True that mythra's tilts are unsafe on shield, but that just adds another layer to her mixups, she can run up to your shield and then run away, spotdodge, jump, etc because it's near impossible to react to her tilts in the first place

Agreed! The moves themselves are good, I'm not trying to downplay them, but at the moment it feels like people are treating them as if they're + on block haha. At least force the Mythra player to play the character well and try to mix you up. Too many players are just mashing the tilts whenever they are in CQC and getting away with it.

@valy0f "If your opponent is a competent player" is a very broad and vague component that doesn't take into consideration any other variables. Just because the opponent is competent does not mean that they will or even can make the optimal play. Competent players can be mixed up, can make mistakes, can be driven into the corner. Not to mention that you can shield on Reaction, bait a bad option, set up for an oos kill or combo starter, etc. There's also a lot of other variables of the play state to consider. Stage positioning is a very important one. If the opponent lacks much stage control then they are still in disadvantage. If they are recovering even more so, since you have more options and you can shut down the option of their putting out a hit box to cover their recovery. And of course, if you Shield at the right position you can cover many ledge options, giving you a definite advantage. Shielding is an important tool that can be used to bait or cover options. Advantage and disadvantage is more than whether or not you are taking your turn. That'd be like saying if someone blocked a wake up DP that the blocking player was in the worse spot.

They sucks ass in disadvantage, their recovery options are incredibly gimpable and they have a hard time killing once you have the matchup down. Zone Pyra out and she's fucked. None of their grabs really kills so shield is a powerfull answer to Mythra's neutral and if she don't space her moves right, you can punish oos or grab as you showed. Now when they'll begin to really weaponize foresight, we're in trouble.

Good Pythras will use Mythra if you're at a high percent to use her superior mobility and frame data to put you in a bad position and then switch to Pyra for the last killing blow. So you cannot really avoid Pyra at high percents either

Great video on the counterplay! Raito made a similar video but it was obviously in Japanese so this good for an English version. Pyra and Mythra are definitely really strong but the flaws of the character will really start to show over time as people ingrain the proper counterplay

Btw certain characters have less vulnerability on their spotdodges compared to others, for example most characters such as Lucina have invulnerability on frames 3-17 while Zero Suit Samus, Fox, Sheik, and maybe a few others only have invul on frame 3-14, making it so they get hit by the final hit of Pyra's flame nova. In the case for those fast characters, they can instead block the first hit and then parry the 2nd hit of flame nova, in which they can punish her with any option frame 8 or faster. So parrying the 2nd hit allows ZSS to punish with up-b, Fox with up-smash, and sheik with down smash.

Fun fact: If your opponent uses prominence revolt (Pyra's Up B) near the edge of the stage, shield the hit, run into them (don't attack) pushing them off the stage they will go into free fall and die. This is really easy to do with Mythra since her movement speed is so fast.

this is actually super inconsistent and pyra survives this more often than she dies by simply grabbing the ledge, its actually typically better to go for a regular punish

One of the mayor problems for is that I'm unable to control the character walk, so every time that I move I'm running and when I start i do the dash and I'm I can't use the shield or react fast, I would love this game to have a button to force the walk when u are holding it, with that I could punish easily this kind of moves

I've been having trouble with this MU as ZSS. I just practiced the spot dodging of Pyra's neutral B with her always got hit by the final fire hitbox. I switched to Lucina and tried (like in the video) and got it first try. I'm guessing the spot dodge tip doesn't work for every character (but would love to know if it does work as ZSS)
