@@GroundZeroSalem Choice rec with Mass Psychosis! Vocals even sound like Scott Ruth on the Necroporno album! I got the Lethargy 2xCD discography on, well, CD! It’s lovely. 🥰 Only thing I can think of that you may have missed is Embrionic Death’s Stream Of Solidarity demo to counter (I think you know about Damonacy already). One of my favs. Anyway… I’m going to go hump the fridge! PS- did you say Hometown Heroes Violent Fury? Didn’t seem to google for me.

@ajh229 Yep, I have the Embrionic Death demos CD. They talked about it on Radical Research a few years ago. Wiiiiild stuff. Nothing turned up when you searched Violent Fury? If you're looking for anything to purchase, that's probably not going to happen. Their demos have been OOP since the 90s. All of them are up on KZbin though.

@@GroundZeroSalem Thanks for the tip on Radical Research! I really enjoyed Jeff Wagner’s contributions on the Death doc, and I was glued to Mean Deviation when it came out. I thought “hometown heroes” was part of the band name- oof! Looks like the Frozen Dawn III comp is still within reach.

@@GroundZeroSalem Wicked sick. I also used to be in a black metal band back in the day but the lead singer kept renting "The 10 Commandments" on VHS and returning it unrewound. Once he etched out the 1 on the box so it read "0 Commandments", I knew it was time to get out - for the sake of my future and my family's future. By "my family", I mean my cat.

From the early aughts I still go back and listen to Spawn of Possession. The album Cabinet is my favorite. I like most of that era of Unique Leader stuff. It was brutal and technical but not wanky tech or “look how fast we play”. There were some good releases from Bizarre Leprous Prod from that era too. Anyway just my opinion. Thanks for the vid!

@@GroundZeroSalem Happy to oblige! The newer Unique Leader releases are solid as well. However the label seems to have expanded (I assume it’s tough to survive just being a brutal DM label) and the catalog has a broader scope of heavy music. Bizarre Leprous Prod were mostly DM with a bunch of Gore stuff as well. Not sure if BLP is still active now that I’ve mentioned them. Have to check the Encyclopedia Metallum!Cheers!!

Yeah that Infestdead was always a big meh, I got the stupidly named "Hellf*ck" release in the 90s and hated the drum machine sound and absolute-nothing-here sub two minute length tracks. That Mangled is great though.

I can recommend the 2002 Deformity album Superior (from Belgium) awesome album not olskool dm but very much combines DM, thrash, metalcore and classic HM very close to Morbid Angel

I just got that Deformity in the mail, I'm picking it up at the post tomorrow. I know that they came out of that H8000 scene and became a full-on DM band by that release, so I'm pretty interested.

I think I saw a Creepmime album cover in your Mangled section? I love their 'Chiaroscuro' album, even if it is very Petilence/Death inspired. Excellent musicianship on that album, but maybe to progressive for your taste?

I might dig it. I haven't heard it. I do like Shadows quite a bit. Some of the old school Tech/Prog DM I like. Human is my favorite Death record after SBG.
