In order to make up for killing Joel, in the first 2 hours, they really need to make a prequel game with Joel and Tommy during those 20 years

@@gdiego135 talking about bill and tess i noticed in tess's list that the meetings with bill started several weeks apart then shortened to fewer weeks and joel probably arrived at bill's town 2 weeks earlier than he should (in her list it says 3 more weeks and I'm assuming it took around a week for joel to walk to bill's town). wonder what they would get this time since tess complained about the last drop being too mid

They ruined the story honestly and no it's not "REALISTIC" I'm not even gonna point that shit out but there's no interest in the last of us any characters we cared about are either ruined or dead and the fact that they most likely have to resort to a prequel game shows that they really missed the mark on part ll

Jesus I think Part 2 would have really really really benefited from including a DLC of what Joel did in those 20 years. This would 1. Satisfy the people who craved for more Joel is this game and 2. Build on his character even more, show us stuff we didn't even know about him, making us want to go back and replay the games with a brand new perspective. Would've been so so good.

I think it wouldn't work out well in a DLC, I guess it could be a good idea for a 'The Last of Us Part 3', where we see all the stories of Joel and Tommy between 2013 and 2033. The Last of Us Part 2 introduced new characters and new possible future stories. I think they did the right thing with both games.

I really wonder what happened to the Boston QZ after Joel and Tess left in Part I. Was there a civilian uprising? Did Marlene leaving for Salt Lake City allow for FEDRA to claim victory over the area? Did FEDRA pull their forces out completely and abandon the civilians to fend for themselves? It’s also sad to think that so many people who were close to Joel and Tess in the Boston QZ never saw them again after they left the wall and met Ellie. They probably think that either FEDRA captured them or that they died. (Eventually that was true 😢) In Part II it’s pretty much assumed that after the 5 year jump, FEDRA and the Fireflies no longer exist anywhere. But we eventually find out about Santa Barbara
@grimreaper6060
@grimreaper6060 7 ай бұрын
Instead of The Last of Us Part II, we should've got a game that takes time BEFORE the first The Last of Us. A prequel, in which we play as Joel on the first years of the infection, keeping Tommy alive, heading to Boston, meeting Tess and making some deals with Bill. Can you imagine playing as Tommy and Tess on some parts? That would be great!

i had this Theory a while back that Norway was left mostly unharmed due to having their own supply of basically any Natural Food Source like Veggies, Meats and Fish etc. but when the infection got closer, they cut themselves off completely with ruthless killings on the borders of Russia and Sweden, using high exlposive ordnance to create literal canyons that noone could cross. i wonder if this theory could be made into a game on it's own. would be hell'a interesting to have an Episodic game set in other countries, Norway being one of them. the UK as well would be VERY interesting to see how the Fungal Infection affected life there.

Britain likely fell very fast due to our dependence on exports and high population density. However people in rural areas such as the Yorkshire dales or the Scottish mountains would likely build settlements similar to jackson. Infected likely became shambles due to the high rain levels.

My thoughts were that if they wanted to do a story on how revenge destroys oneself and those around they could have show Joel as a hunter trying g to find the CO who gave the order to shoot him and Sarah with Tommy initially supporting him but as the years go on he ends up viewing Joel's actions as meaningless violence and joins up with the Fireflies. Show Joel getting g increasingly detached from people and his actions.

The game is a filimic voyage of discovery as an art form that most people are aware of so it has some familiar narrative landmarks but it breaks out of that with the player input and that for myself raises expectations for what's to come whilst being pleased with what has happened so far over the past 35 years of on and off gaming. The first game was so good I hoped they would never make a sequel. That's the highest praise I can give as it ended so well for me that I wanted to just remember the game as a piece of interactive art/storytelling crystallised in time. Because once something is successful there are always greedy money people who are the antithesis of the creatives and want a piece of that pie. They then go on to tell the creatives how they can make more money if only they add ingredients the extremely uncreative money people promise will help. And then there's always the risk that politics will creep into a game. I mean, you wouldnt risk the significant chance that a few people making something may have differing values to the massive amount of people who will play your game would you? Surely you wouldn't want to ruin the purity of gameplay for politics and the risk of sticking your middle finger up at all the fans who helped make you a success by parting with the money they gained by giving time and labour away to have earnt it?

