On Wednesday, a police, the Coast Guard and the Customs Service took action against a Russian yacht that was in port in Narvik. It is unclear what the boat did there, and why it was taken into action. The yacht is owned by former KGB officer Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, who is friends with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Length is reported on yachts because with smaller yachts it is the factor that determines what regulations the vessel falls under. For example in the red ensign group yact code (uk and crown dependencies) 13.7 meters and 24 meters waterline length are points where the regulations change on yachts. With larger yachts (over 24 meters waterline or 80 gt) interior volume is the factor that determines what regulations the vessel has to follow.
