Should have been around in the early 60's then you would have seen real big fish, before the dam went in, before poisoning Orofino creek in the 60's to kill eels. Not that there aren't big fish but nowhere near the count in the early days.

I'm a native idahoan I've been fishing for the B&A runs in Idaho my whole life and you should never take a native fish out of the water it almost makes me sick to watch you do it it was a nice video but there was a lot of mishaps and wrongdoing to some of those fish lot of Education needs to be brought upon some of those people running that boat do a little more research if it's a wild fish or you're not going to keep it shouldn't even bring it out of the water let alone grab it with your dry hands. Shows a total lack of respect and ignorance to what you're doing you need to do a little more research and get educated on how to properly catch land in handle a wild fish I know it's hard to hear the truth sometimes and I'm not a radicalist about it but I feel like people are super uneducated about the whole thing we need to be very careful with an already very sensitive ecosystem

chris kriewall big deal it’s not going to hurt the fish to keep it out of the water for a few secs... it’s just what you “should” do. As long as u don’t drop them on rocks your fine. Just don’t keep it out of the water for more than 10 seconds or so.

@@riffraff1880 actually they've closed steelhead fishing in Idaho due to low returns. And they're trying to make it law not be able to take out fish out of the water times are changing and they're probably not going to allow bait fishermen to fish with bait. Things are going to change and no do you research air exposure to Steelhead is a big deal. Actually Google search air exposure to salmon and steelhead. You'll find a study of a gentleman who is on April vokey Z podcast and there you'll actually find scientific data and information that says you should not exposed salmon and steelhead to the air that's why they belong in the water I don't mind somebody getting their hands on a fish and taking a picture but keep the fish in the water do your research we used to think smoking was okay we used to smoke in the hospital's smoking are homes around our kids but we've learned if that's not healthy we evolved as humans and with scientific data and proper research to back it up will find that were wrong about a lot of things that we thought we were right about and if you even give a s*** instead of just being right you'll actually read the research that still continues on this matter.

Kristy, be careful. Whoever's told you that fishermen are conservationists hasn't been fishing much or at all. Also, the ones spearheading the return of the wild fish are the Tribes and the folks who have worked hard to finally make dam removal a reality ... And the ones finding ways to carry the fish over the current dams from both directions so the young don't get beat up or ground up. ... And then there are the sea otters waiting at the dams. What's the best way to stop them from killing every salmon/steelhead in sight? Maybe Cabela's has the answer.

I appreciate your input on the fish issue. Yes you are correct, the tribes are doing the lions share of funding for the return of these fish, however, I disagree that fishermen are not conservationists. The sale of state licences to anglers is part of what funds 75% of each agencies budget- that is anglers putting conservation dollars in the ground. That fact alone helps fund the projects that support healthy fish populations.

Kristy, not here in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois. Ever since republicans took over stockings have been drastically reduced. DNR wardens are few and far between. ... For instance, while watching a Musky spawning/No Fishing area in Madison WI, 3 different fishermen/sportsmen caught 3 muskies from 15 - 20 lbs. I said something about it and was told to mind my own or else. These were guys with the cameras rolling, Cabela's and Bass Pro gear on. It's sickening. I called the DNR tip line. One warden on duty in the office. That's just one story of many I witnessed. I'd like to see some of the regular TV fishing and hunting shows dedicate a show regularly on this topic.

I have no authority to determine weather those fish were taken legally or not. You did the right thing and turned them into local law enforcement. That is all any of us can do. The NRA is putting together a anti-poaching and poaching awareness program that is in its infancy right now. As far as those anglers wearing Cabela's and Bass Pro clothing, they sell their gear indiscriminately so they most likely do not have a personal relationship with the anglers that you are talking about. I am trying my best to raise awareness to conservation efforts and I appreciate you watching.
