When you said Coats thread, it made me think of my sweet Papaw. He worked at the factory starting as his first real job until he retired from there. That’s unheard of these days. He told me he went every morning and would ask for a job and they’d tell him no. He’d go anyways and just sit on the steps before they got there and catch them on the way in. Eventually, they relented and gave him a job.

This was the best list of gifts for a sewist. Most lists are very expensive items. You have listed things that we all need that are not expensive. This is a great video thank you so much for putting it together.

Love your channel! Love your content! I think you should make a sticker of your mini quilt, “be here now“. It’s iconic to your videos now. lol. I would buy one just based on the message.

I just bought those Guggenheim scissors for myself. Boyhowdy are they the bomb! My fingers all fit and no cramps in my fingers using them, like my other "G" brand was doing. A plus plus recommend those.

To sharpen your scissors fold sand paper in half rough side out and make several cuts. Then follow by cutting several snips through folded tin foil. Do this every 3 months.

My husband just got me clappers for my birthday (he went on a sewing forum and asked) and they make nice flat seams. Didn't know I needed them, but a sweet, thoughtful gift.

I have to have my bobbins with the spool, too many different shades of the same color, so I use those "bobbi-pin-type" clip things that connect the bobbin to the spool. Or I'm just too "type A". 😅 Thank you for the ideas!

On the topic of Gutterman thread, I would recommend a thread color guide…got mine from Wawak. It features actual threads wrapped inside so you San see the real color of the thread, which has helped avoid colors that looked correct on screen but wasn’t. Not stocking sized but worth it if you make a bigger stocking! Great ideas on your list…

You had a great list!!! And you r right!!! Pins and sharp things do wear out and we really don't notice it because we're just so used to using it dull.... Thank you so much for your wonderful list it gave me lots of great ideas.... I was so proud of myself when I thought this year about buying my friend's rotary cutter blades for Christmas.... I really love the Fisker brand and I work in a hardware store that now carries the rotary cutters and blades and I was able to buy them at a good price... So you and me are on the same page! Yay!!!❤️❤️❤️😆

I really enjoy your videos! I get great ideas as well as product thoughts. I was a big sewer years ago, but a TBI 20 years ago pushed my ' puzzling skills' away ( and sewing is a series of puzzles!). Short term memory is awful, so I take notes a lot! I'm mainly a straight line seamstress, but am trying more and more to expand. The Sewing Magic book is AMAZING! Your videos are helping me so much! Thank you again!

Yes you can have your pinking shears sharpened. But apparently it is tricky. If they are taken too far they they end up falling all the way around, happened to mine. (hard to explain) They replaced them but know that can happen. I bought the rotary blades you mentioned and they are great! Thanks for all the fun videos, enjoy your channel so much!

I love my Quilting Gloves. I suggest cutting the tips off the thumb and the pointer finger. This will allow you to pick up pins and thread your machine without having to remove your glove. And my hands need to breathe when I quilt. Happy sewing!

I'd love a video about how to oil your sewing machine. I inherited my grandma's old Bernina 830 over 10 years ago and have never oiled it.... 😳
@Noreenlee114 сағат бұрын
You can look up specific sewing machines for maintenance guidance. Just put in Bernina 830 maintenance.
@IndigoSew13 сағат бұрын
I have my Mum’s! Check out Bernina Jeff’s KZbin vid on oiling the Bernina Record 830 (so helpful that it’s the exact machine). Oiling makes a huge difference (and only takes a couple of minutes). I followed Jeff’s suggestion and put a dot of red nail polish on/near each oiling point so I don’t have to watch the video each time. He oils a lot more points than the user manual mentions but, given that he’s repaired and serviced them for decades, I was happy to go with his recommendation. And now she really purrs ☺️ Good luck with it 🧵
@lynnries77297 сағат бұрын
Congratulations! The 830 is the best mechanical machine made by Bernina. Purchased mine in 1980, still going strong. There are several good videos on KZbin showing how to oil specific machines. Type in bernina 830 oiling and maintenance and take your pick.
