They had to pay him because of the timing, but half a season of excellence could backfire hard

They paid rodgers and Favre when they were in the same situation. Love was better than both of them and got paid relatively the same (factoring inflation)

Will always be angry at this as a Vikings fan. I was screaming from the heavens for us to draft this guy back in 2020, sit him and develop him. We got Justin Jefferson, which is great, and I’ve been taking flack and not even keeping my mouth shut that I still wanted him over JJ for years… He starts for one season, and now look. Nobody outside of Minnesota would argue that the Vikings are closer to a Super Bowl than the Packers right now.🤦🏾🤦🏾 Packers are on their third franchise quarterback in a row, and we can’t even draft good backups🤦🏾

McCarthey the hand-off merchant will probably bust too lol
@romain83905 ай бұрын
@@ADUSN YES HE WILL. I’ve scouted him extensively even before the draft. I thought even Nix was better. McHandoff Has a much more exciting physical skill set, but Nix truly plays the position like a starting NFL quarterback. We’re cooked. because even with Caleb in the division now, if JJ McCarthy hits his ceiling, at the maximum, he is the third best quarterback in the division.
@JangaLangaBanga5 ай бұрын
Well who's to say that Love would have looked like that in Minnesota. Sitting behind Rodgers and that coaching staff obviously know what they're doing for developing QBs. What gives me hope for JJ McCarthy is that last year we saw OConnell coach up Dobbs for a win on his first week with the team. That didn't last and you could argue that the win was because it was impossible for the opposing team to game plan against an unknown variable at QB, but I trust this regime to get JJ up to speed at the start of next year. And let's see what Darnold does.

lol I think the packers are a lot closer to a Super Bowl than the Vicks 🤣🤣yall prolly won’t even beat them this year much less make it too a Super Bowl the packers almost made it last year, I would put money the pack is gonna be in the nfc championship😂 they have maybe the best defense in the league rn and injuries can’t even stop them cuz they have depth at literally every position and they have good RBs 3 of them to be exact and 6 really young good wrs, yall have 2, the Viking defense won’t be able to stop the packers trust me bro😂 and they have a great o line right now and great coordinators, it’s kinda too perfect😂 I haven’t seen such a full team my whole life, it’s like a madden team idk how they did it and aren’t even in cap debt.

Nah, any QB can be great. They need time to develop a good system. Look at the 2021 draft class all of them except Lance were thrown into a trash situation and failed.

Percentage of cap helps justify these rankings as much as I think it’s still too high. I would say love and Lawrence are around the 10th best qb, and I can rationalize their contracts more than Tua and Goff who I just don’t think have the upside to live up to their contract.
@ronktheponk5 ай бұрын
T-Law and Love both have the upside to be a top 5 QB too. Completely agree with your point though.

Naw, he's good but he's not worth that kinda money. He gets away with some unsound and very lucky passes but that's all going to catch up to him sooner or later. Dallas looked past him, obviously didn't game plan for him at all and he jumped out on them in a glorious display of Cowboy booty stomping. Not to say the guy isn't good but he's now overpaid, like Lamar Jackson.
