Gear is better, but its also the slowest to upgrade. If you ignore the other stuff to up your gear, you will have ignored other stats that you could have had for months. On one hand, working on your gear gives you the single most boost in power, but on the other hand, the other stuff develops faster, and gives you enough of a boost to actually make it easier to get gear or enhance material in other challenges. Imagine if in real life a shotgun was more 5x more expensive and 3x more powerful than a pistol. You can save up for a shotgun, but you'd be without a gun until then. On the other hand, you can buy the pistol, have a gun, and then save up for the shotgun and now you have both guns (or you can sell the pistol).

You will lose both those stats if you hit replace.. you have to lock before you hit modify

Sorry about the delay in response, I work a lot I am trying to publish more content, as well as reply to people but this is currently not a full time thing. It depends on which you are upgrading. If you are upgrading Gear, Your shooter Atk will be The Shield, and the boots, The Def and HP will be the Ring and the suit. Chips and Modules You get all three by upgrading the Shooter Chip or Shooter Module. Cubes are a lot more general but great for troop stats. Your Time Cube will upgrade Rider, Shooter and Fighter ATK stats, also will boost Troop HP and Troop DEF, Troop stats apply to all troops not a specific type. Your Space Cube Upgrades Rider, Shooter, Fighter DEF, and Troop DEF and Troop ATK The Energy Cube Upgrades Rider, Shooter, Fighter HP, and Troop HP and Troop ATK.
