Larry: Thank you for this 3 part series on PyAlgoTrade. I have been looking for a good "sample project" and your tutorial addressed all the foundation points needed. This is an excellent tutorial on using Python for backtesting.

For all you "buy and holders", consider how long it took the market to recover after the 2000 crash. It took almost 17 years for the the NASDAQ 100 (QQQ) to get back to previous highs, and the SPY took 7 years, but then crashed again 6 months later and took over 5 years to recover; 12 years to get back above where it was in Sept 2000. Buy and hold is not a viable strategy.

Holding on though a 55% drawdown? If my trousers weren't brown at the start they would be for sure before the end. :-) Another great, honest, video. Thanks for posting. Love your channel.

Fantastic video! Thank for all of your work Larry. It really is appreciated. :) I'm interested in how you trade on a longer time frame basis, instead of day trading, for the reasons you mentioned. Would you, or anyone else here, have any good resources to develop simple but powerful strategies for something like this?

Great topic !! Thank you. Looking forward to this...

Thanks for the very high quality video. Much better and raisonnable than other channels. Seems you can do better with double moving average (crossing) on a lower time frame, but it may be ovetfitting and not continue to perform that well in the future. The strategy of the video seems good without ovetfitting.

Just found your channel, a find a lot of value! New subscriber! ... Mostly interested in stocks and algo trading with python. Quick question: what's the best broker for live trading using Python? I know that ninja trader is pretty good for futures and it uses c#. How about stocks and using Python? Thanks!

love your work.. have to say though.. the thumbnail for this series.. you look like a '90s solo act with that cover shot.. "see Part-Time Larry @ the Troubador, door open at 7"...

Haha that was the look I was going for. Me and my friend took a bunch of random photos in front of Cobb's Comedy Club one night before the show. I needed a new thumbnail so grabbed this out of Google Photos. Trying not to do the generic click bait thumbnails, but also have realized I need to quit recycling the same old thumbnails or it's harder to tell the content is new.
