12:27 I've both installed and lived with that style of floating lock-together flooring. One very important thing - especially if the floor is going to get direct sunlight or experience wide temperature swings - is to leave room around the edges for thermal expansion (which you can hide under baseboards or other trim). Otherwise, as the flooring heats up it will have nowhere to grow and will buckle itself up off the subfloor quite noticeably. Really happy to see more Itty Bitty content. Can't wait to see what you & the guys get up to with her.

Exactly what I wanted to say. Didn't he even say it was supposed to be a floating floor? My neighbor made the mistake of putting his laminate in too tight not leaving a gap to the walls in his house and within a year it started buckling lol..

Glad to see the progress ! One suggestion on drilling through metal. Use a hole punch to tap an indentation in the metal where the center of your drill hole will be. Secure the metal w clamps or a vise to make it more stable. Start with a drill bit about 1/2 the size of the final diameter you want. A drop of oil in the drill hole cavity helps alot. Drill through, then switch to the final diameter drill bit.

You should put big stainless steel washers on each bolt for your flood lights on top. You should also put sealant in the holes and on the bolts before you put them through.
@tjocho Жыл бұрын
I usually trace a "gasket" type thingy with the sealant on the bottom of anything that is going to be bolted on the hull, on top of what you suggested with the "holes and bolts". Be generous with sealant or its just a matter of surprisingly short time before you get a new hull rot or leak.

If I may make a suggestion. I would use a sealant around all your thru-hull fittings and screws. There is a marine sealant that I forget the proper name for but it comes in 2 varieties. I think it’s 4200 sealant that is removable. 5200 sealant is almost permanent. I would use the 4200 And you might want to make a flat bracket to mount under the top of itty bitty where you mounted your lights to stiffen it up and lessen chance of pulling through. Love your enthusiasm! Good luck!

On top of that at the end of the day it's about the life experience, the learning and the feeling of accomplishment from doing most of it himself and lastly he just needs to remember why he's doing it, what he'll get from it at the end, the experiences he'll have with his mates and a boat he can not just be proud of but really take places and do things he'd never, ever do otherwise.
