Troop Specialization: Which troop is the best? Answered!

So a lot of people ask about understanding why and how to specialize in a particular type of troop in Puzzles and Survival. Why do people choose the troop they choose and really which troop IS the best? I dive deeply into this topic and still don't cover as much ground as I would like. However, I do reveal a test showing the best of the best troop! The test and break down of which troop is the best starts out around minute 20. This video just helped me so much. I have just been trying to balance everything because I really didn't get the difference in the gear. Once shooters became my main focus, I focused on that area in chips and modules, not at cubes yet. But now I understand so much more about gear. The line up that works for me and helps my alliance the most is me being shooter based with my riders being secondary this is for my main account, with my farm account I'm shooter strong with fighters being my secondary however I still am keeping my riders close in percentage to my fighters just in case I decide to switch. As a side note I would like to add that I originally started out as rider for my main than figured out that tons of people were rider based so it became more practical to switch to shooter. Hey Valence! Love your posts! They are so helpful. Do you know why there are no 5 star Fighter Rash type heroes?

They do release new heroes on a semi frequent basis. The last couple heroes actually balanced out the biggest deficits in 5* heroes. I imagine eventually all type and class heroes will be represented so look out for a new hero in the future that will match that type. Thanx for watching!

I had a lot of t1s at the time for a couple different reasons. I dont have any right now. Sometimes it is useful for doing certain tasks or quests but my recommendation unless using for a specific purpose you should upgrade all troops to max.

Great info again, especially around the Gear mods, most new people won't realise the effect that will have on stats...I kind of new but didn't know it was this useful...my gear stats are awful (only have 3 star gear) so my question is what are effective ways to get gear promotion material (without paying!)? Also, how do you get all the frags...is it just a time thing and something that becomes easier (not easy, just easier!) to do at higher levels?

Higher level zombies/lairs random drop higher level hero choice cards and higher levels in campaign drop higher level recruit coins. The best way to get promotion material is by doing events. Watch the rewards for the events and you will see they often have promotion material at certain phase levels. That is why I always say save everything and only use your stuff for completing events! Ok so say I wanted to be a shooter. Does that go just for the troops or heroes as well. Cause my hero with the most hp is Marlowe who is a rider. But Ulrick is a fighter and I know he has a lot of atk but also seems to hit hard when I do things like the ultimate challenge

Also gaining hero fragments is random except choose cards for few one, so consider which you can push to +5....

I've been thinking about this a long and tinkering. I think there are two suggestions that can be made. 1. for your first three slots, it should always be your best fighter, your best rider, and your best shooter. 2. For the fourth slot, it should either be your second best (fighter, rider, shoot...depending on your speciality), or your best troop booster. In the fifth slot, either your best or second best troop booster, depending on what you went with in your 4th slot.

@@ValenceRing ok..so I realized that its been a few weeks since I tested that. But here is what I came up with..it automatically arranges my heroes from left to right. So Troops 1, Shooter 1, Fighter 1, Rider 1, Troops 2..this is the best battle I came up with. Fighter stat: 64%, Shooter Stat: 100%, Rider Stat: 24%, V: Empty, Troops: 65.6...its not a victory, but it is my best score at My damage 52,645 and Zombie Damage at 51387.

That was a long time ago in a land far far away lol. I used to always train t1s and then tier them up slowly but they changed how it works. Now the cost is the same regardless. (Used to be-or seem- a bit cheaper to tier up). So now all my troops are t10. And I only occasionally train lower tier troops if I'm trying to save on rss but still need to do my dailies. Then I upgrade them on training day of GAC.

One of my guys has 6 marches, I thought when you increase VIP you get more marches as they said on the VIP points they are written on it, you should be able to get +1 March as you increase VIP....that is weird.

@@GUEITOR so there are 4 ways to add a march. 3 in research, 1 from VIP level 8. So even though it says march queue +1 every time after vip lvl 8 that's not in addition too. That just showing that your total march queue is up 1 from original. Every new vip level shows all the previous levels upgrades as well. So when I first started I thought the same thing. But I am vip lvl 11 now and still only 5 marches. Hope this helps!

Vehicles are neutral. They are neither strong nor weak against any troop type.

