Obviously you were raised by the family pet ! You can’t describe what you bought, you don’t know the difference between male and female, you cant tell the difference between a rocker and a toggle switch, ( I like how you tried to set the rocker switch on top of the 9v battery though ). Stay away from car batteries or you won’t be around long enough to explain why you keep trying short things out. I could go on, but like your parents, sometimes it’s better just to give up. DO YOUR PARENTS A FAVOR AND GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, THEN FAVOR YOURSELF BY WEARING A HELMET, SOME SAFETY GLASSES, GLOVES, STEEL TOED BOOTS, A JOCK STRAP (ASSUMING YOU KNOW WHERE TO PUT IT), AND A DYPER.... SOONER OR LATER, YOU’RE GONNA PISS YOUR PANTS. etc. etc. etc.

Jake, I appreciate the detail and attention that you put into this video. I have been looking for a bait launcher for several months now and just couldn't bring myself to spend $289 for the J&J multi launcher that is advertised on Amazon. I believe after all was totaled at Home Depot, I spent $78 for the parts that you used in your video. Thanks Jake.

Best to use liquid sealant instead of tape as PVC could micro-fracture if you add a layer between the threads.

A useful upgrade is to add a second ball valve on the back and a small pressure gauge behind that with an npt valve for easy pressurization with a air compressor
@jakemakes4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but I can also easily pump it up with a tire valve fitting on the air compressor which I have

If anyone else decides to make this make sure that the pipe you are using is SOLID CORE SCHEDULE 40 pvc or abs. Never use cellular core or thinwall pvc or abs for any part of a potato cannon that has any pressure in it. Oh and I made something just like this but it is bigger and the chamber is under the barrel.
@liamthepyro5 жыл бұрын
Well you can use 1-1/2” sdr 21 sleeved in 2” schedule 80 for golf ball barrels but that’s different.

What would you use to seal the threads for a metal and brass air cannon? I want the seals to be permanent basically.
@jakemakes3 жыл бұрын
Just use some pneumatic grade thread sealing tape. No need to glue it on or something. Tighten em down and they won’t come off unless you want them too lol

where did you get the stuff to seal the bike valve to the pvc end cap? when ever I do this with a presta valve or something it always has leaks
@jakemakes4 жыл бұрын
Epoxy or JB weld. Airtight and can withstand very high pressure
@ridermak41114 жыл бұрын
Or you can get automotive schrader valves with a rubber base for steel wheels. You pull them into place from the inside. Wall thickness might prohibit though. When you see one you’ll know what I mean.

The way you have your battery, switch and valve wired is wrong and dangerous. The battery, switch and valve should all be wired in series. You have all three in parallel, so when your switch is open, you have 9 volts going to the valve, when you close the switch, you are shorting out the battery. That will very quickly drain the 9 volt battery, its a good thing you did not use with the heavier duty tool battery, it might of blown up from a dead short.

This just seems a little unsafe to me. You're relying on the piston in the sprinkler valve to fire the projectile. Are you sure what that piston can handle as far as pressure
@jakemakes6 жыл бұрын
Sprinkler valve is rated to 80 psi.
@Evan-vs4wn6 жыл бұрын
I have put 100 psi on the valve and it worked
@jinlim65753 жыл бұрын
if you have quick hands it works better with a hand valve. those sprinkler valves open way too slow.
@jakemakes3 жыл бұрын
Very true. My recommendation is to rig up a rubber powered trigger to flip the valve FAST.

Hey man I know you probably won’t see this but if you do message me,I had been experimenting with air cannons about half a year ago (I made 6) and I wanted to make 3d printed ammo so I designed some rockets but then I found that they were kind of impractical so I printed out some diabolo self stabilizing rounds let me know if you want the file or if possible I might be able to send you some if you don’t have access to a 3d printer)
