Hey Kyle, be careful when running one injector only on a 2 injector intake. The lack of fuel on the back of one of your intake valves will lead to it getting much hotter than it would normally and could cause it to fail. There's also the possibility that you will get a build up of dirt on the back of the dry valve but I've been watching for long enough to know that the engine probably won't stay together for long enough for that to happen. Hope you see this before it potentially becomes an issue. You could solve this by going to a skunk2 manifold or similar that mounts a single injector in the center of the runner.
@TheGreenGrower618Ай бұрын
They could just weld up both holes and drill a new one centered in the runner.
@boostedboizАй бұрын
This was the first concern I had when we went to the single injector but from what we gathered it shouldn’t be a problem. We will definitely keep an eye on things and compare the valves when the head comes apart to see if we need to change it

I would lose that intercooler. It's not needed with methanol so it's just reducing boost via air restriction for no reason. Between that thing, the water pump, ice tank and water to fill it and the lines you could probably save close to 50lbs.
@TheGreenGrower618Ай бұрын
A 50lb weight reduction that cost nothing is big when you're spending thousands on carbon parts to save half that weight.

I've seen huge gains with intercoolers even on methanol. Yes meth takes the heat out of the air but an intercooler provides air density, and that makes a huge difference in turbo response, which on a small engine big turbo combination is really going to help this thing get off the line

Same fuel we run in my daughters jr dragster watch ur oil if it’s anything like the small motors we change to oil every 5-6 runs
@cajampaАй бұрын
I hear good things on either running a oil heater to heat out the moisture/methanol. Or running a light vacuum on, I think the crank case to suck out any methanol. To extend oil life significantly when running methanol. But I am only a casual observer and I can be totally misunderstanding something.
@Greg1096Ай бұрын
@@cajampaan oil heater does help, on my old drag and drive car i ran dual fuel systems for street vs strip and as long as you run it for a while on regular gas after finishing at the strip it will kinda cook some of that moisture out and give you a little more life out of your oil, still have to change it pretty often though, after drag week i would always drain the oil then fill with fresh, then run it for a few minutes on regular gas, then drain and refill again before putting the car away for any length of time. I just didn't like the idea of any residual moisture staying in the engine while it was sitting. Didnt wanna trash a $40k engine while it was sitting over the winter.
@cajampaАй бұрын
@@Greg1096 Ok. What do you think about that, pulling a slight vacuum somewhere high up on the engine for a good while though? I have read several saying, that when they get it into the routine to finish of the day with the engine still warm, with putting a slight vacuum on the engine somewhere high up I assume. The crank case might have been me misunderstanding/missrememebring where the optimal place was. Anyway it seems like it could work great to pull out the moisture and methanol that have fouled the oil. Because the boiling point of the oil is so much higher under vacuum, than the moisture and methanol + an oil heater keeping it hot enough to drive out foulants. It sounds to me like a good setup. At least those who talked about it mentioned they could extend the life of the oil many times that way. It seems like it could fix the need to run it on pump gas for safety also, so no moisture damaged parts, I would think anyway. Still draining out the oil before storage is probably a good idea anyway like you did.
@Greg1096Ай бұрын
@@cajampa I've heard of guys doing it that way though im not sure what sort of results they got. I've given up on drag and drive, decided I'm too old to spend a week driving around in an uncomfortable race car with no ac and all of the noise.