Is it better both in time and rss to train a lower level troop then promote to a higher level or to just train the highest level you can? When I upgrade hq and can train higher level troops should I promote all my existing troops or just start training at the new level ?

So it used to be there seemed to be a small saving in time and rss by training low level troops and upgrading them later. But they adjusted this so you can only upgrade once and the cost appears to be the difference in time and rss from training the lower level vs the higher level. What this means is that there is no time or rss saved by training lower level then upgrading. The only real benefit to this trick is if you train max troops daily at a lower tier then upgrade them on training day en masse. That way you arent wasting all the speedups training your highest tier troop. As for when to upgrade to the next tier outside of training day during gac I would say it depends on how many troops you have. If you have 3 marches of 150k and you have 450k troops then upgrade immediately. If you only have say 200k troops then training new ones at the highest tier first. Then use training day to boost lower level troops to the highest tier.

I definitely recommend build and tech gear. Obviously 5 star is the best but also the priciest. The early you get it the better! Buy what you can afford and what you think is worthwhile for you. But build and tech gear is one of the few things I would say is a must buy if you want to play the game for the long term! Good luck and thanx for watching!

Hey man first of all I’d like to say I love the vids, they’re super helpful. I have a random question about super weapons, how does it work if you get attacked and you have multiple? I have someone in my new state that is about to get their second and wanted to know if they should just give it away now or could wait until they got their second. I had someone on my old account say they didn’t want to give them away when he had multiple because he didn’t want to end up with zero. If anybody knows how this works I’d appreciate it

It's good to have multiple but you will be targeted by other players. Even if you have multiple you can only benefit from one of them as you can only equip 1 SW at a time. (Benefit: 500k might SW effect). The seciond one just sits there until you equip it. What we did in my state was share them among the top players in the state.

Your troops are gonna do more damage depending on how you have utilized your gear chips and modules and what champions you've strengthened. Your test would have been more accurate if you did it when you first started your sanctuary. That's the point of find to show how you are growing strong with all those things considered.

I never tried to do a complete switch from one to the other. I do know you can unequip gear chips etc and use those as enhancement material however the promotion material is what's hard to get. Fighters make a good backup to riders anyways so in my opinion I would just switch focus without changing what you already have. Good luck!

Is it absolutely necessary to train more of, and upgrade, vehicles? Seems like they just slow zombie rallies down and are overall weaker than the fighter/shooter/riders in combat. My alliance does not allow vehicles sent for zombie rallies lol, so I'm not sure what else they'd be good for at this time yet I still train/upgrade them as much as I train/upgrade the fighters/riders/shooters. I send my vehicles out to gather resources, but any can be sent to do that.

I might be the wrong person to ask lol. I like vehicles. I think they are more important than most people realize. Vehicles are backline heroes with slow marches and no individual boosts which is why most people dont favor them. However troop boosts still apply to vehicles and as back line heroes they are great for additional sanctuary defense. I dont ignore training them. I definitely train more of my main troop, my strongest troop, but I still train vehicles daily.

As we all know, Fighter beats Shooter, Shooter beats Rider and Rider beats Fighter, and all 3 of those troop types beat Vehicles. They have no Heroes that buff them, their ATK, DEF and HP are no greater than the other troops types (their DEF and HP should be huge, this would make them a great back line troop type to have at home, but sadly no) slow as hell, the only thing they have going for them is that they can carry a tonne of rss. Troop boosts boost vehicles. But not sure what your question is entirely. Vehicles are important for gathering as well as sanctuary defense and raiding empty sanctuaries. In addition they are not strong nor weak against any other troop type they have no advantage nor a disadvantage. They are the last to die in battle so cause the least amount of casualties with strong front line heroes. I think vehicles are underrated. But thats my opinion.

@@ValenceRing when you select one of your troop camps, up the top it says 'Troop Advantage' it says on line 2. Fighter / Rider / Shooter > Vehicle. So i assume those 3 troop types trump vehicle. I can see how that might be confusing. The first line is the troop advantage. Fighters are strong against shooters etc. Youll notice vehicles arent in the first list because they have no troop advantage one way or the other. The second line is the order of death. Fighters die first then riders then shooters and then vehicles. So in a sanctuary battle your losses will technically have to go through all other troops before starting to affect vehicles. This means a lot of vehicles can aid in the battle without adding a lot to the casualties. And yes in the battle report you will see plenty of vehicle casualties. Casualties are applied separate from the battle which is odd but basically the battle is determined based partially on order of death of troops but casualties are actually calculated afterwards and distributed amongst your troops. This is why you will lose some of all troops even if the battle determination results in no casualties to a certain troop type. Hope that helps.

