You are a true craftsman, love watching you at work. I've never had an issue with rear sprocket and using blue thread lock. I've put a ton of sprockets on over the years, I hate anything with red locker.

Check out the DRC bleeder cup for the shock. Was going to do this as I want to start changing my own oil. I do it on the forks and have for a while. Just never had a shock apart. Does not look terribly hard. That is what I was going to pick up to make it easier. I'd seen it bled through the adjuster before. With the murphys just break it down a relube more. Brake lube is silicone based. Sil-glyde. Trying it out. I bought a large tube fairly inexpensive from Amazon (larger tubes that standard mouse lube). Might include that in your test.

I am self-taught, although that entails watching lots of other KZbin videos and reading service manuals. Once you reach a certain threshold of what you know, then it really all just starts to make sense. I literally knew absolutely nothing about wrenching on bikes 5 years ago.

What I hate these days is people just buy new bikes every year, which isn’t bad but I like to get a few years out of a bike before upgrading

less resale value as there’s way more hours on them what would you rather $1500 each year to upgrade to a brand new bike 0 hours etc and another $1000 in parts to fully build it or $4000 every 3 years and have to deal with a more clapped bike that you will end up spending money on maintenance etc

@@jameswarlick3311 They absolutely do. My bike is 2 years old and has gone from $12k to $6k in value despite being low hours and in great shape. I just spent $2500 on suspension because that was still a $3500 savings (not including sales tax and protection parts, so closer to $5k) and will be a better bike. Only downside is it has aged out of contingency, so if i podium any races now i don't get anything from the MFG.

too torque your front sprocket you can put a hammer or a random tool in between the tire and the swing arm to lock the wheel, shift the bike into gear, and torque it.

Love the videos! Always makes be wanna get back in the garage and tinker on mine when I see a new one. One thing I noticed maybe give advice on and not trying to be "that guy" lol just wanted to point out incase you didn't know, but when you had the torque wrench on the upper shock mount looked like your hand was choked up high on the wrench. If your hand is not at the back gnarled part of the torque wrench it will give a completely inaccurate torque reading. Just wanted to point out incase you didn't know. I don't wanna see you have something come loose in a critical moment as seems that's when that stuff happens haha... keep putting them out well keep watching!

Haha no worries, I appreciate learning new things too! I'm self-taught so now and again these comments help! That said, in that case my hand was there essentially to guide the wrench since I had to use an extension. Without some support, there is too much flex/movement with an extension to be accurate and not slip. In those cases, I try to "influence" the torque wrench as little as possible while guiding it if that makes sense?

@KincadePavich Gotcha.. yeah I know what you mean. I wasn't 100% sure as I couldn't see the whole torque wrench. It almost looked like you were applying pressure in the clip but wasn't sure if just supporting or ... lol. So just figured I'd throw it out there incase. Definitely make it a habit to service linkage and swing arm bearings every winter brother, linkage lasts forever as long as it’s clean and serviced, it’s when they are neglected when the bearings turn to dust lol

Love the rm that wouldn’t shift I had a ktm 125 I built for a friend do the same thing and I caught it at the shifter luckily. I will be in for a shock rebuild this summer on a 93 rmx 250 and it will be my first time doing one ever, but I have done everything else possible on bikes for nearly 10 years now. Love the approach to things you take, very meticulous which I can agree with!

If you’re constantly adding fluid, there must be a leak somewhere… fluid doesn’t exactly disappear. That, or you have a HUGE bubble somewhere!

Yes it is! I still use my vise with fork clamps for the internals. But it’s nice for the outers and driving seals

Murphy 100% deteriorates your bibs faster. It sucks I know but I would not recommend using it. Nitro mouse actually has a video about it and they give you a Napa part number for silicone grease or you can buy super lube silicon oil for 280$ a gallon which is still cheaper than 8$ tubes of bib cooling gel in the long run.

i have a old ktm exc 450 from the '04's I have put more then 800 hours on it. [Offcourse with engine rebuilds including] But that damm thing rides even know as a real beast.. Dont get scared if a bike has a lot off houres on it. As long that it got his maintance it's okay

Debating on a 350 but not sure I'm a good enough rider yet are they alot faster than a 250 ? Looks so much better now, love the white plastic against the orange 👌

It depends how you like to ride! They definitely have more power than a 250, but you can ride them lower in the RPMs without having to rev like a 250. They don't have the same "rip out from under you" torque like a 450, but are still a very strong motor.

Yessir Brayden is on it, I’d look for something fuel injected and you can finder older ones in the $2500 range nowadays. Carbed are cheaper but often come with problems

Thank you! I would have to disagree with this comment... Clearances are there for a reason. They have minimums and maximums for a reason. If a very tight valve causes a bike to run poorly, not start, and stall frequently, then it makes total sense that valves *slightly* out of spec would cause much lesser versions of those issues. I very rarely stall, and the rides prior to the adjustment I found myself stalling a couple times per ride and revving the bike to get everything I could out of it. Fast forward to the Arizona trip, 1 stall in 10 days, fired up quick, and ran properly. That was the only factor changed that could impact what I was experiencing. Why would you think that out of spec valves don't have an impact?

Nah just 1 for alignment. Top stem nut is very low torque on KTMs. It's like 15 ft lbs or something like that. In fact you can't have the forks torqued on any bike to torque the stem; the clamps need to be able to move up and down a little. This when I do install a fork to tighten the clamps I generally only tighten upper or lower clamp to allow that necessary movement. Does that make sense?

It depends how it was ridden! I bought a GasGas 350 with 118 hours and didn’t ever touch the engine. Sold it at 180. But I bought it from a 69 year old! When bikes are ridden hard they wear out more quickly. 100 hours is not too many, but you saw my bike at 100 hours needed linkage bearings and a valve adjustment. Essentially, no, not too many hours - but buy as wisely as you can!

I can't tell you the number of 4 strokes I see with hundreds of hours on the original piston. I plan to run this at least 200 hours. Hopefully I don't come back to this comment saying you were right! Also, this piston has 80 hours. I replaced it with a Wiseco at 20 hours after a failure of a defective OEM piston.
