Is pyruvate dehydrogenation is same as that of oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate ?

Dehydrogenation means removal of H+ ions which means oxidation. Pyruvate dehydrogenase is an enzyme responsible for converting pyruvate to hydroxyethyl TPP by removal of a carbon group from Pyruvate (decarboxylation). Decarboxylation of pyruvate is the initial step, which leads to the formation of hydroxyethyl TPP.