@@Kiddo_williams I know, how could I pay attention to a story where the "main" character doesn't forgive a man who offended her and makes her a sandwich, yet forgives the woman who killed her father figure. So... bold... so... vogue... so... risqué!!!! Lol

@@UltraPvnk She didn’t forgive Abby at all. First of all, to understand the ending of this game, it is necessary to understand Ellie's motivations and goals throughout the game. Because if you don't understand that, it's no wonder why you find the ending strange and out of character. When Joel dies, Ellie falls into a destructive hatred. A hatred for his killer. But above all a hatred towards herself, a guilt consuming her from within. A guilt that she will blame on this group that she decides to hunt down. She thinks that it will give her peace, she convinces herself that this is what Joel would have done for her, that he would already be in Seattle already if it were her who had been killed. It is his defense mechanism: this fantasm that revenge will give her closure. But in reality, it's not really about justice for Joel and more about her ego. The fact that, once again, someone decided for her. That someone take her chance of forgiving him. She thinks killing everyone involved in Joel's death would help her heal. But she killed Nora and things didn't go the way she was expected them to go. Killing Nora didn't help at all. So Ellie reachs to another conclusion, another vision of seeing things : the only person she has to kill to find peace is Abby. She's the real responsable. She is the person who killed Joel. From then on, Ellie takes yet more risks to accomplish her goal. She lets Dina alone in the theater, she lets down Jesse and Tommy to go after Abby even if it means to do it alone... She doesn't care about the others people involved in Joel's death, she only wants Abby, only her. That's what she says to Owen and Mel : You guys can survive this, I just need her. Then, much later in the game, comes the scene of the farm where Ellie leaves Dina. To understand Ellie's action, it is important to realize that during the game, Ellie faces the 5 stages of grief. Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. And acceptance. At that point, Ellie is at the fourth stage : Depression. She doesn't eat, she can't sleep. Ellie is not happy with Dina. She can't see the end of the tunnel. But Ellie no longer has the hatred she had towards Abby at the beginning of the game, and this can be observed by comparing the scene when she leaves Jackson, to the scene when she leaves Dina. In the first, we feel Ellie's hatred, anger, rage. But in the second, we only feel sadness, despair, grief. She is haunted by Joel's death and continues to believe in this fantasm of revenge. She has to kill Abby to get closure. She has to finish it. Once and for all, because her life is hell, and she doesn't know how to heal. So we get to this point at the end of the game, when Ellie is drowning Abby. And at that moment, Ellie feels no joy, no peace. Just more anger, pain and sadness. She feels miserable, at the bottom of the hole and she lives what is called, a cathartic moment. A moment when she finally releases all the emotions she had kept in her for so long. It's the final gap. And while she drowns Abby, her fantasm is destroyed Even when she's able to kill the person responsible for Joel's death, she doesn't feel that peace she was supposed to feel. She doesn't feel it at all. And that cathartic event, that destruction of her defense mecanism leads to Joel's flashback, the one that makes her stop. And to understand why, we need to understand what this flashback is about. THE PORCH SCENE I don't think it's a coincidence Ellie started wanting to forgive Joel that night specifically. Because that last night, something really important happened to Ellie. She kissed Dina. And I really think that when Ellie danced with Dina, she was happy for one of her first times in her life. Ellie had a community, friends, a girlfriend. She was happy to be alive, to be able to experience this kind of thing, to be able to kiss the girl she had been in love for years. From then on, she could no longer blame Joel for taking away her reason for living, because she had just found a new one: Dina. On the porch, Joel decides to talk about Dina. And at that moment, Ellie says the kiss didn't mean anything, but it's not true. It does. A lot. And Joel knows that. So he answer that Dina would be lucky to have her. The thing is, that by saying that, Joel is trying to justify his actions. Because if he didn't save Ellie at the end of the game, Dina couldn't have been lucky to have her, because she would be dead. Oh And he wouldn't trade that for anything in the world. No matter the price, no matter if it means that Ellie must hate him for the rest of his life, no matter if he should die for what he did, he has no regrets because he sees that she is finally happy. She's the one who give a meaning to HIS life. That's what the porch scene is about. It's not about forgiveness. It's about Joel teaching to Ellie what gives a meaning to life. That her immunity doesn't define her. That a life of meaning is a life made with someone else. And for Ellie, that someone else is Dina. So when Ellie has this flashback while she's drowning Abby, she remembers that she lost the real thing that gives her a meaning to her life. She lost it because of her ego, like she lost Joel because she was too hurt to forgive him sooner. But she also remember that it's not what Joel would have wanted for her. She remembers that Joel always put the people he loved first. Joel would not have wanted Ellie to go down this path of hate, of revenge, of violence, of loss. He never would have wanted her to put herself in danger, to put her friends in danger, to leave Dina and JJ. And that's why it kills me everytime someone says "Joel would have wanted Ellie to kill Abby !" or "Ellie betrayed Joel !". But no. If it was the case, Joel would be a horrible father. Because what kind of father would want his daughter to do that kind of thing ? What kind of father would like his daughter become a killing and violent machine ? What kind of father would like his daughter to leave the only people that still love her ? Joel saved Ellie because he wanted her to be happy, and that's why he doesn't have any regret, because he sees her happy and healthy. Sparing Abby is not Ellie betraying Joel. It's Ellie understanding his lesson. The one he teached her that night, on that porch. That choice she made to spare Abby showed she still had a good chunk of her that has humanity still there. Ellie returns to the farm as a better person. She’s at the fifth stage of grief which is acceptance. When she puts Joel’s guitar down it’s her putting his death to rest and going to the light the same way a moth does which is the last shot of the game a moth.
