Aren’t those hook up baits scented though? I’ve had some 1/16oz for trout and they do have a garlic scent to them so that’s why I haven’t used them at Pyramid.
@BlakeMarshall-PiscesOutdoors4 күн бұрын
They make them scented and unscented, so no issues if you are using unscented gear. Excellent question! Best of luck to you on the water!

Question..what rod tube holders are those..?...nice fish by the way
@BlakeMarshall-PiscesOutdoorsАй бұрын
Those are DIY contractors tubes, you can source the locking cap ends and buy pipe, cut to size.

Question for ya. I had quite a few fish follow my lures to the boat this Dec at Pyramid, but would not bite. I have seen this with Rainbow Trout too. I use Marabou Jigs when nothing else working to get the rainbows to bite. I see you using marabou jigs too at Pyramid on a spinning rod (same style of rod I using too). I have the stuff to tie them up. But I can't find a ball head with a strong enough hook (like x1 or x2 hook that is laser sharp). Can you share the brand and where you get them ball heads you tie up yourself?
@BlakeMarshall-PiscesOutdoorsАй бұрын
The ones I use the most are Wapsi brand, but there are others with much more detailed heads. I just buy a blank lead jig and paint the heads myself. And I may have found the wapsi product on FishUSA, knot 100% about that. Best of luck

@BlakeMarshall-PiscesOutdoorsАй бұрын
For Sure, Fenwick HMX9L-MS-2 is the lighter weight 4-10lbs great for jiggs and spinners. The Fenwick HMX9M-MS-2 is a little heavier at 8-15lbs rating, great for throwing the larger spoons and swim baits. Best of luck to you on the water, the lake has been fishing strong this year!

Are they all hatchery or is there some natural reproduction in the truckee? Still never seen a lahontan in the truckee but ive heard rumors there's a few in there
@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors Жыл бұрын
That is a great question, I do not have all the details on that situation, and I assume it will forever be changing. There are up river plants going on, plus all the upper lakes receiving them. Difficult to know where the fish can all make it to with the difficult agricultural boundaries.
@mainlyfishing4599 Жыл бұрын
They spawn at the hatchery spillway at the lake…. Few years ago I found a dead 20+ cutthroat near downtown Reno. They definitely make it all the way into town. I’ll post a pic of it on my instagram..

I am going to check out that picture, it is a great questions regarding how much natural spawn is effective, or is it all hatchery@@mainlyfishing4599

Nice video, but I tend to be most productive with spoons from Sierra Lure. Bleeding Frog in several colors. White or Green seem to be the most productive. White when it's stormy. 7/8 ounce is the best size for shore fishing.
@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Most people are aware of spoons, they are effective, and most fishermen are well informed for spoon fishing. I just wanted to show a few other tactics that are also incredibly effective. The Jig bite is my favorite, I like the way you can reely slow down the presentation when the fish are lethargic and fish a more sensitive rod. Good luck to you this season!

@@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors I just thought I would share what spoons work at Pyramid. I have also caught fish at Pyramid with the Maribu Jig. Thanks for the advice!

If I see a jack wagon like you on my lake you’ll be going for a swim
@Styk339 күн бұрын
That is correct. They are pretty serious about it, and currently it is a $200 fine. Before COVID they would run yarn across the hook and if it snagged it was a citation. I do not recall the fine if you have a fish on the hook with a barb, but it is significantly higher.

First time for everything....how much research should be done before heading up to Pyramid for the first time? Thank you...
@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking. I tend to lean on research even went I have fished areas for decades, I study every inch of maps, and satalite images, and charts, anything I can find to locate places that I think will produce. For the Three days prior to the trip, I watch weather particularly wind forecast to see what the effects are there. It is a guessing game, but I will try and pick my first, second, and third best options for fishing. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Good Luck

Yes, they taste great! There is a slot limit, so be sure you keep legal fish, and I would probably steer clear of the fish over 10lbs. Check out this video my homie made wantons out of them, it was incredible. He also cooked fillets with verde salsa, it was excellent Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYbaqn-IlLuto7s

@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors Жыл бұрын
That is correct, no barbs, I have plenty of lures that have not been fished, those are what I am showing on the camera, I fish many areas, so I only pinch the barbs of lures that I am using at the time of fishing, majority of my boxes are stilled barbed because they have not been fished. Best of luck on the water!
