Thanks for the update! Lots of stuff I need to check out. I like Tied Down TV a lot. Hopefully you'll gain them some new fans.

Thanks for the upload GZS. Cool to see you shoutout the Guts release. I’ve been enjoying that one immensely. Apparition on Profound Lore has been a recent discovery for me and I can’t stop listening!
@GroundZeroSalem8 ай бұрын
Gave that Apparition a listen...sounds good. I may still prefer the Apparition from Spain, but I'll need to spin the other one more. THIS Apparition has Taylor Young on Bass, which is cool. There's a few Twitching Tongues records that I really dig.

Great update, Pat. I like most of this stuff, too. The previous Afterbirth LP is just as good. Great band. And knowing your taste, you might like it more. The new Dying Fetus is basically my fav. Dying Fetus. No idea how, or why, but, yeah, it's very enjoyable.
@GroundZeroSalem8 ай бұрын
Yeah, it seems like a lot of people really dig that new Dying Fetus. I think it's really well done. I plan on checking out those other Afterbirth full lengths. Going backward sounds like a plan. The super early demo stuff rules. I do have that one.

Anthropophagus was an Italian horror movie about a cannibal man terrorizing a greek island. It has a really cool early synthwave-y score. The sequel is oddly sort of a ripoff of Halloween where he is terrorizing an American small town, and there are almost no cops around to stop him because it's during the Super Bowl! Got a couple things to peep, thanks Pat

Florida had some great metallic hardcore in the 90s. Stuff like Shai Hulud and Cavity also come to mind, though Cavity was very sludgy. The new Pestilength record has been doing right by me. I would recommend them for some nasty death doom. Great update!
@GroundZeroSalem8 ай бұрын
Never really got into Shai Hulud. I haven't revisited them in a long time though. Cavity rules. I have almost all of their stuff. I've heard good things about Pestilength.

Good stuff man. You obviously know your shit. I heard a lot of these albums, but some I definitely missed and plan on correcting that. I really loved the new Dipygus, and I also thought I'd hate Suffocation without Frank, but the new guy's really good and the album was killer.

Pat, I don’t know how you make *talking* about metal so titillating… Great vid. Your ability to recall details about profuse legions of albums is just immense. Digging this Trucido- thanks! I’m half tempted to move to TX to be pulverized up-close by their grindcore scene. Real Life Ugly is another up and comer in Dallas you may dig. Finally, in the age of shuffle mode, I’m impressed by your commitment and attention to the album experience. PS- love the Wet Hot JJ and Ben and McKinnley-a-zoid scene! Love that move!

@ajh229 The whole Victor Pulak pursuing Abbey Bernstein subplot might be the funniest part of the movie. When he crashes into the tree? Duuuude, forget about it. Gold. Ken Marino in general is pretty great in most of the things he's been in. I still love The State.

@ajh229 I once witnessed the guys from Tear it Up heckling a younger punk band who's set fell apart by yelling "Do something" (other guy from the band, like clockwork) "Or get the f*ck off the stage!!!" a la the talent show scene. It was magical.

I just discovered Tied Down TV today, binged like 5 of their videos, good stuff! Also speaking of name overlap within death metal, there’s another band called Antropofagus from Italy that kicks ass, very brutal stuff. Members of Devangelic, Putridity etc 🤘

How you managed to cram all that content into only 35-ish minutes is its own magician's feat. I didn't realize Into Darkness had new material… discovered them a few years ago and figured with the quality of material they put out they'd be a household name by now… but nope, not the case… quite cool to see you give 'em a mention.

Simon over at Explosive Action also talked about Into Darkness recently. But yeah, I think their low amount of output has kept them relatively obscure. Quality over quantity!
@blackleathereyes36738 ай бұрын
Hi Pat, thank you for the very sound shout-out mate! Talking about Antropophagus (Ill defo check the band out), I love the atmosphere in that movie. I always think of Death Metal as the sonic equivalent of those Video Nasty movies. The more exploitative, thick with atmosphere and over the top the better in my opinion. Slimy, gross and festering...everything else is just Metal with DM vocals that dont belong after that haha! I know very little about modern DM apart from what I see folks like yourself show on youtube. Ill check some of this out for sure. I like Vircolac from Ireland and Ive seen people show Scolopendra which I liked too. Its always interesting to see the scene slither along. Anyway, im blabbering...fun, well made and interesting vid mate. Cheers mucker!
@GroundZeroSalem8 ай бұрын
Vircolac, eh? I'll have to check them out. The only Irish DM bands that I'm really familiar with are Abaddon Incarnate and Coldwar. I know a fair deal about the punk scene in The Republic & Northern Ireland, but not too much about metal if I'm being honest. Honestly, keeping up with modern Death Metal is a pretty daunting task. There are SO many bands playing many different sub-sub genres. I just pay attention to those distros and labels that I really like. I really need to check out that movie. Being an American who grew up watching BBC on public television, I can't hear or read the term "Video Nasty" without thinking of The Young Ones, and all of the quotable lines from that episode. "It's a carpet farty!!!" 🤣🤣🤣

Some belter stuff here. The new Anthropophagous I need to get, loved the previous one. Sadistic Drive rips, Ben got me onto them. Into Darkness also rules, I've never heard their previous work but I really dig Cassini (and I love spacey death metal themes personally!)
@GroundZeroSalem8 ай бұрын
I think that you'll like the earlier Into Darkness stuff. It's still Doomy DM, but a bit different, a little bit more straight forward. I think there's just been such a glut of SciFi imagery in DM lately, I'm a bit burnt out. I still think Blood Incantation has tracks though.
