Man that multiband snare trick with the guitars is brilliant. Half the work with distorted guitars is just making room for everything else without changing the fundamental tone, ducking just the frequencies you want to make a transient poke through is such a perfect solution. The mid-side EQ on the mix bus is something I'm going to experiment with as well, I love how spacious it made everything sound. Great video as always, thanks for taking the time, these mix walkthroughs really are an invaluable resource.

I love how tight and pointy Misha’s drums are. And his snare room is so fat it’s crazy

I've seen people sidechain the whole mix against the snare to get it to pop out more, but your trick of just having Pro-MB cut 5-600hz against the snare is new to me, that's really neat and a lot cleaner than the other approach. Thanks Misha, huge fan of your work and always learn a lot from your videos!!

The end of the video (last 8 or 10min) was a goldmine. Would love to see a more I depth video on how you mix guitars bass and synths. Love all of GGD tutorials and appreciate the extra mile GGD puts into their product. Ive noticed over time when you’ve been working with this stuff for so long, a lot of the setup is assumed. Like, bussing and sends levels. I had a really hard time when I first purchased MM back when it was released. I did everything the tutorial told me to, but the video never mentioned how to setup bussing. Or fx channels - they were already setup when the video started rolling. So I was never able to achieve the sucess achieved in the walkthrough. I’ve now years later worked with people who were where I was (a complete novice) May be cool to put perhaps a guide to bussing and fx channels. Thanks again, for the content. GGD is a fav of mine and I own TTSD3 and a handful of others. Always land on GGD for 95% of my drum and cab needs 🤘🤘

Thanks for another mix walkthrough. I've been watching and learning from you and Nolly for a few years now. I took a lot of mixing lessons from an old touring buddy of yours for over a year and he really helped me learn a ton too. This is the first time I actually understood everything you were talking about here. Love the GGD products and I own almost all of them. I would love to see some merch at some point Hint Hint. I would love to see some more bass tips and tricks as that seems to be the glue that binds it all together.

21:33 I’m so with you on moderate saturation with drums! It just makes drums fatter and allows the shells to compete with the rest of the band; I dunno how else to describe it.

Hey Misha, could you or Nolly do a video using spatial audio? Logic and Cubase both have Dolby Atmos native and it's super unexplored within the world of rock and metal.

Great sounding Demo ! I just notice that you are using pro q3 in zero latency mode if i do that in the same daw no matter real or midi drums on every track the phase shift is just awful.I didn't notice the same problem here and bang my head around to find why :)
@hughythomas10 ай бұрын
I'm having problems with PV pack - am I just being stupid but I can't seem to find the snare articulations like in P4...is this correct? Had to go back to P4 as snare articulations are super important in making MIDI drums sound 'human'.

I tried to run two DIs into an amp sim recently and it sounded god awful for some reason. Did you send yours hard panned or just both down the middle? I’m sure it was a phase issue of sorts but there’s really a million different reasons ways my guitars can sound like garbage so who knows. It seems like the more I bus my guitars around, the more bad things happen to them. Anyways, thanks for doing the walkthrough! The mix sounds super crispy and drums are absolutely massive. I’m definitely going to try taking cymbals out of the rooms. Oh, one more thing, what’s Herman’s beef with tape saturation?

GGD should "go crazy" and invest to develop their own Host, this way they would avoid many problems that kontakt has, being able to make something more personalized, simple and adapted to the needs and characteristics of a virtual drummer software.
