It is apparent from reviews and feedback I have read that many folks are butt-hurt over the PXG prices and cannot adequately or fairly comment. That said, your reviews are always spot-on and enjoyable. I have played most brands of clubs and have loved some and not so loved others. As a military vet I am drawn to the Parson's commitment to our military but haven't hit the PXG's yet. I love the look of the PXG's and the new 0211's but I grew up playing cast with Ping's i2's and liked them as well as Mizuno's, Taylormade's and Titleist forged and I liked them too. Totally comes down to feel and preference no matter the brand. Thank you.

Hi I'm looking at the specs for each set. PXG website says 9 iron has .07 inches offset, which is 1.78 miilimeters, and the Taylor made site says the P790 9 iron has 2.1 mm. so the pxg has a bit less offset than the p790 in the 9 iron. In the 8 iron they both have the same offset. in the 7 iron and lower, the P790 clubs have less offset.

Interesting. I get that there is inconsistency bc we are all average golfers but the gapping is an issue for both. When you take your best shot with the PXG 7 and 5 iron there is a 15.5 yard gap which is too close but then you take the best shot with the TM 7 and 5 iron and there is about a 17 yard gap which is also too close. Whichever set I picked I’d want to see what that 6 iron was doing and see if it would be smart to change lofts to get a bit more out the 5 iron to get a bit of separation

The Average Golfer I had the previous set of the P790’s and I had 6-7 yard gap between some clubs, 11 between some, and 15 yards between others. It was all over the shop. When I originally got fit it was just a 7 iron so I didn’t know it would be a problem. When the clubs arrived and I got them on the course realized then something wasn’t right so went to a local rep and after hitting all the irons (only using the good strikes) and looking at the numbers he was able to do some adjusting with the lofts to get the right gapping of about 10-12 yards. Problem solved

@geordietoonforlife.11555 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, as a former owner of the pxg irons I can only agree that the feel is absolutely fantastic and it does matter too me. I’ve sold my pxgs because I won the Mizuno HMBs and I also have a set of Titleist Ap2s/Ap3s combo set which I was using more than the pxgs. Personally on your test I prefer the looks of PXG at address they do have a nicer top line as for feel I don’t know what the taylormade are like as I’ve not hit them but one of my pals had just ordered a set so in a couple of weeks time I’ll get too hit his too see what they are like. When you test the Mizuno against your current set you’ll find the loft on the 7 iron is 32 degrees which isn’t as strong as some irons but you can have them stronger by 2 degrees if you wish personally I’ve kept mine as standard loft and lie. I believe from what I’ve read and heard the hollow head has too be a bit thicker on the top line so they don’t collapse, and the Mizuno is hollow no speed foam or anything like that inside, I’ve only played one round with my new irons and I’m absolutely blown away at the feel of these irons I thought the Titleist were lovely in feel but my god what a difference with the Mizunos. Your review is spot on and so honest as it’s down too personal choice at the end of the day no right and no wrong in whatever you choose. I must say they are impressive numbers with both clubs 150 carry with a 9 iron is very healthy indeed, going off my one round with mine I would say that’s a good 10 yards bigger carry than my 9 iron, I suppose the loft and possibly the longer shaft has a bit too do with it but nevertheless a very good honest review and I look forward too your findings with the HMBs. Well done excellent review and totally honest as normal. 👏👏👏

I've hit the P790 (with Mamiya graphite shafts) and was sold the minute I did. Unfortunately, I then found out how expensive they were! $1500 a set with graphite shafts!! PXG is selling the 211s for $99/club US right now, with a graphite shaft! I've had Titleist AP2 which I've never liked. No distance, no feel, small looking heads. If the PXGs have a slightly larger head, I think I might like that. I've used Taylormade Burners for years. Are their lengths comparable to Taylormades? Taylormade seems to make their shafts just a bit long than other brands. Actually, I like that.

FINALLY someone compares these two. It came down to these two for me in a recent fitting. Very very similar. Take price out of it which is hard to do. Sound and feel is what it came down to for me which was.......PXG. I hate offset but in the long irons it really helped tighten up dispersion enough so that it doesnt bother me at all. It actually gives me more confidence off the tee with 4 and 5 irons. Both are great. Its a bit subjective. I have always liked shorter blade lengths. There is a reason that the clubs with longer blade lengths have more offset. The longer the blade, the longer it takes to square the face. The offset buys you a “millisecond” more time to get that long toe squared up. It also explains a little higher ball speed, because the longer the blade length, as the club squares, it is picking up mph. If that makes sense to you?

...and months ago, when you announced that you were putting PXG in your bag, I said that I’d never use PXG, and you asked me why. But you said why sort of, when saying that both Mizuno and TM had a big price increase. I blame PXG for that. PXG created a new price ceiling, to the mass market, and left a wide opening for the other manufacturers to fill in behind. The MP20 and P790 wouldn’t be $1,400, but maybe $1,099, if it weren’t for PXG. Just my opinion of course.
@TheAverageGolfer5 жыл бұрын
I look at it slightly differently, PXG set out to make a product that would be in the 'premium' category from day one and never suggested otherwise but if other manufacturers have changed their approach to cost due to being influenced by another brand then surely you would question that judgment, so increasing price based on what logic? because they can? thats what would bother me?

I just got fitted into both of these irons. The numbers where so close my fitter told me either would be perfect for me. I've chosen the pxg since the shaft I was fitted into is stock with the pxg, and I get the 0211 for $95 a club right now with the heroes program. Can't beat the price, and the fact I don't have to buy the shafts aftermarket. I liked the size profile of the p790 better but liked the look of the pxg better with the smaller top line and more chrome finish. If the p790 would have been the same price, with the option to get my fitted shaft stock I would be pulling my hair out over which to choose. I still think pxg would win, but man what a tough decision it would be.

Could you share the difference between the 0211’s and the Epic pro irons you liked so much? Thx

Do you know why the PXG has such a high bounce on their clubs? How does that affect real world playability? Thanks, keep up the great vids!

Having tried these irons and many more this year price and feel was a major factor in selecting my new irons. Play off 6 handicap and i finally opted for the wilson staff c300 forged irons. Sorry far too expensive these overpriced hiped up irons Andy i chose a work horse and one that fits my game and at half the price the wilson forged are a clear standout for me. Until average golfers realise they are getting ripped off with ridiculous prices which are killing the game wilson staff will always be in my bag 👍

I am the same with offset. Battled away with a set of Taylor made speed blades which were very offset and recently switched to a p790 which obviously retain some offset particularly in longer irons but substantially less than the old speed blades. Could not be more impressed by the p790 and I got a set of the 2017 edition after the 2019 came out. I tested both and apart from the shinier chrome and the Taylormade logo replacing the full word on the back, zero difference. Half the price though...

Dude, I don't know where your numbers come from, but you are not hitting a 7 iron at 190 carry with your swing. So those numbers seem made up.

It looks to me as if the Taylormade have the MORE OFFSET and Not the 0211! He seems to have contradicted himself in this video!
@otherone1234 Жыл бұрын
you are wrong and he is right. while they both have similar offset, 0211's have about 15% more than 790's. How hard is to google "pxg 0211 iron specs" ? lol

PXG big seller. I have met one person playing PXG so far. Can't believe sales are that high. Kind of ignored price. And I live in London where the roads are paved with gold 😂😂
