton of blood vessels in my eyes and even blacked out from the coached pushing. When I stopped listening to the nurses and tuned into my body, my baby boy came out QUICK!

I’m due any day now, 39 weeks and two days planning to do a spontaneous and unmedicated labor/birth. I’m currently almost 3cm dilated and 70% effaced at a -2 station. Needed to hear this to know what to do!! Having a feeling it’ll be soon
@HelloKittyFreak962 ай бұрын
This definitely happened to me, they told me I was 10 cm already and told me to push but my body didn’t feel like pushing for some reason I simply didn’t feel the urge. 2 hours later purple pushing and all I was exhausted and practically passing out during contractions and waking the second I felt the pain. Finally my body felt like pushing and it was a strong urge the doctor told me to stop but I told him I feel like I have too push and the baby was out about 3 mins later.

Wow, with my first baby I was induced at 37 weeks due to mild preeclampsia. I went in to the hospital on a Friday night, experienced painful pitocin contractions and uncomfortable interventions over the next TWO DAYS, and finally gave birth on Monday morning, after purple pushing for 4 freaking hours!!! By that time I was kinda out of my mind and had no sense of time anymore anyway, after not seeing the sun for ~60 hours. Wtf, never again

Dang. You were not ready at all. I’m sorry. I’m sad for you. 😞 But now baby is here now. 😍 And it will get better next time. Don’t let them scare you next time. It happens so much.

What's interesting is that, in my state, women must be transferred to a hospital from a home birth if they've been pushing for three hours. However, there is no differentiation in the law as to coached versus physiologic pushing. This leads a lot of women who've been coached into a lot of unnecessary interventions...
@kitea0074 ай бұрын
Seriously? What state are you in? I'm in Michigan and pushed 4 hours with my son who was a homebirth. Needed an episiotomy to get him out . I'm lucky I didn't end up transferring but hope my birth with my second due in a month goes smoother 😢

They wouldn’t let me not purple push. They kept telling me to hold my breath. I was induced tho at 40 weeks. I was contracting without really feeling them and baby could be in distress. I had been a few centimeters dilated for a couple months. They broke my water and there was meconium in it. Pitocin got too painful after they broke my water so I had an epidural lying down. Then the baby had shoulder dystocia. So many people flooded the room it was impressive. I had tearing and a hematoma hours later requiring a second epidural and stitching up since they didn’t pack the area after delivery. Had some blood loss so they had to give me some the next day. I don’t know how I could have had a better experience unless I had a c-section maybe. I also had retained placenta a couple months later. I was still bleeding when it should have stopped. Removed in the OB office. Then I had to take pills to flush any left. Fun times.

Baby was just fine. These doctors are really something else. I’m sorry. I just feel like they induce everyone. Then say “baby is in danger” to get you to listen to everything they come up with. Baby was fine. 40 weeks is amazing. Too many babies come too soon. I hope you learned from this for next time to be better. Also being dilated early is also natural. But they use it as another scare tactic. But I’ve had to give birth many times in order to get where I am today. So I’m not judging you. They induced my first pregnancy and I was ripped to my bung hole. They stitched me for an hour. Couldn’t walk straight for months. I also needed a blood transfusion because of all the blood loss. Wayy too much blood. They did me dirty. lol. But we both survived. And you did too. Thank God and congratulations.

How do you suggest communicating this to a provider before pushing phase begins? I want to make them aware beforehand that I will be pushing how I choose and want to avoid pushback by them at all costs.
@Diamanttii4 ай бұрын
For me these videos gave me quite false expectations that ended up being harmful to me. This is not always possible for everyone. I was prepared to NOT give birth on my back in the traditional position and not do any purple pushing, just like what we keep hearing these days on the internet and it the way it's explained, it makes perfect sense, and probably works for many people, but not always. Purple pushing was necessary for me to concentrate/gather as much power as possible into each push. I spend 35 mins on all fours, breathing out with each push instead of purple pushing, but it was not doing anything at all, it was waste of time and energy quite literally. Things only started to move when I listened to the midwife (who had 26 years of experience) and did things the "traditional way".
@mrs.ogbuagu3 ай бұрын
Timing is a big factor. If you want to “get it over with” like the doctors do, then by all means, let them take over (and pull the baby with forceps if necessary) But the body may need time. Nurses know this. Doctors know this. They want to be in control and have a typical birth with everything controlled. It’s okay to take your time. It’s okay to tell them I’m not ready to push yet. They will say “well baby is crowning and you need to push now”. It’s up to you to say, I understand, but I’m not rushing this. Don’t let them scare you. Or pressure you. Ignore their tactics. You’re going to do great and if it’s important to you to have control over your birth experience then you should!

Is this only possible without an epidural? (The mother led thing and the ejection reflex)

@mrs.ogbuagu3 ай бұрын
I had an epidural and still had the ejection reflex. 😊 It was my first baby. but nurses told me not to push until doctor comes in. ??? I told them that’s not me. It’s my body. I couldn’t stop even if I wanted to. Your body just takes over. So cool. 😎

I tried all positions, and all breathing. Still ended up with pelvic floor issues, the snip and vacuum.. sigh... i thought i was pushing with my body but maybe i did a bit of purple pushing too.
@mrs.ogbuagu3 ай бұрын
The important thing is that you made it through and have a healthy baby. Congratulations. Now you have experience for next time. 😊 Remember that birth is not a race. Doctors want baby out fast and will pressure moms. They break your water. Give drugs to induce you and make you push before you’re ready natural. They can’t help it cuz theirs a dozen mommas on the floor at the same time. So they streamline everything. So for next time , learn everything you can to be more ready and relaxed.

Please tell me if this normal. I am on week 41 and I have not had any pain. In fact, I still feel normal. Anyways, yesterday I went to the doctor and she put her finger inside my V and massage the babies head and check my cervix etc. Omg that hurt 😞 like it hurt a lot !!!!! Is this normal. From this I am on pain down there and my back. Please answer me this.
@mrs.ogbuagu3 ай бұрын
Yes normal babe. The number of weeks is not an exact number. It’s not a race. I don’t know why they checked you like that because CLEARLY it’s almost time for labor. I hope you had a healthy baby. Yes there will be some pain in this process, but I don’t like that they gave you more pain.

I know it's only vaguely related to the video but I really would like to ask what the ideal ml of witch wazel is that I should get. I want to buy the best value for money but also prefer to avoid buying too much (is that possible...). Being in my first pregnancy, I have no idea how much of what I need for recovery and recovery is the part I'm now actually more concerned about. I'm no longer worried about labour and delivery so I want to sort out the bit that will actually last for quite some time... 😅 Also, what should I look out for when buying Witch Hazel... I'd also like to not end up with something that's actually bad for me! 😅

Hi Bridget, thanks for your video. My first birth I ended up getting an episiotomy, which I didn’t want, but I had been pushing for 3 hours. I’m just wondering, why wouldn’t the fetal ejection reflex not have kicked in when they saw her head right at the opening and head kept sucking back in. Just interested to hear your thoughts. I am now pregnant with my third, and I would love to not tear this time (I had second degree tear with the second). Thanks so much.
