Firstly welcome back , nice you have got a bit of spare time for videoing again . Bongo is looking fantastic. Certainly doesn't look anything like its age. Had a quick look on Wikipedia, didn't realise the history of them went right back to the 1960's first ones are 58 years old . You Live and learn . Cheers for the update . Mitch.

I recently took the head off of my Kitten to change the valve stem seals and a bit of porting, the access is much better on the Kitten but I still had a big problem with getting the head off,I had to jack the head off from underneath using the weight of the car to force the head up,that broke one of the engine rubber mounts which I then held down with a rachet strap, all in all took two hours for the head to come off,the head gasket didn't fit the same as yours so did the same as you with the holes, the head gasket came away in two parts half on the head half on the block lots of cleaning to get them off, then cleaned the stud holes in the head and cleaned the head studs greased the head gasket both sides and also the full length of the studs to hopefully stop the bi-metallic corrosion, really hoping not to do that again soon, top marks for devising solutions to the problems you had.

Old video I know bu I had the same prob with my top hose - replaced the rad, noticed an offset, replaced the hose with an original and it split. I bought the angled hose for plastic rads from CHG and has been fine since, mine had a sideways offset like yours so theres a little twist on the pipe but its sound hasn't bothered me since (Iv said this now it will split lol)

I don’t know if it’s the mic but your robin sounds so much quieter than mine engine wise! It’s always been a ‘raise voices high’ at 50-60mph and ‘don’t bother talking’ at 70 with how loud it gets! I’ve heard swapping to electronic ignition helps along with a different valve cover but always just assumed they were super loud with it being so close!

I just generally run a hose through them but you can get a chemical flush. There is a drain plug you can unscrew on the lower passenger side of the block but it seizes and can snap.
