Putting lipstick on a pig! Painting LE93

I've been invited to display LE93 on the Reliant Owners Stand at the 2023 NEC Practical Classics Restoration Show, how can I display her without giving her a little freshen up.
So we get new paint and stickers on this lovely old three wheeler.

I bought my wife a cricut for Christmas to do her crafting. It's also come in very handy for making replica stickers for my mopeds🙂

It must be 30 years since I put stripes on a car, it was the done thing back in the day along with mud flaps, magic tree, painted tyres and floor mats cut from carpet...😎🤣

If you want to stop the moss while it's parked up just spray it with furniture polish, don't rub it in just coat it, i do this with my caravan an works a treat,,,something i learnt by other caravan owners!

Wish i could of got the time off of work to come along in my 93 MK2 but sadly they wouldnt let me :(. would of been great to meet you and guys like James of CHG. been following your Robin journey since you pulled it from the bush and Half of my car is built from parts from James at this point!. have a great time though mate and your LE is looking mint!, probably the best one around now

Car is looking brilliant and back on the road it is so different to when you first got it. Is that colour scheme some kind of factory special edition? The painter has made a great job of the bodywork. Enjoy the show.

The colour scheme was a 1993 special to cele rate Reliant being allowed to display a 3 wheeler at the UK Motor Show. They made 93 cars in each colour blue, red and green.

@@StevesMachines So I’m guessing in it’s own right it is quite a rare vehicle not just because there’s less Reliants around but likely less of the special editions. I grew up being driven around in a Regal.

It is LE93 because traditionally the British International Motor Show has always excluded 3-wheelers because classed as 'tricycles'. In 1992 Reliant made history at the show when Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) allowed Reliant to exhibit a 3-wheeler in the form of a Robin. To mark the occasion, a special limited edition version of the Robin was announced at the show, that appeared in 1993. Instantly recognisable with colour flashes applied to the sills and word 'Ninety Three' just above nearside headlight. A standard Robin except for an 'upmarket radio cassette player' fitted as standard.

It does look great. Good job man. Why do people still call them plastic pigs? I understand it was a nickname police officers gave them but it seems a bit harsh.

They were called plastic pigs by garages as they were a pig to work on, especially as the early Robins didn't have inspection hatches to get to the sides of the engines. Not aware of any police links.
