Well, my frame of reference is reality and verifiable factual statements about reality. With reality in mind it is trivial to show that Putin lies all the time, from stories about the history of Russia to facts about recent times. Just listen to the famous Tucker+Putin interview and count the false hoods presented. Call that "caricature" or not, we can see what is going on.

Interesting points brought up by Dr. Galeotti. He seems clearly ahead of most when it comes to understanding Putin and his circle of elitists that were born from (and flourished during) the Soviet era. The only part that I disagree with, and I think I am mostly alone in this theory, is regarding Prigozhin. I don't think the whole Prigozhin ordeal was what it was portrayed to be, and I don't necessarily agree with speaking about him using the past tense.

VERY interesting conversation. Definitely some points to think about, although more of a confirmation on most of his points from general observation. Once Putin is gone (I have no illusians that he will stop this blood bath while still alive and in power) it will be very interesting to watch who takes the reins and how the people of Russia react to their new reality. Today I saw another Russian conscript complaint video where they whined about embezzlement and having to pay for their own uniforms and equipment and the usual lack of supplies. They talked about wearing last seen no longer here comrades uniforms and the smell and sickness it brings. They express their immense gratitude for the financial support of the public. This is Russia's war and Russians support it as made obvious in many such videos. Unfortunately Mr Galeotti cannot separate his love for Russia from the reality that Russians have been convinced that they are superior to everyone and especially Ukraine. Those who do not think that have already left.

That is a well founded rebuttal but after Russia defeats itself the West needs to step in with a Marshall plan to help support the region building up a less corrupt more democratic society that benefits broadly from the wealth of the nation rather than forming a new serf and master culture as it is today between Moscow and the provinces.
