Just a suggestion, you could add a third PVC pipe to the middle of the rear side of the case where the GPU is zip tied to the pvc pipe. Then you can simply drill some holes and screw the GPU directly into the PVC pipe instead of tying it down. If it blocks a cable you can just drill another hole for the cable.

Interesting and cool video modstek, Very creatively designed case. I remember years ago using Q9650 with 1333 ddr3 ram on motherboard. FSB bandwidth would be the culprit here. Not sure if it's worth trying for absolute highest performance from this old platform. I use the same Cooler Master Liquid Master cooler on my Ryzen 2600x build but wasn't sure your temps with this CPU. I remember using a beefy down draft 250 watt air cooler with my Q9650 with excellent results. I liked your video a lot and can't wait to see other builds you do. Thanks for posting this modstek.

Great job man. One question: how did you achieved that new GPUs like nVidia 730, 750,1030 etc. work without problem with old OEM PCs like DELL Optiplex 755 or HP without confilct and high latency? Many of us have tried that but we have problems with stuttering/crackling, frame drops (picture and audio problems). After so many attempts we've came to conclusion that it is impossible to do that. I'm sure you have met with that kind of problem as well. Do you have some advice for us? Thank you
@modstek6 жыл бұрын
I use all those cards mentioned on OEM computers with no problems Sure you wont get the cards whole potential and forget overclocking with the limited pcie voltage but they bring old tech back to life!. My kids use a HP/COMPAQ dc7800 with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 bsel tape modded @ 3.0 ghz everyday with a MSI GT-1030 everyday gaming with no problems. My advice would be to install the latest BIOS If its not already, put card in the pcie x16 slot , download the driver and have fun.. Dell shipped gt-730's and higher in some computers www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Dell-NVIDIA-GeForce-GT730-2GB-DVI-HDMI-VGA-Graphics-Video-Card-0J27RG/292641307642?epid=2135976868&hash=item4422c7fbfa:g:AoEAAOSwg6xbSle8

CPU throttling, I saw 48 celcius on iddle that is to much, the range is about 15 to 25 depending on the temperature/weather. Maybe your liquid cooling isn't working right, or it's not attached right, maybe the thermal paste is not good enough, try some liquid metal. Whoa maybe is the northbridge, getting to hot!
@zanewhiting42896 жыл бұрын
Dude, this is a first gen xeon, while those temps are a little high, they're still well within the realm of possibility with a CPU like that
@Whymelow6 жыл бұрын
Yes, but cooling is very important, I don.t see the botleneck in that procesor, with that videocard...
@haydenw86916 жыл бұрын
That CPU will bottleneck the videocard. Speaking from experience since I had the same CPU Paired with an ASUS STRIX OC GTX 950. Majority of games maxxed out the CPU with less than 50% GPU usage. Best part was going from 720p to 1080p gave more FPS. Only Assetto Corsa had even CPU and GPU usage for me.

What way you bottlenecking the xeon x5460. The pc6400 memory speed will hold you back as my custom pc is asus p5q premium paired with xeon e5450 clocking at 4.06ghz with gskill ddr2 pc8500 @ 1067mhz with asus gtx 750ti oc graphic card overclock the core to 1306mhz at 1.20v.

Love your channel, been watching it a while now. You'd get way better price to performance out of lga 1156 xeons. x3430's and x3440's only cost between 10 and 25 bucks and go up to 4ghz overclocked, and the hyperthreading of the x3440 makes light work of heavily threaded games like Battlefield 1 also (in comparison to old 7xx socket cpu's) .
@modstek6 жыл бұрын
What board do you suggest?

Regularly in the 60 dollar range, overclocks both cpu's to at least 3.7-3.9 ghz with a hyper 212 evo, and 16 gb of ram. Sometimes, just sometimes, those are expensive though. When that happens, www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-P7H55-M-LX-Motherboard-LGA1156-Intel-H55-VGA-DVI-With-I-O-Shield/302745015269?hash=item467d0253e5%3Ag%3A2sgAAOSwt5VbAjWv&_sacat=0&_nkw=p7h55+m+lx&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_TitleDesc=0 these are a cheaper option most times. They hover around 50 -70 bucks shipped, have the same overclocking abilities for the most part, and only sacrifice some ram (which I've noticed you tend to run 4gb anyway lol). With either board, and a x3440/x3430, I've built multiple 300$ gaming pc's that outrun my PS4 and xbox 1, and for less than 100 if you only get one of the cpu's and a mobo, you really can't beat the AAA fps.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6uYlJdqfpd0atE theres a vid capture I took for some friends in disbelief. Specs are bottom right at the beginning, but this is with an x3440, a p7h 55m pro mobo, and an rx 470, on ultra settings. Though I can do a BF1 capture if you'd like to see that performance also.

Thank you for the links when i get some mad cash I will do this build the performance was fantastic!
@mitochondria38736 жыл бұрын
No problem! You are my literal inspiration for trying cheap stuff of various configurations to see what I can get for my $. Side note, since you're more budget friendly, an HD 7950/7970 only costs 1/3 of the RX470 I used, and still maintains 60+ fps with that cpu and mobo on medium-high settings for the price of just an RX470/GTX1060 total.

Good job with this video(all others too) and who would think that in one of your older videos that you thanked people for 800 subscribers. With future builds like you did in this video, you should include the Parts List required to accomplish your builds. That Parts List IS helpful and it IS greatly appreciate. I have been tempted to delve into making a PVC frame like yours then install parts from one of my spare machines. I'm not to that point yet, but I will get there eventually thanks to you and now I know what parts I need plus the lengths. If other readers want to see even more about your builds then they should visit your Instagram account. As always: Praise The Lord and Godspeed to you all - Deuteronomy 31:6!!

@lildeadman88946 жыл бұрын
Benji St Rose no it does not
@StRose96 жыл бұрын
john haley Yes... it does. For exaple, in AC Origins usage of 1060 6gb combined with 7500 is 89-96% in crowded area. Texture loading gives hard time to my 7500. In most games 7500 is more than enough but in few games more powerful cpu should be required. 4 cores are becoming past, slowly but surely.
@zakiwagiman10396 жыл бұрын
No. It does not. I pair my 7500 with 1070 playing AC Origins with ultra settings..no lag whatsoever.
@Digital_5046 жыл бұрын
You must be confused. If your gpu has a usage of 89 to 96% its running like it should so the bottleneck might be your cpu.. Whats the usage % of your cpu?
@elijah79376 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can see that happening. My old i5 3470 bottlenecked my r9 270 in gta 5. Pitty on the people that think an i5 can't bottleneck a gpu just because of the "i5" branding.

Bro you need to get off that 775 bs, they're just not feasable anymore! LGA1366 can make much more power and a cheap Xeon X5660 can get you running anything with little bottleneck! Im currently looking into a Haswell Xeon 10core at 3.8Ghz boost kept on, R9 290x crossfire for my main PC, and im also building a "Hackbook pro", gutting out an old Macbook pro, put in a HP Zbook motherboard with an i7-4900MQ, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD, 4k 15.6" IPS panel, 20,000mah battery bank soldering mod (which is effectively 390wh!), and finally a larger trackpad mod. I think the whole project would cost me a k I think (in CAD aswell)
@maybelive7656 жыл бұрын
It is also possible I just buy a threadripper 12c since they're so cheap and stupid idiots "break" their motherboards all the time selling them for real cheap (when the simple problem is their pins are bent)...