Well in the beginning you want to be mostly balanced. As you get stronger (usually after HQ 15 maybe even 20) then evaluate where you are based on heroes etc and then either focus on what you are strongest in already or focus on what is strong against what you are seeing in your state. Technically riders are the strongest against zombie lairs but that is supposed to get balanced out eventually. But if you see a lot of strong shooters in your state then fighters are a better option. If you see a lot of strong riders then shooters are better and if you see a lot of strong fighters then riders are best. You kinda have to see what is going to work best for you. Eventually you'll want them all to be balanced strong again.

What is the most cost effective way to make T10s? I've been told two different things: Make T1s, promote to T10s. Make T7s, promote to T10s. Argument is that it costs more to promote the T1s to T10s. I'm doing a little cost comparison right now. What's your take?

I just compared making and promoting five T1s and T7s to T10. It does look slightly more effective cost wise to make/promote the T7s. Still want to hear your thoughts on this.

It used to be more cost effective to start at t1 but I think they changed it. It should be exactly even. (Or super close) the idea is if it costs x to make a t10 and you make a t5 then to get to t10 the cost of promotion is the difference (time and rss cost) is the same amount getting from t5 to t10 as if you just made a t10 to start. So small example if it costs 100 wood to make a t10 but 50 to make a t5 then promoting a t5 to t10 would cost 50. Total cost is the same.

Depends on the game i suppose. It is a measure of how much health the heroes or troops have. Some games call that hit points some call it health points. I call it hit points. Not sure what the official nomenclature is for pns.

T1s are an easy way to complete certain quests for gac, gathering, alliance showdown or dailies as they are inexpensive to make.

Normally most people also have some vehicles floating around. So troop boosts effect all 4 troop types. This is why I would recommend troop stat heroes for your wall. The met effect of boosting 4 troop types is normally the best. You can also try different lineups on mondays in ruins for the hero challenge. Your best lineup in there is the best lineup for your wall technically speaking.

This is certainly one of the best games out there in my opinion. It’s also very complicated to a point. It’s complicated because there’s so much to the game which also makes it so interesting. One thing I can’t nail down and players within my alliance go back and forth on is, when attacking ie. other players or duel arena battles using our troops most players say only use 1 troop type. Don’t mix and vehicles are only a gathering troop. Could you please give me your thoughts on this? Is it beneficial to let’s say sending 70k shooters 30k fighters 20k riders and vehicles to fill . You did cover this some when saying don’t listen to others or you but I do value your opinion especially in the arena we’re you set up troops save and fight others not knowing there line up. Hopefully I wrote this so you understand what I’m asking. I’ve learned tons from you especially arena hero fighting and fighting the monsters knowing and understanding commanders thanks

@@smiler6326 not a bad call. I saw a trend to switch to riders which is why I switched from fighters to shooters but I was too far along to switch to riders. It would have been a long uphill climb for me. But I like to play balanced anyways so I am now still focused on shooters but trying to increase both fighters and riders as well. One or two big boosts for shooters and then as many smaller boosts to fighters and riders as I can. That way if I need to switch again it wont be such a difficult battle. Good luck!

I picked shooters because they have a good amount of kills and the least amount of casualties. But everyone has their own playstyle and should which troop matches their playstyle. My first server was fighter heavy so alot of people in my alliance went with riders. Riders are also the most prevalent because obsidian frags are ridiculously easy to get. But with that said you have to push very hard to get them worth a damn.

Hello, I was told I should only upgrade Shooter/rider gear first since I'm a shooter... However I was already doing shooter/fighter. Am I completely screwed because of this? Why does it have to be Shooter/rider? In my state everyone is a shooter/rider.... So I figured It'd be smart to do shooter/fighter just in case. I'm also trying to get it pretty even and everyone keeps saying it's stupid.... I'm trying so go slow and steady because I want to grow and be strong overall....idk why everyone's in such a rush it seems like an easy way to kill your wallet.
